  1. Eddie, I'm still planning on attending WTC, I will be riding wednesday thru Saturday. leaving for home on Sat. night. I also could be dragging a few more bodies with me from the great state of Ahnold!! My brother lives in Riverton and he is planning on carving with us too. I'm also coming up on Dec. 23, riding on the 24, 25 26, where? I do not know. At this point in time I don't know if I will be skiing or carving. I will let you know as the time draws closer.
  2. The contact person at Goldsmith's is Alex, don't know his last name though. I was in Goldsmith's on Tuesday and they had didn't have much in inventory, 5 boards was all. The boards were all last years model or two years old. They do have a sh*tload of Raichle X-bone step ins though. Ther is another shop in the Wrightwood area that carries boots and even stocks TD2s, I dont Remeber the name but if you call Powder and Sun Sports in Victorville and ask for the number they will give it to you, its the same owner. In other news, I went up to Summit today with my new(to me) Oxygen Proton 185. The first hour was good, I was rippin' the corduroy, feelin' good on the new stick, then the snow started dumpin, the light went flat and the Oxy was stuffed into the Jeep in favor of the Prior 4X4 179. I spent the morning riding the fresh, I also ran into 9 other alpine riders on the mtn. I couldn't believe it and neither should you!! I'm only kidding about the other alpine riders, I'm usually the only one on a carvin' stick. One funny thing about today, a young girl who works in the rental dept. at snow summit, insisted that I was riding a mono ski. I showed her the bindings and boots and plead till I could no more, she still didn't buy it.
  3. Hey, here is another trencher, I am always lookin for people to go riding with. Throw in a clinic and I'm so there. If anyone wants to meet me tomorrow at Summit I will be there till noon.
  4. I used to race on skis, my specialty was GS. I just loved the way you could feel the skis arcing under your foot at speed with minimal, if any skidding. My buddy taught me to board on soft boots and I rode that way for 3 times. I went to Mammoth with my dad and saw a carver just laying down some trenches, immediately my thoughts went back to the way my skis felt under feet and alpine boarding was in my blood. I haven't been back on skis or soft boots since '96. Although, I bought some shaped skis this year cuz my bro was complaining that we never ski together anymore. I tried to get him into carving but he never quite took a liking to it.
  5. I emailed helzberg about this commercial and it is going to be airing on the FIS events. So keep it tuned to OLN for their skiing events.
  6. Any news on the WTC website? How many days are we riding 3 or 4? Are we going to ride on Saturday the 6th or just do midweek?
  7. What kind of board is that? Was it a custom? When I was a kid I had some PJs that looked just like that. Now, I know what my mom did with 'em.
  8. I was watching OLN today, the FIS Men's Downhill from Lake Louise, Alberta. I know that this is a carving site but I do still watch skiing. Anyway, Helzberg Diamonds ran a commercial called "Diamond Runs" or something similar and they had a skier carving it up pretty good, then the camera switched over to a alpine rider who was laying down some pretty good trenches. Whoever it was filming was trailing the carver pretty close, at one point the camera was sprayed with snow, It was pretty good footage. Anyone else see it??
  9. I see that the East Coasters mention the firmness of their snow?? more than a few times on this website. This could be the trick that they need to keep from losing their edge on the hard stuff. Maybe if you installed some grip tape on the ptex at the tip you might get better turn initiation also. What a joke!!!
  10. WOW! I thought that I was the only one who had been to Kellys Canyon on this website. I've never seen another carver up there. I go to Kellys a couple times a year, my sister livesin the small town of Ririe,15 minutes away. Anothe option you have to try is Grand Targhee, if you are heading to Jackson Hole then Targhee is not too far away. G.T. had what looked like to be good carving terrain, although I was on skis that day.
  11. I'm talkin' 'bout riding 5 1/2 days straight, I popped a couple of Aleve for the latter days and everyting was goot!
  12. 4 days would be more than enough. The last day at SES last year my legs were toast. I'm a competitive cyclist so my legs have good strength but after 5 1/2 days of riding last year that was just a bit much. I'm not sure if you guys ride like I do, once I get to the runs I have water and food with me so it is non-stop pretty much all day long.
  13. One item that I apply to the tops of my boards is Rain-X. The stuff that makes rain drops fly off your windshield makes snow do the same thing on the top of your board. I apply it two to three times a season and I'm good to go. I also apply it to the bindings with a small 1" paint brush but I do'nt wipe it off. This seems to keep the snow from packing up in the bindings.
  14. Being that I live in Southern Cal and have only been to Brighton on a snowboard I am going to have to leave it up to the Utah locals to select the resorts of WTC. I'm game for anywhere where my Prior 179 4WD and 185 Proton can do their thing!
  15. I ride Summit quite a bit, Bear has turned into a jibber's smorgasboard. Summit bought Bear last season and they decided to put all the jibbers there by building them a huge terrain park, pipes, rails, boxes, sacks, suitcases, whatever you want to call them. Summit now becomes more family oriented and more carver friendly too! I also head up to Mammoth whenever I get the chance to do so.
  16. I just spoke to my bro in Rivertin and he is pumped about carving with other guys in the area. He says he doesn't like carving cuz he is usually the only one at the resort that he goes to. I might need a ride one day as I don't thik my brother can get all those days off, Is that possible form one of you Utah locals?
  17. I know that is has been talked about on the old message board but I need to know if the dates had ever been finalized for the UES. I will be coming up from Southern Cal and staying with my bro in Riverton. I just need to know the dates so I can book my flight. Also, did you ever finalize decisions on where we will be riding? I know that lots of resorts were suggested.
