  1. D-Sub, If you are interested in shipping boards back for a tune, how bout shipping them back with mine. I have a Prior 4WD 179 to send back. I just sent a board to Wi via FedEx Ground and that seemed to be the most cost effiecient way to ship vs. UPS. WE can lash the boards together with some foam spacers between them and split the costs. Let me know what you think.
  2. If I ship my boards to you, would you tune and ship back. Not sure if there is a place in Southern Cal that I would entrust my boards too unless someone here has a suggestion, D sub?? Nekdut??
  3. Greg, just curious if you were able to get the board boxed up and shipped out, you mentiond that you might do it on Sunday. Let me know OVR If you stillhave pics could you send me one, thanks
  4. Yes, you do only have to fuss with one bolt(the kingpin) if you have a second board kit, like myself. I love it for the fact you carry an allen wrench with you and swap boards with in a few mnutes, sometimes the small set screws need to be cinched down but most times, tighten the kingpin and ride. I love Cateks, I like TD1s too, haven't tried the TD2s for a direct comparison but just the time in changing boards is a great feature on the Cateks.
  5. Thanks for all the inquiries.
  6. Strider, not sure of the model year, maybe 02-03. It is near new, I will snap some pics and post em. Aaron
  7. I have a used Proton that I purchased last year from a guy who only rode it twice. I didn't ride it at all. It does have some binding marks on the top sheet but other than that no scratches. The bottom is pristine. It still has the structure marks in the base. I'm not sure of the sidecut radius or width but I'm sure someone here can provide me with that info. The graphics are a black/red combo. $200+shipping

    sale!!!!!

I am interested in the F2 all mountain carver. What conditioni s it in? Any major dings in the top sheet or bottom? Let me know.
  9. Chubz, I have a Oxy Proton 172 Gs in immaculate shape, no bottom scratches, abrasion marks from the bindings is all. If no trade, send me pics and a price. vzn061zp@verizon.net
  10. Is this Kevin?? I was curious if the Furnace that you are advertising are compatible with Intec heels. Let me know. Aaron from SoCal
  11. That is quite impressive to crank out 227 hp out of the 2.0, how bout 300 hp out of the STI version. The only question I have is how long the motors will last, when youare cranking nearly 14 lbs of boost into the engine, it usually makes for shorter life engines. Then again, probalbly most of the Saabaru drivers won't have the cars long enough to hit the engine failure mark. How many of you are subie drivers are using a post luber?? That will definitely add some engine life. I added one to my turbo Volvo, it keeps the oil circulating throught he turbo after the engine has been turned off. Do the exhasust maniflods glow red on Subies like it does in my Volvo?? I thought I was cooking somethin but my Volvo mechanic says it is normal. YOu can't see the glow in the daylight but pop open the hood in the evening and you could cook some burgers on that manifold.
  12. Me too!! I wanna go this year, I missed last year, I don't want to miss another one. I'm all for rooming with fellow carvers to keep the $$$ affordable.
  13. Tim, Not sure of the composition of the material but I believe that it is a vibration dampener of some sort. The footbeds have a little more thickness and support than stock Burton footbeds. The sorbothane beds also leave your sock bottoms nice and green, which is an added bonus.
  14. Fin, thanks for the data on the leg shaving part, yeah the data about Lance was great but only makes me wish I was Lance. I knew that shaving my legs had an effect on my riding so then it should be assummed that shaving my head and arms will help also. Oh I got some chest hair to get rid of too. Dang, when I am done I'll be as fast as Petacchi, (during the Giro, not the TdF Petacchi). did anyone else see the message painted in the road that read "Rip their balls off Lance" it was near the finish. I think he did just exactly that. Basso must've been demoralized to have your two minute man pass you on the climb, Hang in there Basso, only a few more days. If Lance rides the ITT later this week like he rode today, WOW!! I've been listening to sports radio for the last few days here in SoCal and they're saying that Lance is the greatest cyclist ever. I called one program and let them know about a gentleman named Eddie Merckx, from Belgium who was going for his sixth tour win and an angry french spectator stepped out and slugged him in the stomach during a stage, Eddie ended up losing the Tour due to stomach pains from the incident. Eddie also won a few Giro d' Italias, Vuelta Espanas and many spring classic races. Lance has only focused on the Tour, Lance has won a few single day races but not t the extent that Merckx did. My .02 cents worth
  15. Whoa!!! I was kind of bummed when I missed the deadline to order a Madd board due to lack of funds but after seeing the choices for topsheets I'm ecstatic that I didn't have the funds. Whatever happened to just a plain top with a few small graphics, like the builder of the board and maybe a model name or number. Donek, Prior and Coiler you can order one up that way, Madd you need to rethink your choices. I will just conitinue to ride my all white Prior 179 4WD with solid black bottom.
  16. Being that I use the road and mtn bikes for someof my cross training in the summer months I am a cycling fan. Lance, as of today, vaulted from 9th place to 2nd place in the GC(overall). I went inot work late so I could see the race as this was the first dayin the mtns. I believe I saw greatness today. He left all his rivals at least two minutes+ behind him and continues to look stronger and stronger. Lance, besides being a great competitor is also an incredible sportsman. At the top of the climb today, he let Ivan Basso win the stage and took second place, even though Lance, if he had won, would've received a 20 second time bonus. According to Lance, he let Basso win because he worked hard today, I felt that he needed to win. What a guy!!! What the hell is with Greg LeMond coming out and declaring that Lance needs to just admit he is using drugs, instead of trying so hard to hide them. Greg, I used to have the greatest respect for you, especially after getting shot and coming back and winning the Tour, but quit your bitchin'. Can't wait for tommorow's stage and especially the individual time trial up Alpe d" Huez. Tune in!!!!
  17. Tim, same here. My foot shape must be the same as the last for building the liners. I've used Burton's exclusively and have never had a problem with them. I currently use Fires in a 27.0 even though my foot size is a 28.5. The fires are little snug when I first buclkle them up but after a few runs, cinch them down again and I am good to go. One thing I do is get rid of that burton footbed?? I go to my local Big 5 and pick up some sorbothane footbeds, these seem to give a bit of cushion under the foot.
  18. Tommy D, the LeMond Proprad is what is known as a cyclocross bike, what is cool about this bike is you can ride it on the road as well as off road. It comes with knobby tires usually 700X38 that can handle light duty on the dirt, if you want to ride the road, just buy a set of nice road tires to toss on it when you feel like pounding the pavement while doing your best Lance Armstrong impersonation. The Poprad also comes with center pull canti brakes, these brakes are considerably more powerful than the current dual pivot sidepulls on road bikes. Plus if you do take the bike off road the center pull brakes provide clearance if you ride in the mud. LeMond bikes, including the Poprad use steel, one of the few manufacturers left doing this. Steel tends to take some of the road vibrations and irregularties and absorbs them in the frame, carbon and titanium also do this. Aluminum, especially at the price point that you are looking at tend to transmit that vibration into your body. There is a long time debate as to what is a better ,material to build a frame with, you can read all about this debate on: mtbr.com or roadbikereview.com Hope this helps OVR
  19. Waterskiing, most people just cruise behind the boat, slowing down to cross the wake, what do we do? Rock back on our edge, snatch the rope into our hip, lean the shoulders back and hang on. " What wake?? I didn't feel any wake. I have a 1988 Ski Nautique 2001 and that throws up a pretty big wake for most long liners, put a good skier behind it and the wake is not an issue. I have gone out over the front of the ski on a few occasions, never impacted it though, knock on wood. There have been a few times when I get my weight forward on the tip as I am going through the wake, try to catch my balance and ski right up onto the shore. It's not fun. The tourney lakes that I go to in So Cal have little room between the turn balls and the shoreline, so getting grounded is kind of common. You've never felt a ski decelerate until you ski on the shore. Had to fix a few waterskis with PTex candles and marine tex. Hope you heal soon, summer is still in its infancy, hopefully you can get out on the water soon. The best falls for me occurred when I was trying to learn how to barefoot backwards, can you say neck whip. I only barefoot forwards, throw in a couple tumble turns and some one footers and I 'm good
  20. Did you go out over the front of the ski?? How did you do it or do you remember? I've had my scariest moments while accelerating through the wake, got pulled out over the front of the ski. I felt that I could kiss my ski tip. The only head injuries that I have received from skiing is two ruptured eardrums. I was trying those Mike Kjellander slam dunk turns at 35 off and slammed the water hard with my head. Immediate and intense pain, tried to stand, fell over. Something is not right here, what is this liquid oozing down the side of my face?? INnner ear fluid, the stuff that helps with your equilibrium. Took 4 months for the ear to heal to ski again, now I ski with earplugs. Earplugs as probably do helmets take away some of the perception as to how fast you're going, since youcan't hear the wind across your ears anymore. At least, not as loud. For awhile I was running the course at 37/38 mph until I got used to the lack of wind noise. Using a helmet I woudl be concerned about the water gettin under the helmet and ripping it off your head. It wouldn't be as bad as the off-shore boat racers who would flip their boats going 100 mph and the water would pop off their hlemets along with their heads, not a pretty sight. Thank goodness for F-16 style cockpits for the offshore racers.
  21. Being an capable slalom water skier(personal best 6 @ 35 off), a ex-snow ski racer and a pretty capable carver I thought that article was way off in left field. There are so many things that are diffrent slalom skiing vs. snow skiing. Body position is by far the biggest thing. Water skiing your shoulders need to be back, hips need to be forward and knees slighlty bent. Break at the waist, shoulders move forward, next thing is bad bad things happen to you. Snow skiing, shoulders forward, break at the waist, and knees slightly bent. Upper torso facing down the fall line. Let your legs swing like pendulums under you, is about the only thing that I see that is similar. Ins snow sking there is no pull from the boat at 36 mph, my back never hurts snow skiing, put me on a slalom course, behind a boat and I'm only good for a few short line passes. Oh well, I will send an email to the editor now.
  22. California will always have higher priceson gas than any other state in the union. The reason for this is if you look on the pump there is a sticker that says you are paying 0.40 + cents tax per gallon of gas, this tax is always assessed no matter what the wholesale/retail price of gas is. We also have a spike in prices when the fall season approaches because we have to use the reformulated gasoline for emission controls, during the cooler temps. One funny reason that i heard that we need to tuse the reformulated gas is in the fall/winter is that the leaves have fallen off the trees and therefore, the trees cannot convert the carbon dioxide into oxygen as efficiently as the trees can during the summer months. The reformulated crap is supplemented with MTBE, which dilutes the gas and you don't get as many BTU's per combustion in the engine. Use more gas, buy more gas, produce more CO2, is this thing cyclical or what???? Another funny thing is that the MTBE that they use in the fuel, is once it passes through the exhaust pipe, it falls into our resevoirs and pollutes the drinking water. Some resevoirs won't let you launch your boat if you have MTBE fuel in your boat's fuel tank. I better stop before I get on the rant about diesel fuel costs
  23. I made a set of 3 hole disks for my 4x4 Snow Pro bindings. The machine shop knocked 'em out in a day. I did have to do some dremel work on the base plates of the bindings, there is still plenty of material as not to cause a concern. If you want more info, send me an email.
  24. Eddie, the reason I was not there was weather. I was planning on taking my plane there but the weather just didn't cooperate. I am not familiar with the surrounding terrain up there either, small planes and hard mtns don't mix too well. I will definitely be there next year, I plan on flying commercially so there will be no problems with weather.
  25. anyone else receive a bad email from: webmaster@bomberonline, Tried to open but Norton AV caught it before I did anything. Is it just me??
