  1. i will check my old issues to see which one it was.
  2. there was a great article on how to create these type of images in Transworld Snowboarding not too long ago. Talked about everything you might want to know about how to make em
  3. i find the solution to most sticky situations is just a good scrape. carry a small plastic scraper with you to take care of extra crud on your board.
  4. a friend of mine was hit in the face by a soccer ball and broke his nose while playing in gym class. The next period, his math teacher, thinking he looked stoned, reported him to the dean of students. He was pulled out of class, searched, and taken to the nurses office for an examination. Needless to say the nurse deemed him stoned (never smoked pot in his life), he was suspended for 10 days and ended up failing two classes as a result. All because his teacher was a little suspicious, and had a former student wo had been through rehab multiple times. This was not the only occurance of this at my school.
  5. This is a sick board!!! I ride the 170 Proton and love it. It is lighter than my other boards, which affords extremely quick edge to edge, and the flex is ideal throughout the gammut of conditions.
  6. i second the Dakine Poacher. I baught mine 3 years ago and, with the exception of some basic wear and tear from heavy use, it is holding up very well. You can also carry two boards if you so chose to, although one on the pack and one on the feet is all i have done before. This pack is totally expandable/compressable, so it fits your load no matter what size. The one disadvantage i have noticed is that the zippers will give out after a lot of use, but then again i am not very careful with them either. The new poacher packs are even sweeter than mine, but i gotta stick with old faithful for a few more years, or at least until i dont have any more books to carry in it at school. I expect this pack to last me a long time, as it is very well made. It also has a few secret pockets known to only the most inquisitive minds...
  7. that or start putting 3 inch spikes all around your back knee, that'll learn ya good
  8. i get this about twice a season, usually from girls that i would want nothing to do with... besides, isnt this one of the reasons we all took up alpine? or rather, one of the reasons that men do anything?
  9. i dot think thoes flex trax will be acceped as chains. i just got back from the tahoe area after being passed by every single 4x4 that came up behind us. i would recomend a 4x4 w/ snow tires, as your overall travel time will be greatly improved. if no 4x4, then you are faced with the decision of regular chains vs cable chains. the regular chains are easier to put on, and do not require zip-ties to secure the escess cable. Cable chains soude better when driving, but can have a tendencyto break nd require zip-ties to secure the ends to the rest of the chain so that they dont fly around and cut your brake lines. good luck, enjot the pow, and bring a tarp to lay on when you are installing the chains.
  10. im on the "what the hell is that board" boat here in the midwest. Generally when im leaving my board at the base, i find the nicest, newest, coolest looking unlocked board and place mine right next to it. My theory is that a thief will go for the sweet freestyle setup over the obscure alpine board that they would have to find boots for.
  11. you ever heard the difference between a drunk driver and a stoned driver... the drunk driver runs the stop sign and the stoned driver sits there and waits for it to turn green...
  12. if i remember correctly, Ross claimed that the THC is his system came from a contact high (didnt smoke, but was around smokers) while he was at a party, but the kicker was that the THC levels in his system coroborated his story.
  13. exactly that- calcium lactate and magnesium lactate. this stuff is the best for pre-gaming it, as they dont work as well if you wait until you legs hurt to take them.
  14. i have heard of people doing this for a long time, but never once have i heard of anyone getting busted for it.

i got a feeling that rainex might be fast, but youi only get one application because it will ruin your base after that
  16. that tool would be the bakoda mcguiver driver. i like the tape measure for measuring stance widths when tweaking a new setup
  17. gets about everything done that needs doing
  18. 8 inches- the most powed ive ever ridden in wisconsin on my race board 8 inches- the most powder ive ridden in wisconsin 12 inches- the most powder ive ridden on my race board both instances were on my burton Amp 160, a wide board with lots of float in the white stuff (not exactly a race board)
  19. i broke a hot blast (core and all) from edge to edge behing my back binding when i was post running a boardercross course and landed a jump with too much weight on the tail.
  20. my advice is go fo the custom vinyl. i have had a huge caddilac logo on the tip of my slalom board for three seasons and it is holding up prety well. Find a color that complements the board well, and a clear sheet to go on top for protection. the next choice i would recomend is paint markers.
  21. Thanks for the suggestions, and step into liquid is first on my list for historical support, but literature (fiction or non) is what i am having more trouble finding.
  22. While other students are writing their Jr. Theme papers on the war experience or on transcendentalism, I have undertaken the task of writing about something distinctly American- board sports. The challenge I face, however, is the lack of source material, namely literary works. The question I pose to everyone here is what books would you recommend. I have found a few, but am still looking for whatever I can get. I am focusing not solely on snowboarding, but rather all things that evolved from the first dude that thought it would be fun to ride a wave. Any suggestions?
