  1. stio look sweet, but i ride marmot and an oakley cause i got a deal i couldn't refuse. the oakley has zipper issues after a couple years. main zipper. annoying. marmot is at least ten years and still going strong. need to have the forearm pass pocket and helmet friendly hood. neoprene or something cuffs are pretty sweet to keep the snow out. internal phone pocket. couple extra pockets for 'stuff'. rigid items get stored in my pant pockets. abrasion resistant, windproof and good waterproof. nothing too heavy. shell and layer is the way.
  2. looking at the numbers for both, seems pretty serious and thought out. 6000 while an extremely tight sidecut is a 3/5 flex instead of 4/5 and sized 150-158 with an ee of 1242-1318mm, full camber. 26.1-26.5w 9000 is more of a real deal directional snowboard with a focus on carving that more experienced folks will gravitate towards. flex is 4/5 and sized 152-164 with an ee of 1262-1376mm, full camber. 26.8-27.4w the construction is basic. sustainable this and that. edges are 'serrated' and a 3D contour base/nose. while not a custom and not for everyone, the exposure it creates and a real focus on soft boot carving is a step in the positive direction; pun intended. if anyone is going to get this to stick, it's this guy and through the platform he's created. the 3D nose is something that almost makes me noxious seeing it on this board. now i'm confused; what is it? i don't know how turn/tune friendly some of these 'added' features are. history shows that there is a trend for mass market boards to come up with different features and technology to help the board turn for you. some features even inhibit edge contact and hold. float sounds/sells better than grip. features that just make it easier are something i tend to look away from. these types of boards have the tendency for a lower threshold of limitations to achieve a greater performance. realize that not everyone is looking for greater performance. that's the elephant in the room. if we're not growing, we're dying. that's just how it is and this board falls right where it needs to for the market. Jones is putting the vibe out and sharing the stoke. life's a garden...
  3. sounds like T2 at the river pushing to open while the colors are still pretty. we're at least due for a couple good 6" storms at some point. it can only get better. thank a snowmaker.
  4. great point @crackaddict. take a serious look at effective edge when looking for carve oriented tool. this is probably one of the major differences between mainstream and custom. when we think custom with the majority of the crowd on this forum, we're thinking carving. alpine snowboarders at any level know this ee or running length spec. it can be a mind boggling concept for others to understand sometimes. simple concept, but i think most mainstream shoppers are looking at brand, length, graphic and maybe waist. knowing about sidecut is a new concept to some. effective edge (ee) is just as important as waist width; especially for carve focused riding. next is probably sidecut (parabolic, vsr, radial, etc). then overall length. the "swing weight" beyond the effective edge is something to consider. the majority of mainstream boards have less ee, tighter sidecuts and more swing weight. we know all boards can carve, but there is a method to the madness of how boards are designed to better achieve this specific carve performance of a snowboard. some better than others. rider preferences play a huge role. some of us like only carve boards. some all mountain. i know a few different folks that ride the commissioner as a directional free carve, free ride, race board, half pipe and freestyle. the board can be used however the rider intends. not a one trick pony, but it's a bull to ride for most mainstreamers. the ripsaw x has an 8.1m radius on the 162 and 1230 ee with some sort of rocker/camber combo (isn't this just flat?). commissioner has 11m radius on the 162 and 1228 ee with camber and early rise. tom burt 162, 10.25m, 1257ee, full camber. SG soul 159, 9.75m, 1390ee, full camber (the RCR is slight only when standing on board. i mean slight as in only because it says it in the marketing.) i have the 64xt soul. these sidecuts can determine the turn shape, but as the video demonstrates, it's not always turning the fixed radius of the board spec. experienced riders can manipulate the board to turn in many different ways. look at ryan knapton with the 17m boards and whipping around like an 8m. shorter in length for the intended style or riding, but full camber and a larger ee than mainstream specs. this is where the science meets the art of the turn. athletic abilities apply. reading terrain, fall lines, etc. is all part of it. the design of such niche boards isn't part of the mainstream yet because they don't sell as well as what has been made and proven over the history of snowboarding. some of us know better and some prefer these specs, but not the mainstream. again, yet. they can be just too extreme for one discipline. some companies see this and are making a difference. we know these companies. it takes gut$ to test the market for anything as niche as this and hope that interest continues to grow. run what ya brung.
  5. The 169 flc says titanal but can’t see at sidewall like you can with coiler. I trust the tag and the seller on this. Smooth transaction.
  6. red TD3 discs sold. black available that fit TD2 and TD3.
  7. I’d give my left ankle for 2015 but that was 2021. Great vids to learn from.
  8. hi @matt wynn welcome to ASB. the pictures are great. this is what people want to see. this is a nice board, but it does need a fair bit of work to clean it up to be considered good or excellent condition. the topsheet looks like it held up a bit better than the base. it is the base that matters. specs such as sidecut radius and waist width are also helpful and most buyers find it necessary to know prior to purchase. if you send the tail code number to Sean or Donek, they'll be able to get you this information. a requested price is also helpful. good luck with the sale.
  9. whatchyu c is whatchu get. offers. conus and special request available.
  10. @ShortcutToMoncton @Poloturbo @Corey no idea this would be the case. thank you for letting me know. i will make things right and please reach out to me PM directly to how you feel this can be made right for you. i would've absolutely refused shipment. that's ridiculous and never meant to put anyone in this sort of situation. ups was showing a week eta and i thought this was better than the 1-4+ that usps was showing. this totally backfired and sincerely apologize. usps to canada from now on. NOTED. this isn't the sh.t storm anyone wants to deal with trying make a new product available, but i'll deal with it privately per individual. i had i think four orders go out to our friends from the north recently and please please, all PM my arse and we'll work it out. no stress. learning curve. taking the good with the bad. etc. thank you for letting me know and understanding of the situation!
  11. i am unaware of alpine equipment available in retail stores in north america, nevermind new england. it's all on the web. as suggested, look through forums to find what might work best for you with regards to boot/bindings. UPZ site is under maintenance, but maybe this will help: mondo = cm (naked feet, standing, trace to paper. if you measure in morning first thing, this measurement will be smaller, evening larger. i say pick larger, but some may say average to find the mean sample of at least ten days of measuring. i'm kidding, kind of.) UPZ - wider feet, great heel hold. step in or bails. i have narrow feet and happy with UPZ so some personal preferences too. deeluxe - narrower feet (Track 325 softer or 425 stiffer)/wider feet (track 700), HIGHLY recommend BTS for lean mechanism. select spring stiffness for preference. step in or bails. either boot will work and/or can be fitted to accommodate uniqueness to the rider. there are many threads about this! just have to look around here on the forums and use the search bar in top right. i think search bar only searches the forum of the page your currently on so go to home page for search. used, found here. likely need new liner (+200) if purchasing used. new at donek or yyzcanuck F2 bindings have step in or bails. flex and support start at RS model and go up to a step in with the Titanflex and then the titan race. titan race is most popular. these allow for some forgiveness when riding with some lateral movement between boot/bails, although clamped tight on boot. TD3 standards with the bail provide zero movement, found at bomber. TD3 sidewinders with bails provide some lateral movement. i thought there was an alpine instructor at attitash or north conway area in nh. maybe once upon a time. unsure if this is still an option. there was an alpine snowboarder at mt sunapee a few years ago i took a few lift rides with. he was instructing kind of part time, but on call as needed. i do get to sunapee a few times a year myself, so if a mountain person isn't available and you wanted to make the drive from sugarbush lmk. there may be someone at okemo or mt snow area to give some pointers too. good luck and welcome back.
  12. new lift, new spot, eventually. "Fat-bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round". hopefully it runs midweek. riding S M T. test samples available if interested.
  13. if outter holes are being utilized as @BlueB suggests, change bails. i believe base plates are sold one size. toe/heel bails are sold in M and S/L. race titan base has one set of holes.
  14. probably a couple more clicks. lots of medium flex sold. plenty of hards available still. for now. basic POWERRIDE, hard flex has no wings. the W wing model with two wings is a medium size mold (same as basic), but added wings. recommended mondo 26+ one size for W wing model. hoping to restock these soon. not to worry for those curious. can you clarify by "barely notice them"? "works great" sounds like a good thing. thanks for the feedback.
  15. Thanks for the comparison pics @slabber. How’s the flex of this medium flex, medium size basic Powerride compare to the insert model that comes with the stock boot?
  16. this is the theory and presumable objective of having the wings as you say above. this is true. however, when the basic (no wing) POWERRIDE is installed and fixed inside the boot, there is also lateral stiffness added. how much different when compared to wings vs no wings can be objective so there's no hard and fast number or definition of flex. it's a simple product. i like to compare it to the wheel. it can be very efficient at what it does that allows for a greater performance potential which is greatly related to the operator. hand flexing and carpet surfing don't really do them justice to what the rider will actually feel when riding. after a few good turns, the additional support is realized. adapt to them just like anything and rip it hard. if the user only makes bad turns, these will not magically change that, but can try. using extreme angles such as 60 degrees forward with these is completely up to the rider and rider preferences. heck, i'm pretty sure there are already folks that ride these angles without inserts in softiies. it's snowboarding, do what makes you happy. however, the performance will be much different than an actual snowboard alpine hard boot. i think this is obvious. get some and try them out.

  18. no the POWERRIDE currently available without wings is the basic model. thanks for asking.
  19. 1000usd should almost be expected for a legit top of the line board (new). some folks top of the line may vary. that's ok. if it fits, it rips.
  20. to be honest, it was very difficult to find these in the US. this is what has led these to be made available through Alpine snowboarder (ASB). the goal is to help make these more readily available. I am very excited and very fortunate to have this opportunity to help bring these products to the market. I hope they are received as positive and not just some gimmick. POWERRIDE was released in 2000 and it's about time we get on board. you've all seen the very impressive display of athleticism in the softboot carving videos. the potential is there and the discipline of softboot carving is gaining popularity. while still a niche within a niche, there's something there. i've gained an interest in the carving focused discipline due to being bored with general softboot snowboarding and stepped into hardboots. started in '86 and it only took thirty years to try hards. hey, there's something here i said. kinda fun. barriers to entry were a component, monetarily and locating the gear, but i was committed. i got some of my first alpine gear through the forums. the rest is history. everyone has a story. the moral here is that the ASB community is very knowledgeable and usually the first to know, so the launch of POWERRIDE being made available here in a greater sense just seemed appropriate. It is hopefully a start to something larger, but we'll see. stay tuned here on ASB and thank you for all of the interest in POWERRIDE so far. extra HUGE thank you to @Jack M for the help with listing, etc. There's a lot of "etc." behind the scenes for those that don't know. glad to be a part of the team and help support USSRT. any questions/comments/concerns please don't hesitate to post or PM me directly. to my knowledge, this is a new product to the North American market and we can all learn more together here. sharing is caring. if these products help the rider enjoy snowboarding, then awesome. what more can you ask for? stay shredding. -Dave
  21. @ZenBoardn first time i saw him riding it, i thought he was on a k68. it's custom and should be priced like the housing market. just kidding. honest community around here. maybe i'll bump into you at K. might be doing a few days there this year if i can work out my lodging deal.
  22. the Powerride Wing in the store is the W Wing (two wing) model. Powerride Wing (one wing) is not available yet, but maybe soon.
  23. hi @slabber. will PM to discuss your needs.
