  1. I decided to go with a new Angrry 160 order in to Bruce
  2. Thanx Bob I have PMd you. Still looking.
  3. After a great year getting back into carving i have decided to supplement my freecarve and GS boards with an SL board for riding on a crowded mountain and expanding my exercise regimen before i consider upgrading anything else. Time to up the burn. I have been reading the various SL threads avidly and learned a lot (in theory). Based on price I will probably talk to Bruce about a Coiler (Angrry or Race). I am however budget constrained so wanted to see if anyone was willing to part with a used board before i make the call, with or without bindings. Boards of interest: Angrry 160 MK Kessler 168 (162) SG Jasey Jay Madd 158 Open to other suggestions as well. Rider stats: 185 lb, 6', M28.5
  4. Got into the pond for my first water ski of the season - it was cold
  5. I have an old burton Stat 6 with burton step ins that I could let you have for $100 plus shipping. It may be a bit short for your needs but it is a GS board and quite damp at higher speeds. Board is in very good condition. Step ins set up for M28.5 boots.
  6. Perhaps by invite only and requiring a minimum number of members supporting the request including moderators
  7. Thanx Jack and Fin. I was extremely fortunate to miss buying a board on eBay and finding BOL instead. I am grateful for still being here and having this forum to support my aging person! It’s been awesome to meet and interact with you all and it has kept me engaged. Blessed to be able to continue. :))
  8. Hi Gord I have searched but I don’t see this posting anywhere
  9. I was wondering whether I should have been more specific at the boundaries (40-49. 50-59 etc) but got lazy. Sorry to make you feel older than you are!
  10. Arriving at first lift this morning I was suprised to see all the "old" people in line. Then the moment of blinding insight struck - they were probably the same age or maybe even youger than I am. It got me thinking about the demographics of the carving community which i perceive as aging so question 1 is to identify age groups for carvers and question 2 when they started to carve. Boot type is not important.
  11. 16 runs later this morning I could not agree with you more. First time ever that I have appreciated the slow ride to the top.
  12. For only the second time this season I managed to spend the first 2 hours this morning in almost perfect conditions. This was the best carving experience that I can remember and I can say with conviction that I am now a better carver than I ever was in the past. My evolution from 90s Swiss based carving techniques to the current angulation approach has been enabled in part by the interest @Eric Brammer aka PSR has taken in me and the rest to the people and content on BOL. Which brings me to the appreciation part. I was more than surprised at the warm and informed response that I received to my first newbie post on BOL. I have since watched with increasing respect many thoughtful and patient responses to every new request for help. It is clear that there is a large number of both passionate but also very competent people who support this forum that makes it a must to review almost every thread. As someone who is not particularly social media oreinted I find myself visiting BOL multiple times per day and its obvious that I am not alone. I appreciate this forum and just wanterd to thank all of you who regulalrly support people like me.
  13. I was a Vaalie but played water polo against a lot of them thru the 70s and 80s
  14. Hi Corran Were you born in Durbs? Living very different lives it would not surprise me if we knew a bunch of the same people at the Durban surf life saving club. brian
  15. At Wachusett this week. Kid asks me if that is a single ski. Another says “Cool - it’s an alpine board”. It still surprises me how many people state that they have never seen anything like it before.
  16. Man were you set up or what??? :) i have been watching this thread with interest, would have been interested in buying this myself if I could have afforded it now. i look forward to hearing your feedback if you do take it
  17. Invariably alone. Bumped into a carver once and have not been able to overlap with GeoffV yet. i am used to this but would enjoy riding with others occcasionally.
  18. MSN - hope they recover and get better soon
  19. Watching multiple videos I have been observing what looks like a forward twist in the upper body in the direction of the turn as the board moves from down the fall line across the slope. I have not been able to pin the down cleanly, thinking that maybe camera angle is playing a role (error of carvallax?) but watching this video, between 2:00 and about 2:30 when Nevin is driving and accelerating I see it clearly in the movement of his right hand forward and across / towards the front of the board. Is this typical and is its purpose acceleration or adding pressure to the edge?
  20. Thanx for the link. I was stuck in Graechen, a village in the same valley before Zermatt, in the 90s when a bridge on the only road in was washed away. Great if y U are a local, e pensive if you have already burned through your vacation savings and expected to be elsewhere. that’s a lot of snow for the area!
  21. a real increase for me but still wishful thinking for the rest of the season.
