  1. Kingcrimson if you want to continue this don't think of springs as providing up and down movement . Think of them transfering up and down motion to back and forth motion as the shackle does at the end of the spring. The sliding mechanism in the hardware allows the board to contort without rider interference good or bad, depending on the circumstance. This is going to be a big issue in riders preference when it comes to decide how much isolation you really desire from you plate set up, introduce a soft flex or stiff flex in the plate and you can see the differences multiply. The pivot point of the plate is only there to prevent failure through fatigue of the fasteners, the sliding mechanism must have an element of pivot as well. Once you ride one these features, isolation and decoupling are very noticeable. But different.
  2. How about rubber gives isolation (cushioning) Shackles on a spring provide decoupling. The decoupling on the front of a plate gives the feeling of isolation but does not entirely cushion chatter . It lets the board deal with it without your interference
  3. Can we assume that a small number of people are interested in plates now? Would anyone commit now to the purchase of a plate system if one were available at a reasonable cost? What would you consider a reasonable cost? $400, $500 , $750, $1000. Would you like the plate and hardware as one unit or plate and hardware as two components .I know everyone has their favorite colour does the hardware need to be available in a variety of colours ,the plate custom top sheet to match your favorite board? If you want to post your wants or needs the tinkerers are busy working on next years possibilities. I will not profess that one plate will satisfy all your needs as in boards the variations will be many. Commit to try one soon and the endless task of deciding what works best for you will haunt you like those TD3 sidewinders do me.
  4. Tuck that back knee in behind the front? Hard to concentate when the conditions are like that i would imagine.
  5. Is your plate solid carbon or carbon wood laminate? stiff or flexable? The hardware i made is 22mm high with the plate another 15mm on top of that.Tough to reduce height without integrating plate and hardware. Not sure if general public would be willing to pay the premium necessary to produce a more compact version. Have you found that riding with a plate on your board it acts like a board with a smaller side cut radius?
  6. You guys are amazing if only the rest of the world could be so civil. What we need now is a paypal system of offering drinks to make up ?? Maybe some Irish tech wizz could dream up a system. :)
  7. If you want to see this thread count increase you are going to have to give us the weight of you plate and hardware, lbs. or kilos ok! :)
  8. Your son is 8 the lizard lives 10. Lizard dies about the time your son heads off to college, perfect. If it doesn't work out for you i could send the cat my daughter left when she went off to school in Alberta or the rabbit! Check your local animal rescue they may have one you can give a home to.
  9. Have you ridden it yet?? Welcome to the fastest growing thread on bomber your post is important to home tinkerers around the world.I see you aren't willing to share details can you tell us the weight of the hardware and plate??? Welcome to PLATE WORLD!
  10. Use dishwasher for cleaning and oven for baking painted engine parts.Freezer for shrinking cranks to press on bearings. Haven't figured out what to use the microwave and toaster oven for.
  11. How did his protege Carter Kolerek in the under 14 age group do?? Riding a Coiler as well but without the plate. Did Bruce rip all the gates out on his way down? Always a pain for gate keepers when he starts to play!
  12. Wasn't Expecting 80 degrees packed rain gear not swim wear! Some real nice runs you guys are lucky to carve here. Was detained by lifties because i was riding a plate on my board i guess they don't see many. Ski patrol checked it out and i was allowed to continue. Found it a bit of a challenge getting from La Nipivik back to north chair.La Crete was challenging with 186 board and slushy snow on south side. Return trip for sure! How does Le Massif compare to St Anne for carving ? We were in the stretch Maroon van parked by the rv's.
  13. Where can i find info on race results at Copper Mt. ?
  14. Present plate and hardware 3.5 lbs. on my fish scale !
  15. From my earlier reply i thought you were heading out next week.Still snow but???? Sutton never a bad place to go always lots of snow reminds me of Tremblant before intrawest.Friendly Vibe! Jay Peak also good.New hotel for next year might be able to book a deal early.Macaroni and cheese at Jay always the meal of choice!
  16. Snow is dead! rocks are sprouting. Not good for carving. Lift tickets were $60. Le massif has better conditions .Traffic very heavy.Gas $1.06 Just a strip of snow to access chair and gondola. North side better snow but very soft.:barf:Le massif has more snow.
  17. What is a Vist or Hangl worth when these hit the streets??? Better check with the lifties before you board the lift.It might be an illegal import.:lol:
  18. The real visual difference is that unlike Vist, Hangl or Kildie-flex the plate sits slightly off the board and as such draws your attention. The hardware is attached to the board with 8 screws same as bindings. the plate attaches to hardware again with 8 screws.;)
  19. By Sunday the white paint was wearing off the rocks. Jay looks like they had a lot more snow than north shore quebec!
  20. It's official plates are here for recreational users. Was detained by lifties for a period of time saturday april 2nd while ski patrol was called to decide if it was safe for me to use a plate and hardware set up mfg. by myself. Fed them a little BS and said there will be more to come so get on the bandwagon now. Person in charge seemed cool with the idea after i demoed the working of it for her.I guess not everyone has their head up their A$$ when it comes to hard booting. Now lets work on fair lift ticket pricing and truith in advertising and we have a good start. Happy slush riding plate is retired till the fall.:lol:
  21. Thanks for advice snow mobile. Belange closed for racing friday but early north side not bad considering +++ temps. 6hrs on carver next two days on skis nice tan (burn) for the effort. sunday was good with no crowd like sat. 7 hr drive ??? Next time Le Massife more snow!
  22. He can hook you up with a real board!!
  23. Trip to mt st anne Quebec 80 on saturday .Front of board on snow tail kicking up sparks. Water was running down the hill faster than skiers. Saw total 3 Hardbooters. Those Bas***** at Resorts of the CANADIAN rockies sure can lie there asses off about conditions 1500 km later i think i would do it again. You guys in the south west are SPOILED ! in a good way.
  24. Don't you guys have anything longer than a 150cm board??
