  1. OK...Great Opening day at Milkland
  2. Hello, the Stiffest SB for performance, is a third strap up top and a locked High back, of course one of the greatest fallacies about a third strap is it eliminates Ankle Flex, this of course is not true, you can loosen or make the strap out of leather to provide as much flex as you want, also the Material of the High Back matters as well...the point is while you try to find Hard Soft Boots, you can use slippers with a third strap...just sayin
  3. Oh yea, now you get it… our daughter started ballet at two as a mouse in the Nutcracker, as a High School Senior she was Clara she averaged around 2 hours a day of stretching and Forms for near twenty years, then ends up a Childrens Therapist, so what’s the point? Practice… every turn is Practice, you can’t escape that Reality, years ago at Milkland there was a Snowboard competition, two disciplines Slalom on Main and Downhill over on Tiehack where the annual “Town Downhill” is run I remember watching the Slalom from the bottom, looking straight uphill, I remember thinking, somebody should film this, incredible!! as Some would say that is like a Thousand turn run The next day was the Downhill, typically the speeds reach over 70 mph, well I parked myself at the bottom of the compression and watched those same Slalom dancers totally Blown Away, with many Sticks around 200 cm. I had watched many WC races and never seen such carnage, I believe it was this race where they All said “never again…I have years of Run after Run, the Slope and Undulation are used to Help the Snowboard Carve, I try to keep my Ruts more like Pencil lines, of course this is done by a constant pressure in and out of the Turn, I think of each run as One Turn…finally I would say doing the same run over and Over leads to greater anticipation, and for me personally Good Anticipation is one of the main keys for a fun day out there
  4. the Clickers had this problem, I sold them after my friends kept taking runs while I was trying to get the ice off so they would Click
  5. Snowmass has a lot uh Edges ...Cowabunga, 2nd day wonders, the new Stick is Pow friendly
  6. 6ft. 165 lbs. 3 strap...Union Force SB set up Descent snow at Sams Knob today, 1st day out...38th season on a Stick Burton 158 3D Double Dog with a 7.6 rad. Liked this Stick, even better than the Land Lord series, the 3D aspects are quite marvelous, will devour Pow when available...I really like having moved all my Sticks to shorter lengths, mixed with all the new technology, a long way from the 173 Supermodels years ago...
  7. That's funny, a real name for the Performer was "Good Luck" only hit the surface harder riding the one wheel I definitely prefer the Modern Sticks, Eh? Fact is, the Edge is what does the Carving, regardless of what is on your feet...
  8. Thank you Winter Your videos are not just Great, they always leave me Smiling
  9. Cowabunga!! a real Joy to see grand daughters Kiara and Lexi progressing down in Nica Kiara Lexi
  10. Simply bolt the high back up and add a top strap then you are both soft and hard...and I don't sit to strap in, never have...yea, it does take about 15 seconds to do 3 straps, but the high speed chairs make that irrelevant...then again, I live where the Hero snow is...so a 2x10 with tennis shoes would probably work
  11. just the other day at Pipe, Backdoor...
  12. the Premise of Hard vs. Soft is a waste of time and speculation...like the boss says, soft boots are not winning world cups, so let's move on...
  13. Seriously, if only 40 years younger Totally Awesome !!
  14. 2 new Sticks... Looking forward to some turns Left...a Stranda 159 Bowlrider with Homemade 3 straps, Union "Force" Right...a Burton 158 3D Double Dog with Homemade 3 straps Burton parts
  15. I am aware of Commercial fishing practices...this article was referring to the impact on new spawns of Snow crabs and a general die off by Billions due to rising sea water temperatures, at least I thought that was what I read? anyway we will know soon enough...guessing you haven't noticed any changes in your local ski areas over the last 15 years?
  16. Here is another SIGN... https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/16/us/alaska-snow-crab-harvest-canceled-climate
  17. Having lived here in western Colorado, for over 50 years now, at an elevation of 8,000ft. I can say with certainty that something is amiss... we have lost trees by the millions due to Beetle infestation, we have Warmer temperatures, that are above freezing for most of the year...we have Rain in January at 12,000ft. at Midnight, we have rains on all the mountains during spring skiing, we have very few days now of perfect Colorado groom due to Freeze thaw cycles, icing up the slopes, this is combined with the Grooming equipment evolving into High Speed super thin Ice layers now I am curious if Others on this Forum have noticed and would share their thoughts on what is happening in their Areas... Thank You...
  18. The Union "FORCE" binding is really easy to convert to a 3 strap... a couple bolts and an old leather belt cut with added buckles and wallah... They have other colors as well I figure, nobody would steel a stick with pink bindings...
  19. Wishing I was able to give this some Time
  20. Sweet John !! the Silver Surfer lives on...
  21. Milkland and surrounding areas have some Snow, over 70 pass went up another 75, but $629 for the season Premier Pass is still a great deal...
  22. Just opened this new Stranda Stick from Mats, from over in Sweden...a 159 Bowlrider Stickers on and ready to Carve some.... Sweet Stick should compliment the Hometown Hero and 3D double dog leaning against the wall nicely
