    Aspen turns! ???

Hoping to ride Ajax on Thurs, be at Buttermilk rest of weekend...
  5. ... a bunch of old men at the coffee shop, discussing our ills (so I'll contribute). Chronic low-back ache, and back has been "going out" occasionally for about 10 years now. I get the "S" shape for a week, can't straighten up. Not much shows on the MRI- just some L4/L5 aging. MD used to tell me to "take 200 mg of ibuprofen 3 times a day" and rest. After a week of laying around each time, decided there had to be something better. Went to PT and they put me to work instantly- heat, stretching and exercise- and it works (if I would just put in the work between episodes). Sidebar- Sitting at the office is the worst thing I can do, and I actually feel better after a weekend of riding. But I stretch religiously now before riding. And the hot tub is perhaps the best "investment" I ever made.
  6. ...thinking of coming up (from OK) for the USASA stuff at Pajarito in Feb, and wonder if you'd like to join me for some turns that week?
  7. I know it's been discussed and "cured" here a thousand times, but... I had a severe problem with hs chatter that I fixed simply by applying most of my pressure on my forward heel. Toeside worked fine so I didn't want to move bindings forward. I think this problem is so common because on sym boards our toes are 3-4 inches ahead of our heels. However, just hooked up on a Prior 4x4 and using the middle inserts, was able to set edge without chatter using both legs equally (and we don't need another asym/ sym discussion to morph from this). Try moving your setup forward an inch, or get more weight on the front heel.
  8. Wasn't able to prep due to bad back, and have a big trip in Jan., so just spent the first trip trying to get back in shape and tweaking my setup to where it felt comfortable and performed. Have a tip for those with front thigh burn-- rest your front hand just above your knee, esp on long coasts to take pressure off thigh. Works to keep my hands in front too.
  9. Arriving Sat. nite (12/12) and riding the near-SLC resorts for 3 days. Shout if you can join/ guide me. I'm up for Brighton/Solitude/Snowbird, been to PC and Canyons before, looking for new terrain.
  10. email me, please, about your board
  11. Hey Jp- Using up some leave myself- flying in to SLC on Dec. 12 and returning late Dec. 15. Staying at hotel in SLC and hitting whatever mountain(s) are best covered. Renting a car.
  12. JP- Budget traveler here too with the same early-season itch i've scratched now for a couple of years by flying into denver, renting a car and driving 1.5 hrs to summit county. It's the only guaranteed snow unless you go really west to Mammoth or the NW. Abasin and Loveland already open- check in with Mario and the gang on the Co page of the ride board of BOL. Those guys already railing hard this year. I prefer Loveland - cheap and wide-a$$ open for my scetchy carve work. Closest of the resorts to DIA. Copper Mt. should have several runs in good shape by then. Avoid the weekends, if at all possible. Stay in Silverthorne for less than $100/nt midweek or in Georgetown for about $70. I'm going farther west to Utah this Dec. to see some new hills and hoping they get snow enough to enjoy. Good riding...
  13. ...even here in Oklahoma, 100 degree days are over, finally a rainy weekend, and planning winter alpine trips just as my wakeboarding season moves from bare-skinned to wet-suited.
  14. ...wasn't sure who / what got the worst of it. Sort of rung Mario's bell but the post will never be the same. Good times...
