  1. It sounds like you should come on both days. The Sundays I have been this year haven't been ridiculous. Slopes a little busy, but nothing like an EPIC resort. Seems like most of the LCI ride all out for the morning then get on the road early to avoid the traffic. Lets get some turns in, John! Aaron
  2. I think this perception might be a side effect of becoming decent at an odd looking sport. People will look at you with a little wonder, and some people (like myself) will get off on that. I rarely rode with other carvers my first season, and I thought I was the hottest piece of garbage on the hill since I could link a few decent turns on a funny snowboard. Man, was I cool...... Then I actually got together with some proficient riders that showed my how cold my garbage actually was. That was the point where I ditched the ego and started riding for my own satisfaction and improvement. Like Ursle said, the nerds on the lift don't even know what they're looking at. Most importantly, have fun, BRUH!
  3. It is sold folks. Thank you! Ok so I'm letting go of my MK to fund a longer short board. If you are unfamiliar with the board please check out the "MADD Killer Strikes Back" thread in the carving community forum. It is definitely one of the most exciting things on snow. Length:161 Width: 18 Sidecut: unpublished but I think it's between 8.5-9.0. I would say it's in 9/10 condition. It probably has 15-20 hours of riding on it (10-15 short mornings). Little cosmetic ding up on the nose from dropping it. Sealed. Base has a couple scratches but nothing big. Still has base structure from Sean. Edges never filed. Took a fine diamond stone to them once and they are super sharp. Will be shipping with storage wax in bombproof packaging. $715 shipping included to lower 48 we can talk price and shipping if you are north of the border. Sorry, not interested in trades I accidentally deleted the photos of the base pre-storage wax. The original base photos can be viewed on the Alpine Snowboard Trader Facebook page where it is also listed. Thanks for looking!
  4. That looks like way too much fun! Super smooth riding and filming. Everyone is killing it! Two more days to wait ........
  5. Well I'm convinced. I'll be a little late. Have to go tend to the animals after work.
  6. Hi Kolton, I have a Burton Alp 169 that was gifted to me that I have to reason to hold onto. I will gladly let you have it if you pay the shipping. Its in good shape save some rust issues on the edges. PSR, would this be a good starting point for a young racer? I think it is 20-21cm wide. Edit :Correction on the Alp size. Thought it was a 164. Probably too big to start on at your weight.
  7. I got super pumped for ice karting until I saw it was $75 for 20 mins. For someone with an addictive personality like mine that spells bankruptcy. I know better than to do that first hit.
  8. I spent some time with a private instructor at Steamboat on some powder days this past week. He used to ride and race plates back in the 90s so he knew what he was doing. All I can say is WOW. My powder and tree riding improved %1000 percent over the course of a day. It is very possible to take plates everywhere (albeit it takes much more physical effort to do it correctly than how I was doing it before). Here is a little huck for your entertainment. For those interested the board is a 23cm Wide Coiler Angrry with a softer stretched nose for AM riding with some of those plastic bindings.
  9. Sean advised centering the stance on the inserts. I have had good results with that. My stance is pretty wide for my height so that might help pressure the nose more than normal. Ive ridden it that way on "ice" and soft conditions and don't see any reason to set it up otherwise.
  10. I want this so bad. So bad, but I can't. Slopestar, make the trade happen so I can try it! Nice board.
  11. Yeah not too many carvers at Breck. It's more of a family/ vacation mountain. I don't recall seeing another one there ever. Is your trip over? I would be down for some carving laps over at keystone or a basin if you are still in town. Glad it was fun!
  12. I was having the exact same problem until I started riding in these bad boys. They are a little soft and lack intec compatibility, but at least I don't have a bunch of nerds constantly asking me what those loud springy things on my boots are.
  13. Sold. Shipped within a few hours too! Great seller.
  14. Those look like larges? If that's the case I'll take them.
  15. PSR, I get the real deal ones from Sean at Donek. I probably beat on them harder and more often than most. Do you think I could get a stronger tnut through McMaster-Carr? I would definitely be interested.
  16. I actually shelved mine for a while so my fitness could catch up to how I wanted to ride the board. Once I got some real legs under me I was able to ride it for more than a few hours with ease. I want to take a lap clicker to the mountain one day to see how many turns I get in compared to my other boards. I was fortunate enough to have it out on absolute hero groom on Monday and Tuesday. You couldn't have wiped the smile off my face if you tried!
  17. I ride the F2 race titanium toe lever and stepins depending on the board. I like the stepins for higher angles (65/60) on my skinnier boards and the toe lever model for mellower angles (50/40) on wider boards since the toe bails are more flexy. The toe lever sidewinders have a flex somewhere between the race ti stepins and toe levers IMO. Definitely be diligent about checking all the parts on the F2s for stress and cracks. I'm ~190 lbs and ride aggressively and the T-nuts on the F2s don't hold up very long under the abuse. Get an extra set of the t-nuts and keep a couple on you or in the car. I pulled some t-nuts that had about 25 days on them that were very bent and starting to crack. I like them, but they definitely require more looking after and small parts replacement than the bombers. Good luck!
  18. We wouldn't want to assume anyone's boot style for fear they might get TRIGGERED. Some believe boot style is a born trait, not learned.
  19. Looking forward to burning one of my 4 paks this Sunday. Looks like it will be a rip roarin' good time.
  20. Thanks for removing the temptation. That was a heck of a deal. If you change your mind I might know a guy
  21. Jim, I'll be there Sunday. They had some more terrain open so hopefully there will be some room to run.
  22. Long post...... I’ve gotten about 50 runs on mine between this season and last on the proto so I feel like I can offer a half-baked write-up on the MK. Bottom line is: HOLY COW THIS THING RIPPPPPPS!!! I’ve been riding it on Arapahoe Basin’s white ribbon of death so I would say conditions are very comparable to the east coast conditions the board was made for. Crowded slopes? No problem. Ice? Rail it! Like catching air? Send it! The edge hold is unfrickinbelievable. I did some back to back runs with my 175 Stubby and the Stubby can’t hold a candle to the MK in terms of grip on ice. Even when my technique would falter, the MK would find the grip instead of blowing out. It was hard to wrap my mind around at first. Even when it gets crowded and cut up it will turn so fast and sharp that any undesirable terrain (or people) can be avoided pretty easily. The pop and transitions are nuts. The transitions are so fast sometimes that they will catch you off guard, because the load in the tail just launches you to the next edge. It has kind of an “auto-pop.” Very fun and very addicting. This also adds up to a lot of speed very quickly. I played around a bit in the park and it will easily land in a carve from a sizeable air and keep ripping. Really stable in the air. I usually look like a grinning idiot after a run. It’s hard to wipe the smile off. This is a short clip of what I would call the board’s “cruising mode.” This isn’t pushing it, just doing what the board naturally wants to do. The aggressive carves are where it shines, but I’m too lazy to get anything more than this right now. https://www.instagram.com/p/BM2MD1TjbLe/?taken-by=kiteparsons So about the negatives…..if you want to call them that. This thing makes A LOT of turns. It doesn’t want to just cruise. It wants to turn so hard your face melts. I found myself having to take breaks pretty frequently on the hill, and I thought I had prepared pretty well. It might be a morning board for some people. A few times later in the day it turned harder than my legs could hold and they buckled almost sending me over the bars faster than I could realize…..time to go home. Sean warned me the base wouldn’t hold wax that well, but my wax made it through the day on abrasive man made snow. He said he used a harder base material than he usually does at the cost of wax absorption. I did whack a few rocks and the base handled it well. As an added bonus I expect I will lose more weight than usual this season. I can’t decide if it burns my lungs or legs more. I imagine twice as many turns means more calories burned. You could say I have a positive opinion of it. Believe the hype. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but everyone should try one. Thanks for reading. I should probably get back to work.
