  1. Yea, I go every year religiously. Its great to go with friends and pray for awesome conditions. Good swag, stickers, posters. Here in Portland we have a big turn-out. Theres always riders from the movie signing posters, etc. This years coupons were for a Free ticket to Apex, Big White, Silver Star & Sun Peaks. And a Free ticket to Mt. Hood Meadows. And a Free lift ticket to Schweitzer. And a coupon to a swanky shop that sucks in downtown. The pricey admission is kind of worth it. I drink massive amounts of caffeine and never get bored. Rage Films are the up and coming coolest movies. The last two years have been the deepest, steepest and very crazy. I recommend that you definitely see those ones. Better soundtrack too. Junkshow Diaries and Stimulus
  2. It just dawned on me that you guys are speaking of step-ins with hard boots. Sorry I should remember this is Bomber. Please don't kill me.
  3. I use the clicker system on my freeride boards and I too have had problems. Many people have nick-named the clicker the "clogger". And the way they are designed you can punch out the snow using the t-shaped latch. Overall, its worked great and many times I can click-in on the fly before the skiiers can get their pole straps on. lol I do love the Pam/silicone idea and topic of the tread. thanks
  4. I'm going to beat someone to this - Last year, I met Mario Paulo Debbeni the Italian racer - whom I think was at the top of the podium many times throughout the 80's and early 90's. He and Billy Miller (writer for many publications including TWS and Snowboard Journal) were at the Headquarters of Oldsnowboards.com. It was great to visit with them about all kinds of stuff. Did you know Paulo used to ride for Funky and then went on to Sims and Hot! Paulo used to work for MLY here in Portland until a few years ago. He was a house husband at that time. I think his wife must have been bringing home the bacon. And I've met Trevor Graves and Bud Faccett at the photo shoot for Vintage Snowboard Confidential article that came out in SJ last Spring. Trevor and Bud work at Nemo Designs here in Portland. That was really a highlight for me to get to meet these guys.
  5. I heard some Utah resorts just got lots of snow. We all better get there quick!
  6. yea, Jack! I remember that guy from Burton. He is quite the pioneer. Lets see someone try to beat that! good one - I just love these stories. Thanks
  7. I definitely agree with all SVR says. I also prefer riding mine in stiffer soft boot set-up. And I would like to add that I will be riding my newer version a lot this year. I like to tell anyone that asks, is that my board is only a tiny 170 and then just before I slide toward the lift I tell them the truth and watch their jaws drop. And the beauty is that is one of the best freeriding boards on the mountain.
  8. Hi Jim - I was thinking of buying a 7 foot surfboard bag for mine. the tails stick out of my current bag. ha ha Rad-Air does make a Tanker bag - called a board condom Of course, Bryan has one.... and its very hard to get. Hope to see you soon on the slopes - Ed
  9. Zach - I don't think the Flex-Pass can be used during the Holiday week and then in April you can bring friends and use the pass. Here check for yourself - Sorry to be a know-it-all:rolleyes: http://www.timberlinelodge.com/store/products.cfm?subcategory=0 Hope to see you at the Carvefest in May or before - Ed
  10. Yea, this is just what I wanted know. Keep them coming in. I'll bet there are some rumors we can put an end to also. Like, did Don Szabo (007 szabo) really win the Publishers Clearinghouse 10 million? And I know Scott Downey (1st signiture snowboard boot pioneer) lives in Eugene, OR and is a carpenter. I love to study snowboard history and wonder did these guys and gals drop off or are still active and still ride lots. Thank you Phil, AK, Dragonfly, Ernie and you too D-sub for the input. Keep it rolling in - I just love this stuff. Ed
  11. My boards for soft snow all have the Palmer Pro-Link plates under the binding for better edge control. And I use the 04' K2 transformer boots and SST clicker bindings Morrow 176 matt goodwill Rad-Air Tankers 200, 192 How about those apples? Rick F?:D
  12. Where are the bros that we used to follow in the past? Please send a quick note - I'm often pondering this Anyone out there know whatever happened too... Brushie, Dan Donnelly, Perata, Farmer, Burt, Sanders, Graham, Jean Nerva, Jay Liska, Alex Warburton, Andy Coglan, Masa Ogawa, Kris Jamieson, Rob Morrow, Rocket Reeves... and how' bout the gals too.. Jean Higgins, LaFonte, Tara Eberhard, Betsy Shaw... And I salute all of you that didn't sell out in the day and rode steady through all the peer pressure. I recommend that you all see the Whiskey series and the Creatures of Habit series.
  13. I agree with lonerider - You just gotta protect that booty It is tough to get our chicks into anything we find cool sometimes. My wife has barely rode her alpine board I bought her in 95' But she is excited about trying her 4807 soon. She has the nerve to call us a bunch of geeks. lol sorry I got off topic - I can't help you D.
  14. That Diablo in the picture is a 91-92. I was fresh out of college and bought one just like it on my credit card. $675 Northshore in Beaverton. In its day it was the best for me. And as you may notice from above I still have a 178.
  15. Fruitbooting is a Crime I've always leaned toward innertubing but got into cross-country with the family. I still love it. Skied, blah, blah, blah started boarding in '84 stopped skiing in '87 rode with ski boots in '89 switched to softies back and forth rode with AT boots until '99 then switched to stiff clicker boots now I ride both whenever and I started skiing again occassionaly And I do own a silver saucer (anyone seen Saucerman?)
  16. D-Sub - Bro, look us up when you do. I'll be getting the Express Pass this year, that mtn. is so fun! Ed
  17. Hi Eric and Jim - All good things come to an end. This terrain used to be a great place to get away from everyone. Its going to be great on a powder day to access those little canyons and gullies that used to be tougher to get to. You guys know this area too, I'm sure. I'm really happy to see that the new starting time with most chairs opening later at 8:30. That bottleneck getting to Shooting Star at 9 used to be crazy. looking forward to riding with you guys in a couple months Ed
  18. hi guys - back up a little further in the conversation someone asked what board Farmer used to ride in the Critical Condition video. It was a 200cm Summit. I've looked for one for years. Has anyone seen a one of these before. Maybe they're made in Summit County? rare
  19. No, mine is royal blue with a grey stripe running down the side. And black on the tail. And the sidecut is the same as the black/green model. that one is one year newer - i think. I need to hear back from Bryan@oldsnowboards.com he and i have an agreement I'd run it by him before I unloaded any gear. I'd take $200 shipped by the way Ed (aka slopetool)
  20. I dug out my 96-97' TWS buyers guide and it says Option Carving 165 / eff. edge 145 sidecut radius 950 cm 26.8 - 20.8 - 26.5 nose height 5.1 tail height 1.1cm so yea, there is a little kick It is a great all-mountain board and would do well in the off-piste. Once the powder got over 6" it was time to switch to the Never 170. It was swapped in a barter for a bag of dried fruit. i still can't believe I had the buyers guide and it took no time to find it. twighlight zone weirdness!
  21. I am considering selling these boards this Fall sorry I don't have pictures yet but if anyones interested I will make it happen. 90' Hooger Booger 175 asym tail- reg. stance with Elfgen plates 92' Sims alpine 162.5 asym tail - reg. stance 89' Burton M5 asym tail - reg. stance with burton plates 94' Nitro Diablo 178 with Fritchi plates - reg. stance 96' Option freecarve 165 I need wall space and get rid of the clutter Although my buddy, Bryan at www.oldsnowboards.com always has first dibs.
  22. My hard boots are a pair of 91' or 92' Raichle AT boots. I had just wore out a pair and bought another pair at a Ski Swap nearly new for only $20. Raichle Concordia model They have been a great boot and I've rode everything with them in the day. K2 gyrator, Nitro Diablo, Option freecarve, MLY race, Sims Burner 197, and I still ski with them too. What a fantasic boot. And you can walk around easily wearing them without looking like a freaky robot.
  23. Skeez! we missed you- thanks for piping in again! You rule the slopes!
  24. I always have to shake my head at these guys on motorcycles that take riding so lightly and don't wear full leathers and those pudding bowl helmets. If a rider goes down or gets hit when wearing street shoes, jeans and t-shirts, there will be major road rash. What are these guys thinking? Riding is serious business. Sorry to get off topic. C5- hope to ride with this season ( i met you at T-line in May) also I enjoyed the story. Portland Motorcycle just opened their new boutique store just down the street from my work. BMW's rule
  25. Dude, you got to get in the OT now and save up for the pre-season deal on the pass. Then start slacking off and taking sick days starting in late Nov. - Dec. Fake the mumps , mono, and general disability until May.
