Thanks for the heads up. I think i felt one of mine "pop" tonight. I noticed this sensation mid carve, fortunately I was able to stop and felt wiggle in the heel. I will be replacing them right away. Any sense on the better (stronger) replacements? Thanks all!

What weight range was this set for?

Might be right Corey. I may have misread the initial post. Thought he was looking for a small spaces tight board not just a powder tool. I have used small slalom boards in trees and powder with plates, but it is more challenging. I would have used the SG for an all purpose tool that could carve and go in trees/etc. But you are right, it is more challenging.

He said it was built for 170+. He has pictures and details. chips and nicks but been repaired. I never rode an SG but see the comments in his posting. Its from charlie chocolate

The contra rides The contra is great in all conditions. Its a different variable radius than the vcam. Vcam is 181, contra is 174. The vcam is easier to ride and more smooth variations in surface or snow. It also likes speed a bit more, even though it has a tight radius as well. The Vcam is a nirvana and likes to move and make smooth turns. The contra likes uniform snow, meaning not soft in one spot or icy in the next. It rides well on any condition, but because it is so turny, it feels better on a more uniform surface. Does well is slush, ice, or snow just needs to be the same because of how hard it digs in. So, that all said, when its march in michigan, I take the vcam. its good for hard mornings, a slush mid days. And the variated surfaces in between. It is easy to ride in those questionable days and being a little narrower, it also sails through wet slush. When its January, the snow is good (ice crystals or power) I take the Contra. This thing chews up everything. It digs in hard, turns more than i thought i could, and exits out a slow speeds. I can almost step out of my rear binding at exit speed, it turns that darn well. When i can make 3 turns between lift poles with the nirvana, i can make 4 turns with the contra. So, my love affair with coilers continues. I seem to be improving more and more. But so far, each has a different purpose and a reason to take it over the others. The nirvana is 6 yrs old, and the contra just 3 months. I dont want to part with either of them any time soon. But the contra has made me a better rider.

I'd like to add that the contra is an amazing board. i just got my 174 this season and wow. My riding has gotten so much better. I laugh all day long, kept saying I shouldn't be able to do this! Can turn like a madman, runs over anything and did I mention it turns?? This is loads of fun. Don't get me wrong, it does not replace my nirvana vcam, but it fills in gaps I did not know i had...

Its a sweet board. Good luck to the new owner! That was one rainy icy week. But lots of fun. The demo tent helped me out as my board did not work so well in those conditions.

Was this from the session at Stratton mt a few years back? The ice session?? FYI - this is an amazing board. I have a similar board at 181 that is sooo smooth and fun to ride. My 12 yo son is trying to steal it all the time from me!

They are quite pleasant JRAZZ. They gave a good ride feel, but the question will be on the long haul. I will be interested how they feel after a week or two on them. Looks promising though. What size are your boots?

So a bit of an update on the boots. Fitment - the boots in general are very stiff out of the box. The size seems to run a little smaller but standard liners are warm and supportive. That said, there is an added lace up leather/vinyl support that goes over the liner and is meant to secure the foot to the liner. It could be very comfortable. For me, it created several pressure points that were not comfortable to me. I disassembled the boots and found this inner support was the culprit. I removed them and re-inserted the liners. Much better fit! To this, I then added my molded liners and the fit was super comfortable. Ride report - the boots are very stiff. I was surprised at how well they perform for the quasi hard/soft boot. They had good initiations, built in forward lean, and solid edge control/engagement. The boots remove a lot of chatter from the ride. I was on typical ice sugar wet conditions that we have had this year and I was surprise how good they felt. Overall thoughts - these boots are probably not for everyone. I am not sure how they will hold up after 2-3 weeks of riding. I will have to report back later on that issue. Weight is the biggest plus! They weigh 1/3 to 1/2 of my standard deeluxe boots. This makes the weight on my feet so much less. Warmth is the other plus. Comfy and warm boots and i had no thermo issues on the first few days. Fit is nice. The boa system laces up with no pinch points. So there are not any binding points, no pinching, and no numbing areas from pressure. Summary - i would buy them again. I think they will be much nicer as I get older. They may soft up more to make them better for powder conditions. I hate my soft boots, and the hard boots are exhausting in powder. These will have a home for me on snow days, light use days, and make a good interim or training boot for those converting over to plates.

ibrussell, Not sure if there are around, someone might have some. I used F2 bindings on these. Worked great as I could put three screws across the plate. So the TD plate should work. I just have never done it myself. If you want a deal, i could bundle the F2 bindings I have for sale with the board? Then you have a full working set up.
