  1. nice video:biggthump what camera are you using?
  2. Take your dramamine now. i had a hard time watching it myself. interesting view. <object height="344" width="425"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjJVfrecS_E&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></object>
  3. Another sweet video! especially shot from the chairlift:biggthump I borrowed a gopro standard def camera on sunday and went to the village. great carving conditions but the quality of the video is so bad i don't think i can even post it. good work. cheers!
  4. you pretty much have all the bases covered now. my friend bought a Surly Uni with the 26" tire with the two speed hub. pretty incredible ride. if it wasn't for the price, ($2600.00) i would sell my unis and buy one. We studded our tires with 3/8 sheet metal screws. worked pretty well on hardpack and ice, but on steep groomers of Snow King they were no help at all. they also increase rolling resistance to a point where the uni is only ride-able downhill. i had a sheet metal screw in every lug, around three hundred. this photo is my tire i finished last night. one inch sheet metal screws, put in from the inside out. as soon as it stops snowing and we have some solid groomers will try it out.
  5. being that i only live a mile from the SKES, i will try to save up some cash and see if i can make it. TwoRavens, maybe we could carpool? And to think the whole time this was going on, i was at the teton village fighting the crowds:mad: great thread:biggthump
  6. I spent $1400. on a pass to teton village and that is the discounted price thru my job. I had to work a lot of overtime. Currently Teton Village has the lowest snowfall recorded since 1975. To date, due to low snowfall, injured shoulders (touching the snow) and knee issues (thanks to uni-cycling) i have a whopping three hours on the snow. :(
  7. i have been carving for almost twenty years with no injury. last year i injured both shoulders while laying out a turn. several thousand dollars of doctor and phy. therapy and i still have shoulder issues. you have to decide if it's worth the risk.
  8. i think the lowest i have ever been on film. http://jackson.elevationimaging.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?&category=1030441&start=126 image #5332
  9. I know it's not a board but I'm trying to branch out a bit. maybe ten days skiing my whole life. this is my second day on carving skis! http://jackson.elevationimaging.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?&category=1165933&start=36 image #0039
  10. i really wasn't considering metal, my only experience with metal boards are the three prior metal wcr. i had. they had no pop at all.i liked them for everything else though. i would love this board! i believe the axis has a slightly upturned tail. i doubt i will coming to ses. i am really low on funds this year. i am going to call Sean at Donek. I even went to factory a few months ago but i forgot half of what i learned and i know i wasn't asking all the right questions. With all this good advice i think i will be better prepared to order the right board. thanks!
  11. hey dredman, Snow King only has one run open now, lane seven, but it is sweet. they are grooming right now cougar. the snow is mostly man made but it is the sweetest man made snow you have ever seen. I am going tomorrow if it is clear out. Kelly said she is going tomorrow as well. problem is, they are setting up race courses everyday, so not much room for anyone. I have not been to the village, word is it's not so good. We just need so much snow.
  12. i carve by the seat of my pants. I just carve by feel. So I'm not very good with the technical side. What i think i want is a Donek Axis 162 cm. to replace my failing F2 beamer. I want to change the scr from 8.9 to 8.5 scr. I want to turn fast and tight, i want to make as many turns from point A to B. I want a soft flex like the F2. I want to go from the harder flex of the Axis to a softer flex of the Donek Pheonix. I don't want to have to work to hard, I'm gettin old. I also want but don't know how to achieve, a board that when un-wieghted pops you into the air. What's your opinion on this? why this will work or won't? Or any suggestions i haven't thought of? I am currently about 145lbs and 5' 10" and almost always on softer hardpack, I live in Jackson, Wyoming, so a lot of snow and not much ice. Thanks.
  13. i wish i could have come over and made some turns with you! teton village only has av open. Snow king has these incredible new snow makers. they will have cougar and lane seven open for their opening day. which i believe is the fifth. they have man made snow at least four feet deep. just hope they have money in thier budget to groom.
  14. glad you liked the video. here is the original thread on this... http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=24471 here is the new version i did using better software... <object width="560" height="340"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jGnyD-OihY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></object>
  15. I was up on Snow King yesterday riding my uni-cycle on the new man-made snow. Snow King has new snow makers and they are incredible. We will just have to wait and see if they have enough money in their small budget to groom this year! Can"t wait to see two-ravens on her new Coiler. Cheers.:)
  16. We are using regular knobby BMX tires that have been "siped". It provides pretty good traction on low angle descents. We are going to stud our tires with 3/8 sheet metal screws as soon as they start grooming and we can start riding higher angle runs. we have looked but cannot find any commercially produced studded 24 inch tires.
  17. you can uni in the snow! yesterday @ Snow King ski resort.:)
  18. see that upper row of inserts, look to the left and you will see a white spot. it is a phillips head impression left by my screw gun. i will send you a photo. the board is perfect in every other way especially when your riding it!
  19. base picture for the nidecker.
  20. for sale one very nice, 2 yr. old, Swoard 168cm ,medium flex. near perfect in every way. edges are sharp and ready to ride right out of the box. one minor blemish on top where i dropped a screw gun and it left a mark. i am selling because i am getting the smaller version 161cm. $500.00 free shipping in USA. also a Nidecker asym regular 155 cm., very good condition . 19 cm waist., scr ? my guess 8.5 ish. $65.00 plus shipping. paypal ok.
  21. Do they make this board in a sub 165cm? how do they rate an flex, soft, hard? cheers.
  22. My first carving board was an F2 Beamer. i loved it. then they came out with a carbon fiber Beamer which i still have. after i snapped my go to board (prior metal) i dug out the old F2 and rode it mostly the rest of the season. i have never had an issue with riding it flat or straight. it is not tricky, difficult or hard. it is a little tricky riding it switch though, tail tends to dig in (shameless plug) want to see an asym in action? http://www.vimeo.com/4474212
  23. metal top sheet? that is what i prefer. what year?
