  1. Good question! These have 2 sets of holes under both front and back bail blocks for greater adjustability. I believe the first generation only had one pair of screw holes and they had a Small and Large size binding choice depending on the hole location. With 2 sets of holes S & L are handled by the same binding. When you say "too bad it is now “NW” version" I'm assuming your's are the "NW" version for Mountain Slope boots, correct?
  2. SG Performance Bindings Used very little, Great condition, includes everything: all cants (2 thick, 6 thin) , mounting hardware, disk covers, heel pads, box etc. Although they share some similarities in looks, SG's feel more responsive and durable than F2's, they have a number of mechanical differences like spherical nut retention for the toe/heel blocks, removal access of the blocks from below (you don't have to move the blocks to get at the screws), machined center disks etc. They fit UPZ and Deeluxe. One size: fits "Large & Small" boots. The bails are ST- "Standard bails fitting standard Snowboard Boots." These wont work on "specialty snowboard boots including "Northwave Point" and some modified ski boots" (per bottom of box). You'll need different bail set for Mountain Slope 951. 3. Yosemite, Sequoia and the National forests here (Including INYO NF which is the entire Eastern Sierra) are still closed. Early in fires I thought I'd wait until the smoke got better to get out...bad idea. I've been waiting for weeks to get out climbing. A Sierra backpack was a great way to get away from social distancing and stuff. Now that's not an option.
  4. From my observations I feel like this is the attitude in Southern California also. With a reservation system etc, I'm resigned to less days on the hill this year. At this point I'm paying by the ticket, not the pass.
  5. So So which is it?! https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/10/dr-anthony-fauci-says-whos-remark-on-asymptomatic-coronavirus-spread-was-not-correct.html
  6. Mask, no mask, choloroquin, revdesivir, in a market, in a lab, asymptomatic, symptomatic...sigh.
  7. PHASE 4.5 is in: Transfer unused 2019-20 passes to 20-21. It appears IKON has privately emailed people who didn't use their 19-20 pass AT ALL and informed them they can transfer that pass to 20-21. ...No concession given to those who used their pass 1, 2 3x.... but at this rate who knows.
  8. I'm thinking this also, although at A-Basin if you win the daily lottery it appears you can use your pass or buy a ticket on a equal footing. Time will tell.
  9. I believe that was done to reduce crowds there. But that may not be an issue this season. I think they should add it back in.
  10. Here is a copy of my post to IKON's FB page: IKON, Leadership, foresight and care for your customers should be your goal, but I believe your phased rollout of remediations is not communicating those qualities to your customers. Next time, please don't phase, just roll out the right thing from the beginning. People will better understand your remedies (I can't clearly articulate your latest remedy to a friend) and it won't build frustration with your product. BTW you still have one more phase to complete. Here is as summary of your phased rollout of remediations. PHASE 1: 4/15/20, add double discount on already raised pass prices. PHASE 2: 4/17/20, delay price increase date from 4/21 to 5/27 and allow deferral of 20-21 season pass to 21-22 if you declare by 12/10/20. PHASE 3: 5/20/20, delay price increase date from 5/27 to 6/17. PHASE 4: 6/4/20, change the deferral date from 12/10/20 date to 4/11/21, add partial refunds if Resorts close in 20-21. PHASE 5: ??? This should be proper remediations for the partial loss of the 19-20 season - (phase 1 was insufficient).
  11. New PHASE 4 of remediations: From Alterra, "More Time to Defer Your Unused 20/21 Pass* For any reason, if you don’t use your 20/21 Ikon Pass, you will have the option to defer the purchase price paid for your 20/21 Ikon Pass toward the purchase of a 21/22 Ikon Pass using the new Zero-Day Credit — no questions asked. Now, you can make this decision anytime between September‌ 10, 2020 and April‌ 11, 2021 (previously September‌ 10 - December‌ 10, 2020). Added Assurance Due to Possible COVID-19 Closures* In addition, should any eligible Ikon Pass destination close due to COVID-19 between December‌ 10, 2020 and April‌ 11, 2021, Ikon Pass holders will receive a proportional credit towards any 21/22 Ikon Pass." This is sounding better to make up for possible future closure during the second wave. I'm sure this will meet with tepid approval, and continued outcry by those burned in 2019-20. (The folks who got limited/no riding due to the closure) So... ALTERRA it's time for PHASE 5: remediations for those that lost out on the 2019-20 season.
  12. @John GilmourI like your plan and i would be excited about it. I agree with your assessment of what they are choosing instead.
  13. @John Gilmour Check A-basin and Crystal mountain's reopening strategy for the end of this season: Make a lottery reservation, prepay (or have a pass) and social distance. This is a likely model for next season. We may not be able to get as many days as we like. Large buddy groups may be out. There will be minor changes to these procedures (maybe to accommodate families at destinations?) but I think it's a window into the future. So far IKON has done this: new PHASE 3: Changed early bird deadline from May 27 to June 16. PHASE 4: ??? Rusty Gregory said there might be some adjustments to their Covid remediations after June 17. His father once told him the easy part is knowing what to do. The hard part is doing it. At this point they don't know what to do and are unwilling to do it! I'm not holding my breath on this. The more this unfolds I think I'd have a tough time wearing the IKON pass on my neck and feeling I sold out. Does anyone proudly use all those IKON stickers they send out...I don't and I don't see many.
  14. Arapaho Basin and Crystal Mountain are reopening for Pass Holder access for skiing. I believe this will be the model for the upcoming season: Make a lottery reservation, prepay (or have a pass) and social distance. Apparently the A-Basin server crashed due to excess demand. https://www.arapahoebasin.com/may27-reopening/ https://www.crystalmountainresort.com/things-to-do/spring-skiing
  15. My feeling is Alterra made a mistake with the rollout of their remediations. PHASE 1: "double" the renewal discount. This met with outcry on FB. PHASE 2: Delay re-up date by a month and allow deferral of 20-21 season pass to 21-22 if you let them know by December 10, 2020. This met with further outcry especially by the people [edit] DID NOT GET Phase 1 remediations for their little to unused 19-20 passes TBD PHASE 3: In my opinion this should be rolled out to exceed EPIC's single phase rollout: 20-80% discount based on 2019-20 usage and free full Covid/injury prorated insurance. This was met with OK customer response on FB and acclaim in ski magazine articles. I'm thinking Alterra went in phases to test the waters on each response. This strategy backfired and shows they were trying to do the least possible. It gives insight into their corporate priorities. A recession (at minimum) is on its way. It's not the way to build brand loyalty when they may need it most. I may let the $100 early bird discount deadline pass and wait until the season is closer.
  16. BC: Whistler Washington: Crystal, Stevens, White Pass, Snoqualmie, Hyak California: Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Tahoe Donner, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Homewood, Sierra at Tahoe, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose, Northstar, Dodge Ridge, Bear Valley, June Mountain, Mammoth, Big Bear, Snow Summit, Snow Valley, Mt. Baldy, Mt. High Utah: Snowbird, Solitude, Brian Head Of these, I had the best time at June Mtn, Kirkwood and Brian Head, but all are memorable in their own way.
  17. EPIC PASS announced a sliding scale renewal credit depending on 2019/20 usage AND free insurance that covers Covid closures, job loss and injury AND extra time to renew. In general they have met with favorable response from the FB crowd. "To address last season’s unexpected resort closure, 19/20 season pass holders will get at least a 20% credit, and up to 80% based on how much you were able to use your pass, to apply toward a pass for next season. Epic Day Pass and Edge Card holders with unused days are also eligible for credits, up to 80%. To provide you with peace of mind, we are introducing FREE Epic Coverage for 20/21 pass holders, which will provide refunds for certain resort closures, including events like COVID-19, as well as for eligible job loss, injury and more. To give you the time you need, we are eliminating our spring deadlines, giving you through Labor Day (Sept. 7) to use your credit and to lock in 10 Buddy Tickets. We will also continue offering the lowest up-front pass deposit of only $49 down."
  18. Mt Baldy, our very local hill is reopening (4/22/20) Here is their Operations Plan utilizing 10% of their capacity, staggered entry with spaced parking. Interesting: "COVID-19 SOCIAL DISTANCING OPERATIONS PLAN We are taking the COVID-19 crisis very seriously. Mt Baldy Resort is a unique all season mountain resort and is well designed to accommodate social distancing guidelines. In addition, we are implementing several policy changes that will help to ensure the safety and health of our guests and staff. Similar to how a golf course operates Mt Baldy will check-in a maximum of 4 individuals at 10 minute intervals. 1 Day Alpine Ticketed guests will have access to Lift #2 and #3 from that time until closing. In stark contrast to a golf course (150 acres), Mt Baldy Resort (800 acres) has more than 4x the area and will be operating at less than 10% of occupancy under this plan. Mask or face covering consistent with Order of the Health Officer of the County of San Bernardino County for the Control of COVID-19 must be worn at all times. TICKETING & GUEST SERVICES Only guests with reservations for 1 Day Alpine Lift Ticket and Mt Baldy Season Pass Holders will be granted access within the resort boundaries. Guest Services is NOT available at the resort. Do not come to the resort with promotional tickets, vouchers, expired purchases, applications, partner resort passes or any other inquiries. All these matters must be addressed online or by telephone. Please be patient with our very limited guest services team while we facilitate your requests. UPON ARRIVAL All visitors to Mt Baldy Resort will be at greeted at their vehicle upon arrival to parking lot. 1 Day Alpine Lift Ticket reservations will be checked in no earlier than their reservation time. Early visitors please queue up in your vehicles and sit tight until your reservation time. With proper identification Season Pass Holders, Scheduled Staff or Certified Government Agency Personnel will be permitted on to the property. All others will be turned away. PARKING To eliminate congregating all vehicles must be parked at a minimum of 3 vehicle width apart. Any vehicle not parked at least 20′ away from any other vehicle is subject to tow. Mt Baldy Resort staff will be on hand to identify vehicles not in compliance to direct tow trucks accordingly. RESTROOMS To avoid unnecessary contact we ask that you take care of your restroom breaks before you get to the mountain. Restrooms will be available for use at the base of Chair #1 and in the Top of the Notch Restaurant. Bathrooms are maintained and sanitized according to a vigorous schedule. RIDING THE LIFT All lifts at Mt Baldy Resort are fixed grip double seat carriers. We suggest that you ride by yourself unless you decide to ride with someone you are in quarantine with. Mt Baldy Resort is not the ‘Quarantine Police’ and does not intend to be. We ask that you treat this matter with the respect that it deserves and only ride with individuals you are quarantined with. Individuals will be loaded with skis or snowboard and one small carry along bag only. FOOD & BEVERAGE Pack a lunch. The Counterweight Cafe & Top of the Notch Restaurant will be closed until further notice. Sporadically refreshments may be available at the bottom of Lift #3 (Thunder Mountain) as we continue to improve operations under these scrutinous circumstances. SKIING & RIDING Experienced advanced and above skiers and snowboarders only. Rentals will not be available. Guests must bring their own gear. Ski & ride with caution and do not take unnecessary risks. Injuring yourself puts you and everyone involved in helping you at risk. At all times and especially when standing in line maintain a healthy distance of at least 10 feet. Our ability to operate under these circumstances rely heavily on cooperation from everyone. If you are not feeling 100% or have any intention of not treating this situation with the respect that it deserves, stay home. Mt Baldy Resort would not be going through the difficult process of opening during these difficult times if we did not love operating this special mountain and YOU our stakeholders. Unfortunately with the limited amount of access our modified operating plan permits, we have limitations to what we can accommodate: Partner resort passes, promotional tickets sold at pre-season snow shows or any other pre-purchased online tickets will be addressed on a case by case basis prior to arrival. Thanks for the support, The Crew @ Mt Baldy"
  19. I feel as if our independent local mountains (Mt High, Snow Valley) have a different level of customer care than the Alterra owned (Bear, Mammoth, and to a lot lesser extent June Mtn). I have personally received customer appreciation from Snow Valley and feel they care. When I sign on with Alterra I'm supporting a private-equity, multi-million dollar company. Too bad they have the goods when it comes to slopes. Alterra is getting a lot of backlash on Facebook and I am personally wondering if their price/timing concessions were planned phased. They tried the $50 discount, got a bad reaction and then had to move to phase 2 (option to defer to 21/22 before Dec 10, 2020). They are still getting a bad reaction to phase 2, but not as bad as with phase 1. Phase 3 should be some sort of concession for 19/20 pass holders like your friends. That might give them the appearance of more than a corporate grab.
  20. I like your thinking. I love the vibe at our local family owned hill (Snow Valley). They care for people and do right by them (me)! I go there and I feel well treated. I don't get the feeling it's all about the now-money, it's about investing in the community. I get the opposite feeling with Alterra (IKON). It's just their holdings in terms of terrain are so much better. I feel like a corporate sellout if I re-up there though...
  21. Season pass companies are knocking at my door now...what to do? This is a great listen. It will help me keep track of the upcoming trends, how to prepare for the next season...look where not taking a serious look forward got us!
  22. Prognostication: Like there are are in stores now, there will be daily limits on the number of people allowed on the mountain. The incident in this article Crystal Closes Doors to Walk up Lift Tickets last year may offer a model on how resorts will respond. Based on the current Covid condition the resort will place a cap on attendance. They will release spaces to be reserved/purchased online in advance. Pass holders might get automatic entry, or have to sign up also. Lodges will be closed with food served outside only. Restrooms will be single occupancy only. Lift lines will have 6' spacing, but this aided by the limited number of riders. No more singles line. Teaching will be difficult but will maintain distance (separate chairs for student/instructor). Our (very) local mountain (Mt. Baldy) was already severely limiting numbers and serving food through a service window right before their closure. They have tossed around opening again with these restrictions. How to fairly limit high demand days (Xmas/NYear, MLK, President's, etc) will be interesting. Sadly, this will not likely be a "let's skip work it's a powder day!" sport anymore.
  23. In 2018/19 I bought the BASE pass for $579 (at lowest rate) In 2019/2020 it was $619 (lowest rate) The proposed renewal for 20/21 BASE pass is $599 with the $50 discount for last seasons closure. New for 20/21 BASE pass does not include Aspen and Jackson Hole as it did last year (now a $150 upgrade). While the 20/21 pass might work out financially I don't like what appears to a be a magnanimous gesture by IKON of doubling the renewal discount that works out to be a $20 credit (minus Aspen/Jackson Hole) for an abbreviated season. Of course it's not their fault covid came, but I feel they are trying to look good while offering little. With impending US economic woes this may not be in IKON's best interest. 20/21 snow will be in the hills in some form. 20/21 covid closures are a gamble.
  24. Like you, It did work out for me this last year, but do you have concerns about a cancelled or abbreviated 20/21 season?
  25. From what I see on IKON's Facebook page customer reaction to their discount and renewal deferral date has not been favorable.
