  1. Racing/riding there this weekend. Coiler / Prior, yellow North Face jacket. Paul
  2. To lighten the plate setup, plate manufacturers obviously need to sell a Titanium screw upgrade kit. With the 30 screws needed on some plates, this could really lighten the setup, as well as the users wallet.:)
  3. but is the 'metal', the topsheet? Thanks, Paul
  4. diff state. Appalacian Ski Mountain is near Boone, NC.
  5. I'll be up there this weekend. We are racing both days (slalom Sat, GS Sun). Paul
  6. Not so much a joke, a choice. I'm not riding 55 degrees backwards anywhere, except the odd traverse..
  7. A couple of comments last weekend :- Him> Have you ever tried snowboarding? Me> This is a snowboard. Him> Can you only go in one direction. Me> yeah.
  8. Standard's. Pricing...? Fair market value?
  9. Long plate, OS1 or OS2's. I'll take up to 3 sets. Paul
  10. Well the &%$%&'s decided to cancell the gate running course; and the entire state came out for the $5 lift pass yielding around 11am a whopping 40 minute lift-line's for a 2 minute run. Still it's snowboarding, I think. I gave up at noon - couldn't stand the lines anymore. I ran into Mellow Yellow there - my first BOL user sighting. Nice to chat to a fellow carver.
  11. Sugar's website claims its blowing, but I'm not certain whether to trust it or not. I've attached the flyer for the App gate training clinic. Snowboarders welcome. I'm doing the 'gates, gates, gates' portion of the clinic. Crescent dues are $35/year I think (approx). Paul
  12. This season marks Appalachian Ski Mtn.’s 48th winter season. Continuing a tradition we began in 1986 with our 25th Anniversary, 1962 ski ticket rates will be offered during the day session on the first weekend in December. Due to warmer seasonal temperatures than expected, Anniversary rates will be in effect during the day session on Sunday only. For this day only, ski tickets will be $ 5, regardless of age. As an additional celebration of our first day of the season, the first 100 skiers or riders receive a free ticket."
  13. Binding cant taught me how to carve in softboots. Initially, we glued shims into the bindings. As soon as we noticed how our knees and center of rotation was more centralised, carving soon followed. Soon, manufacturers started offering cant's that could be installed under the bindings. I rode these for a long time. I now ride without cants on all boards.
  14. Yeah, but those aren't stainless...
  15. Brian from Custom Split board is hooking me up with stainless T nuts. If anyone needs any, you might do worse than trying him. Can easily google him, rather than me putting his info out there. Paul
  16. Got the quote - $325 / 1000 for M6 pronged T-nuts in stainless.
  17. I couldn't find any metric T nuts locally. I tried the imperial route, and couldn't find stainless button socket caps....grrrr... So, I decided to purchase the metric M6 stuff locally, and order the T-nuts. I did find a company that will sell the M6 stainless T-nuts, but minimum order is 1000 pieces. I'll let you know what I find out. Anyone need any?
  18. That's the word. I'm planning on doing the Crescent Ski Council gate training course that they are running that day. Maybe ride Sugar the night before... anyone interested in joining in the fun?
  19. I'm rather partial to anything on the Ram Records label. Andy C Moving Fusion is good if you can find it. Ram Raiders compilations. I have em on vinyl, which makes for tricky playing while on the slopes. I think they are more D&B rather than trance. I picked up a copy of the Underworlds Dubnobasswithmyheadman recently - it's pretty great. Here's a video from it :-
  20. I stand mine up across the length of one room. At the end of last season I purchased a bunch of the board hangers shown on this page. They are still in the plastic bag that I bought them in. Haven't figured out yet where I am actually going to hang them. http://www.testpilotgear.com/products/Accessory.shtml

  22. I rode K2 soft boot step-in's (clicker) system for two years, and while I loved the convenience, I never had the right combination of forward lean, no heel lift, and movement fore and aft available in the binding that a good highback binding system has. You can really crank down the straps on a good high back binding, and the high back on good bindings is incredibly stiff, and flat, so you still have fore/aft movement but plenty of response on heel edge. The Clicker system couldn't be tightened down enough to lock my heel down. The highback built into the boot wasn't as nice, as it didn't allow the movement that I like. I eventually switched back to Burton highback bindings, and started loving snowboarding again. On hardboots, having been through failures with Burton and Rattrap bindings, once I found the Catek standard line, I've never found a need to try anything else. The newer hardboot step in systems do look very tasty though. Maybe one day, if I can demo a system, I might try it. I certainly wouldn't have the same complaints as the soft boot systems.
  23. Sweet first timers setup! Mad props to all those involved.
