  1. As someone who plays with hardboots but is primarly a softboot rider the transition is a fairly easy one especially if you already ride in directional or my case semi directional stance. Hardest part for me is to try not to pedal and bend the board to my will instead just relax and enjoy the ride
  2. @daveodont know if you have it on already but the orignal assetto corsa and all its dlc is on steam really cheap right now
  3. My opinion is i need two hands to fasten them easily but ive never really tried it with any binding single handed. Ill give it a try when i ride on sunday but i have the feeling its going to be a faff. As for boot im a size 10.5us(salomon lofi) in the large size binding.
  4. just home from work i'm pretty sure you can but ill double check in a bit for you. [EDIT] Just checked its completely tooless and takes under two mins to switch [EDIT]
  5. Donek built a stiffer flexing incline for me with non directional flex(not sure if standard on incline) where the nose is the same stiffness as the tail. For me one of the most important things is to have a board i can rely on to not buckle especially in the nose where it hits choppy or soft snow id rather it try to punch through that bend and climb. The Sg soul is a great board but the softer nose is not to my liking it had a habit of overflexing on turn entry leading to the board wanting to enter a turn far to tight often causing my weight getting thrown further forward leading to the turn becoming even tighter again.... and for a laugh this is what happens when the a Salomon rep asks what i thought of the stiffness of there HPS surf carve/pow board
  6. lateral flex is pretty much what i look to avoid on a binding for how i ride and was one of the reasons i found the burton stepon bindings down right terrifying to ride in choppy snow . I want very little for a couple reason namely i tend to pull and push the board fore and aft rather than do it by weight change while carving (I have a fairly unconventional riding style). Also i want to be able to center flex the board effectively and have a binding with less lateral flex allows more leverage to be applied and therefore the turning radius reduced. For example i can my donek down to a sub 2m(possibly 1.5m) radius carved turn even though its smallest radius is 9m on the vsr. The other is if i ride into slow soft snow i want to slow with the board and not get thrown forward and possibly wreck my ankles. I have a fairly odd riding style though so what i like in a binding in terms of flex and play might not be to other peoples liking.
  7. It does look pretty minimal looking at there website, My biggest issue with unions were there disks are pretty much made of swiss cheese theyd always fail around the burton 2 hole mount all the time, ironically my solution was to switch to old 4 hole burton disks which dont have that weak spot.
  8. So after this mornings quick two hour snowboarding session Ill say the Flux CV is probably one of the best carving bindings ive ridden, maybe not quite as good as my karakorams but there very close with a atleast one thing that is better. The base and highback are very stiff. There is little to no flex in the base and a little bit of tortional flex in the highback but pretty much zero if you try to push back into the highback. This results in a very responsive binding you move and the board will move there in lag or padding to squish down before your movement is transferred to the board. The downside is if you need padding in the binding there is pretty much none here. The straps are very good especially the toe strap which has a part that will protect the ladder during toe edge turns to stop it getting caught and bent rearwards, I will probably switch this over to my karakorams for future use. Ankle strap is very similar to that of the karakoram providing a very snug secure hold. I have one small anoyance that being the ladders due to the design of binding cant be laid flat at the side of the binding so your foot wont catch and stand on it while strapping in. the ankle one can go behind the highback but the same cant be done for the toe strap. Very minor ill admit and on a mountain where your not strapping in and out as often as me at an indoor snow dome it will be even less of an issue. I have one little worry and that is the strength of the binding disk due to the way its desgined centering the binding is done via the disk and as result the holes are offset also. This leads to there being less material at the heel edge of the disk which is where they generally fail for me... But the base of the binding is so stiff it might not be an issue because if the base doesnt flex the leverage and resulting force applied to disk will be significantly less.
  9. I'll get to test out my CV's tomorrow but you largely echo my thoughts. Id heard Flux bindings had little padding but i wasnt expecting it to be pretty much nothing .
  10. I'm getting on pretty well with it i might even be a bit faster over a handful of laps but i think atleast how i drive seems to make the tyres fall off quite a bit quicker. I noticed racing online at monza where i got a couple 1.51's back to back without trying then for the laps afterwards i noticed i was starting to have significant problems in the heavy braking zones. I've not had a huge amount of time to put in a lot of time as im back at work now and i have the ok to start exercising so this weekend i got on the bike for a bit of pedal and snowboarded for a bit on sunday
  11. I have a pair of flux cv hopefully arriving on Saturday, I'm really happy with my Karakorum bindings but I want a new pair for my playing about board which doesn't need a super stiff carbon fiber binding to drive it
  12. It really needs an extra 1cm at the waist unless your running fairly aggressive forward angles, small feet or favor softer conditions. Ive generally found 26cm waist to be quite explosive in how it lets go at boot out lots of grip right until bang you boot out and all grip is gone.
  13. Not had a chance to try it yet but itll be interesting to see how the new tyre model affects the setups lol nice to see DLSS and FSR for some free fps
  14. Thanks Daveo i gave one of the spa setups a whirl and its defintely a bit better than what i was using though i did find myself having to loose some air out of the tyres as I found my driving style was leading to the fronts going upwards of 28.5 psi :s . I wouldnt say its made me faster over one lap but it has increased the speed at what i can comfartably lap at. previously id average 2.24/25s but now its more like 23/24s. If i get the perfect lap ill probably be able to get to 2.20 but i fear at that point im going to start running out of talent and finesse
  15. yeah this was partly why i mentioned the shift lights being far to early in the rev range as i think its all blue at around 7100.... Ive found if you murder the inital curve on the left hand side you can generally get through with no lift or at very worse one thats a fraction of second just to settle the car. what ive noticed i cant do on the 650/720 is touch the right hand curve at all as it just causes instant understeer and sends me left over the second right hand curve. I find the curve a bit hit and miss sometimes it works well other times it unsettles the car and causing it wanting to snap oversteer as i turn into the left hander. Well a miracle somehow happened i won my first online race and it just happened to be at spa
  16. Ill give it a go see if its to my liking :), do you want my email? I tossed the setup i had in the bin and decided to try my monza setup to see if that was better and it was instantly 2s a lap faster and much easier to control. I got down to a 2.22.1 and was on for a 2.21.5 until i screwed up the final bus stop chicane. I reckon if i can tune out the little bit of understeer it currently has i could probably loose another second or two. One thing i really have noticed is the shift lights on 720 flash way to early in the rev range for peak acceleration i really wish i could push them 4-500rpm up the rev range so im not having to look at the rpm readout directly.
  17. Its fine dont worry about it, I wasnt having a good evening at all i tried a supposdly fast setup but it wasnt working for me it was feeling like i was having to constantly fight the car pretty much everywhere.
  18. I was very very lucky and read the 1st lap chaos fairly well to be able to thread my way through the maddness I found your server only problem being my ping to it is 314ms
  19. Very nice reminds of wrapping my hockey stick when i was kid Is that 12 very real hours daveo, I seriously doubt i could be consistant that long. One strange thing i did discover last night is apparently im better than average at driving in the rain as i managed to get 3rd last night in an online race at the hungaroring after starting 18th I'm guessing real life experience of driving in the pissing rain here might have something to do with it .
  20. One place i do know where im loosing time is the direction changes through les combes, campos and the bus stop chicane. I have to be very very careful or ill get over steer after the direction change mid chicane which massively limits just how agressive i can be.
  21. Nice fun video good to see another conasure of what i call the eurotrip(carve into the 360 tripod) have you tried it from heeledge for some added difficulty? https://www.instagram.com/p/B3AQ4-_FJti/
  22. Spa i cant remember to be honest i just know when i tried spa online i was massively off pace by about 12s from what the fast guys were doing and worryingly i couldnt understand where i was so slow. 2.17-2.18's seem to be pretty respectable when having a quick google. EDIT did a few laps and managed to get to 2.24.2 with 65lt of fuel probably if i was to drop down to 15lt id maybe get to a 2.22/3 but ive no idea where id find another 4-5s
  23. Two for me one is trail building in my area but my poor health has pretty much put a stop on that until at least the spring. One I did before falling ill The other is my the graphic for my next board which has kind of been on the back burner and struggling to find the motivation due to not being able to snowboard for the last year due to rona restrictions.
