  1. I was there over the Easter weekend. I think you should consider that most hils are already closed and Ste-Anne is planning to stay opened up to April 25th. Yes Gas was $1,06 ! In winter time, Mont Ste-Anne north side + Gros Vallon, Crete, Beaupre on south side is ideal terrain for Carving
  2. You need to consider Mont Ste-Anne in Quebec city. Their north side has great carving potential and they should be opened up to April 25th. From their website: " Mont-Sainte-Anne has unveiled one of its best concoction’s yet: the Volkswagen Spring Madness program 2010, now a classic. Stretching out until April 25th, spring skiing at Mont-Sainte-Anne has already been rewarded as best in the East by Ski Canada magazine. The festive week-ends to come will feature shows by Poptron, Bestov, Gabrielle Shonk and The Porters (Johnny Cash homage), friendly competitions with acrobatic skiing Olympians Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau and Vincent Marquis as well as a Country Week-end and even a wine tasting at the summit! " :)
  3. I heard Pat Farrell didn't show up...
  4. For all event, forerunning was based on the same criteria as the Olympics selection. So for men PGS for example, you had the next six Canadian racers who were not selected for the games as forerunners ( Pat Farrell, Steve Barlow, Matthew Carter, Darren Gardner, Sebastien Beaulieu & Richard Evanoff ) :)
  5. He lives in Sherbrooke. Saw him few times on powder days at Mont Ste-Anne. That guy won the NorAm in 2007 on a Prior when everybody else were on Kessler !
  6. As of 10h30 FIS website was corrected: 1. Lambert 2. Klug 3. Anderson 4. Jewell Thanks for the tip Phill. I stay at my screen yesterday...
  7. It looks like there were also "reporting" issues at Mt. Batchelor. As of 6h30 am Friday morning, live-timing & FIS site are giving: 1. Jasey-Jay 2. Chris Klug 3. Tyler Jewell 4. Michael Lambert..... Today's race has been changed to a 2-run GS, much simpler as far as timing...Hope they will go "live" on www.live-timing.com
  11. With the absence of most WC racers, how not to mention the young Canadian riders Matthew Carter, 20 yrs old with the gold medal Darren Gardner & Sebastien Beaulieu 5th ex-eaquo, Richard Evanoff, 7th: all three riders are Juniors Jean-Marcel Dumont 8th & Steve Barlow 10th are completing the group of 6 Canadians on the Top 10 ! http://www.live-timing.com/report.php?r=14244&rp=168058
  12. Each country has a quota per sport. In snowboarding, SBX/HP/Alpine is one sport, so the country has to decide in which discipline / gender they split their effort. Those quota are determined by their FIS World Cup results. You have max per gender & max of 4 per event USA & Canada, each have 18 spots, max 10 per gender.
  13. Northwave stopped making Hardboot in 2001 and scrapped their mould, according to the legend. Eveything is at least 8 years old. It seems like racers are finding more and more of these Northwave .950 in old closets. People who had them are now prone to let them go for nice $$.
  14. The rider on pic 2 ( Siegfried Grabner a.k.a. Sigi ) is wearing Atomic RT ski boots instead of his typical Northwave ...
  15. You call that "EXPERIENCE"... Look at the age of the Top 7: 1 ANDERSON, Jasey CAN = 34 2 MORISON, Matthew CAN 3 GALMARINI, Nevin SUI 4 REITER, Justin USA = 28 5 SCHOCH, Simon SUI = 31 6 BIVESON, Daniel SWE = 32 7 KLUG, Chris USA = 36 Copper was no easy race, racing experience becomes a factor ( not the only one ) and Jasey is one the best at that play...
  16. Men Qualif are on line http://www.live-timing.com/race2.php?r=14004&u=10&maxr=10
  17. Are they on time this morning ? Qualifications must be completed by now ?
  18. Second hand info for the high % of DQ... The % was not that high. ( 7 girls + 7 men )
  19. Others news from someone on the hill: One of the most bizarre course setting for the second run. ( the setting was different from the first one ). A lot of disqualified ( DQ ), it seems like Chris Klug was DQ's. Could go up to xx % of the field were DQ's A long evening before to have all the final results...
  20. I just got news from the hill 3 minutes ago, they had timing problems. Race will be 2 runs of GS, no PGS for today. As of 10h30, "Copper Time", the first girl was going down ( = 2,5 hours delay )
  21. I accept the challenge and will post pics from "Le Relais" Noram in January 16th & 17th. Maybe also some from the PGS World Cup at Stoneham ( 15 minutes drive from "Le Relais" ) the following week ( January 24th )... What a week it will be in January with a NorAm weekend and a full World Cup events ( HP, SBX, Big Air & PGS ) in Quebec city in 8 days
  22. J'ai vu des Burton "Reactor" au Bazar de la station "Montjoye" dans le coin de Sherbrooke le weekend dernier. Pas mal sûr que c'était des 27, le bazar se termine en fin de semaine...
  23. F2 would probably be a package. If you choose their bindings, their will highly recommend their board, which are OK. You would have choice of those S-Flex plates as well. But if you want to go NA, Prior / Donek for board and Bomber for bindings.
  24. Le site http://www.alpinecarving.com/ est toujours intéressant pour avoir des conseils, quoiqu'il semble ne pas avoir été retouché depuis 1-2 ans.:)
