  1. Tankers can be taken almost everywhere with soft snow and groomers. Very fun board!
  2. Nice board. 2000 is the year. And its 2000 mm. or 200 cm. not 209.
  3. Kae - I ride with Palmer pro-links too. Also with clickers. Looks like you got it set up fine. Nice work. I love the system. Clickers sit kind of low and this way it raises us up and helps with better edge hold in the carve. I hope you like them as much as I do.
  4. Hi Karl - I own two of those. And they do ride well on the hard pack, but I've never rode it on ice. We don't get a lot of icy conditions often here in Oregon. But I'm sure others will disagree. Anyhow, I've had great luck with mine. Awesome edge hold. I find these Rossi s have a medium stiffness. It does take some effort and punch to get them to come around at first. But its very easy to get used to. And I've found its a smooth ride with less chatter than other boards. Like others have mentioned, they are damp. I prefer a wider stance than the inserts offer on these particular models. 21" just isn't enough anymore. I need one more inch. The two I own may go up for sale soon by the way. For cheap too. I need to rotate some stock.
  5. I will be heading up again afterwork on 1/18 and 1/19. I'd love to get together and make some turns with you. Or maybe you, way over there. I promise to be courteous and polite. Unlike these two dudes. It should be a great time with nice snow on Wed. And wonderful carving and some left over powder on Thurs. If anyone is interested heres my cell # 503-492-2920 And I will probably have my 2-way radio on 13/20. Hope to see you- Ed http://www.skibowl.com/winter/report_Skibowl.cfm
  6. I've had great luck with my Dakine Heli-Pro. It is also has a hydration pack pocket on the inside, etc. Although its not very roomy at times. Lots of straps though on the outside.
  7. Hopefully you'll have better luck with the weather next time. And drop us a line anytime, and we'll try to hook up and show you some great terrain. Not the really secret stuff, of course, but good. Its been a roller coaster of conditions since you left. I've been lucky hitting some great mornings at Ski Bowl. Even today it was epic light powder then around 11:30 the freezing level jacked up to mixed rain and snow. It was good while it lasted. I've been avoiding the Meadows crowds in the last week for sure. The rat race to the goods gets old fast. Seriously, anyone, let us know when you're in the area. Ed
  8. That skier does deserve the "Good Karma Award". For some reason no one seems to want to ride up with me. More snow please. deeper deeper...
  9. I'm very envious, Jim! And believe me you haven't missed anything here at Mt. Hood. Please tell me all about it when I see you next. Ed
  10. It was always mandatory on the yellow short bus so I've always wore one since. Whatever my special ed. teacher says, I do it.
  11. Chubz - I've stayed off the sause since 5/1/99. Heres my advice. Smoke what mother nature has intended. Bring some sodas to the parties. Go to a few meetings and meet some like minded people. And hear some great stories. Hangovers and getting the first chair are rare.
  12. The truth is that in 6-8 inches of rained-on powder nothing beats the fun of a Tanker. Thats the "Straight" truth. I saw it happen today to this guy in a blue parka.
  13. Hi Thomas! I'm glad you got to finally ride your Tanker! Your review is very accurate. Much better snow this year, huh? I've rode my older one twice this year so far. And it always stands up as my favorite board to ride when the snow is soft and deeper. I hope you don't sell it too soon because the more it gets ridden the more you'll love it. And actually, its not that much longer than a 175. But that little bit of size sure helps when you need it. I rode Mt. Hood Ski Bowl today. They received 21'' in 24 hrs. It was the gun to have. Thanks again for the review. Hope to ride with you again soon. Ed
  14. Thanks for setting up another get together Mr. T! I'll be there. This year I purchased a 5-day pass and an Express Pass. Hope to see you before then too. Great conditions lately, huh? Ed
  15. My wife loves to snowboard. But the thing that bothers me is how she gets upset if I skip work to ride. Even on a big powder day, she hassles me for calling in sick. That could make or break a relationship to some of us.
  16. Mt. Hood Meadows had free lift tickets for Veterans today. That was sure nice of them! Sorry vets, I had to work today.
  17. Yes, the 9 am opening time is bogus! Its going to mean a longer line at the lift while we wait for them to open. I guess, I'll get there kind of early and beat the crowd. I liked the proposed idea of opening 2 or 3 lifts at 8:30 to dispurse the crowd and reduce the bottle neck trying to race to Shooting Star. Hopefully, they will go back to their old schedule later. See you up there!
  18. I went up to Timberline today and tested out my approach skis. I ventured into inbound terrain that isn't open just yet. I use clickers with '04 K2 transformer boots. The skis worked great in all but the steepest of uphills. But they worked well side traversing, side stepping, and even the herring bone uphill step. I'm fairly familiar with nordic skiing so I just took off skiing away from the start. Its a much better system all around than snow shoes since you can glide instead of step. The switch over and straping them on to my Heli Pro pack was fast too. My telescoping poles included. I can't say enough good things about them. Ed
  19. I am optimistic that it will get better. I've been planning ahead so all I need is a little gas $ to get to the mt. I hope my plan works. Its sure raining outside now. Its just got to be better! "snow damit!" a famous quote by mike t.
  20. The weather expert's last words are "anything can happen this winter." Its just got to be better than last year here in the Pacific NW. I'm planning on the best despite what the pesimists say. Like Mike says, "snow damit!"
  21. Im going to have a problem with time management this season. While trying to hold down a 4 day a week job, with overtime occassionally, I've bought a few season passes. I've already bought an Unlimited Season Pass to Mt. Hood Meadows. And a weekday plus pass at Timberline. And I'm working on getting a group rate for a season pass at Mt. Hood Ski Bowl. And I plan on buying an Express pass at Mt. Bachelor and a 5 day pass to save a few $$. I hope to use each pass during certain times of the week, night riding and Springtime. And I hope to do some travelling outside Oregon too. My job will suffer this season and the ass-kissing is already in full swing to the bosses. Then there is my wife. She loves to snowboard too. But now her attention in on updating our furniture and light fixtures. I'm trying to do all I can around the house until the season starts and save my money. Help!!!! Ed
  22. If you want to ride a little larger wheel try the Carveboard and/or the BMW street carver. I own a Carveboard (thanks again, Joel) and have riden the street carver on a few sessions. Both carve much like a snowboard. I also have a Powell pele 48''. rides nice but I prefer the Carveboard.
  23. Rick - I love that show too. Too bad there is no snow on the island to keep the castaways even more preoccupied. So many unanswered questions. okay, now back to dreaming of snowboarding.....
