Agreed! He really should have thought long and hard about trying to compete in both events. He keeps getting hurt and he has never been consistent in slopestyle. He truly is a half pipe technician. I think if the event schedule had been reversed where the pipe contest was before slopestyle I think he would have done both. I think after the event in Mammoth where he was hurt and prior to the x games he should have made a decision then and there. In the end he is a "corporation" and safety and money are the bottom line. I think it would be interesting to see someone else win the gold in half pipe just for something different (kind of tired of the same winner). I like IPod as well, but someone to keep an eye on and who I think has the ability to beat Shaun is Ayumu Hirano from Japan. Also don't count out Greg Bretz from MM! He can beat Shaun, though his issue is the fact that he is not always consistent.

While I understand his decision the sad thing about this is the fact that he took the slot of another deserving US athlete that would have competed in the event. He should have made such a decision before the slopestyle slots were determined (back at the final event in Mammoth).

Of course I know the difference:). Some days I think he is a collector and other days a hoarder....think he is a hoarder when I can't find space for anything in the garage lol :). More?!!!!!! Yes! awesome!! inquiring minds want to know......my guess....300 :). I think he has a couple from you as well. I am thrilled someone has more boards than him:). Wish we had room for all of them like you do:)

OMG. Perfect timing on this thread! We have been remodeling our house for the past couple years. My hubby has so many snowboards that we had to get a storage facility for them:(. Seriously.....I stopped counting at around 150 (no typo). Hopefully one day he sells some of them! They need their own house as we have no space lol......I told him if he does not thin out his collection I plan on submitting him for that show called hoarders (j/k). I really want to know how many Bryan has:)

Herniated Disc - Snowboarding prognosis? / possible surgery...your experiences please

So sorry to hear about your back:( Back issues are the worst for us carvers. I had surgery 1/2009 @ L5-S1, also have disease at L4. I have outlined my pre-surgery and post-surgery condition(s) along with the surgical options that were presented to me back in 2009. I went to several doctors (ortho surgeons, neuro surgeons, Jobe center, UCLA etc....all here in southern california). Here is my synopsis: Prior to surgery I was getting spinal epidurals from 2000-2008 when they finally stopped working. I was also taking light pain medication and doing physical therapy here and there. I tried chiro and acupuncture as well (without success). Initial Diagnosis: -Severely collapsed L5-S1 disk. Grade 1 isthmic spondylolisthesis with a pars defect bilaterally -Degenerative disk at L4-5 with disk desiccation. Posterior anular tear. Obvious spondylolisthesis at L5-S1 with severe disk space collapse. Surgical Approaches: My understanding is that some approaches are different in males and females when it comes to L5-S1 (I have no understanding of why etc...). After consulting with 5 of the best surgeons in southern california I finally found one that impressed me a lot (he came recommended from a friend of mine that played football in the NFL). This doctor outlined my options as follows: 1. The first would be for a 2-level spinal fusion at L4-5 and L5-S1. 2. The second would be for a spinal fusion at L5-S1 accompanied by a disk arthroplasty at L4-5. 3. The third would be for an isolated L5-S1 fusion. Option 1 would have been the most restrictive of movement, highest risk and longest recovery. Option 2 was the preferred (though novel approach). Option 3 the most conservative and quickest recovery. After several appeals with my insurance company they denied option 2 (no surprise there). I ended up with option 3 known as "procedure was anterior interbody fusion, L5-S1 as well as posterior fusion, LS-S1, and posterior bilateral screw percutaneous fixation of L5-S1 as well as delivery of bilateral longitudinal rods subfascial at L5-S1." I had the surgery in January 09 and was in the hospital for approximately 5 days. I had 2 weeks of home PT then moved to aquatic therapy. I was able to strap on my snowboard in May (though I could not ride for long periods). I finished over 80 visits of physical therapy by mid June. The doctor said the fact that I was even able to get on a snowboard and do a couple of runs so soon was considered excellent progress. Though my progress was hard work. The aquatic therapy really helped..........a LOT. My surgery was a success and the pain was gone! However, that was several years ago and now the disease has progressed in L4:( and on top of that I now have , Axial low back pain with left sacroiliitis and sacroiliac joint pain, Left sacroiliac joint pain, Sacroiliitis, Left Trochanteric bursitis, Iliotibial band pain and fibromyalgia:( I was approximately 41 years old when I had my surgery. If I had to do it all over again I sure would, but only with a doctor I fully trust. Looking back I think we should have fought more for the option 2 approach. We tried for 90 days, but one morning we had to call the ambulance because I could no longer walk. Waiting any longer was not an option:( I control my pain now with epidurals in the SI joints, pain meds, physical therapy (pool) and a home TENS/IMF device (this device is a life saver) and foam rollers. I am so sorry you are in pain:( I hope you find this information useful and wish you well:)

Al, As you know I have nothing but problems LMAO:) A couple of things that help me are foam rollers and I FINALLY got approval from my insurance company for a home device that does IFC, TENS and NMES. The device really helps me a LOT! It is made by a company in CO http://www.zynexmed.com/ Your doctor should be able to call a DME provider and order this for you. The device is small so I travel with it all the time. I use it up to 3-4 hours a day and it really helps. Hopefully I can get back to riding next year. This getting old stuff SUX :( I have:  1. post anterior-posterior L5-S1 fusion for spondylolisthesis 2. Degenerative L4-5 disk disease with anular tear 3. Axial low back pain with left sacroiliitis and sacroiliac joint pain 4. Arthrodesis 5. Left sacroiliac joint pain 6. Sacroiliitis 7. Left Trochanteric bursitis 8. Iliotibial band pain Fibromyalgia

FS: Replacement Burton Boot Parts (heel/toe pads)

Ok, the following is to the best of our recollection...The silver/gray and black pair on the left of the picture are toe pieces for larger size Ice, Wind and Fires. Sorry, no heel pieces left. We have a set of 23-24 Ice and that small of a size utilized older type toe pieces or '1's (see below) with the newer style heels and compatible with Intec heels. The black pieces on the right of the picture are two pairs of '1' type toes and heels. On the inside of the heels/toes are a number '1' which were used on early Earth, Shadow, Reactor, Freecarve and maybe other models. The red pieces in the center of the picture are one pair of the '2' type toes/heels. On the inside of the pieces are the number '2' which we've found on larger sizes of later Reactors and other models. Hope this helps somewhat!
