  1. This comment about the MK is spot on. It is soooo much fun to ride.
  2. As a diehard Madd fan. I have to agree with this. That 170 is fixable and should be fixed just because.
  3. I had the MK and Angry out yesterday Conditions- Me - Lack of sleep, devil water in my veins (low tier tequila from the night before), and I had to mix 3 different cereals to get a full bowl - like some kind of animal. Snow- Soft packed natural The Angry. Likes centered riding. Very stable. Tortionally stiff on the 20 waist. Rounded tail edges release the carve very easily. Turny with Great edge grip. If it could talk. "Hello friend, we're going to have fun today. I got this" The MK. When forward loaded it bites HARD. The tail loves to finish rounded turns. 18 waist is lightning quick on transitions. Very flick able board. Insane edge grip If it could talk. 4. Looking for a bail and shoulder bolt for TD3 step ins. I will buy a whole toe block assembly if that is available. Anyone have anything? links to the parts I'm looking for - http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/TD3-Lug_p_51.html http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/TD3-Lug-Shaft_p_57.html http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/Trench-Digger-Bail-_p_24.html
  5. "How you guys feeling about new soft boot carving phenomenon?" Getting back to the original question. The more carvers the better IMO. There is a best tool for the job at hand but go and pick whatever. Softboot, hardboot, no boot.
  6. These last few posts are effing ridiculous. So you assert that racing is not carving, then defend your definition of carving against someone else stating that carving should only be done a certain way. You're contradicting yourself within the same sentence. And what racers "grabbed the term" for alpine snowboarding? When did this hostile takeover occur?
  7. Well it does say burton on it I will start the opening bid at $100 Once you send me the money and I have the leash, rest assured I will dispose of it properly
  8. Why aren't you using your carving anchor? Do you not have a carving anchor? Tell me you don't have a carving anchor. It's 2018
  9. Treeeeeeeench...but not too much. Consecutive deep trenches means I'm on a steep slope with good snow. Too soft snow isn't as fun for me though as speed is lost.
  10. I've been enjoying going back to steeper angles recently. I'm forced to on an 18 waist board. I feel like I'm really charging forward being steeper.
  11. These guys from Turkey may have something to say about the origins of snowboarding that the author writes about. https://www.outsideonline.com/2122756/lost-origins-snowboarding
  12. RE: measuring days on the hill - If you've used one of the apps measuring chairlift time vs slope time it is depressingly disproportionate from my experience. Make your turns count.
  13. Creek put down a lot of new snow this week. They did a nice job bouncing back from that warm spell. Once pressed in with the groomers it should be great chalky hardpack.
  14. Try a little steeper section and let the board turn a longer than you think you should. Let it arc uphill a little. That should scrub speed pretty quick. Keep your head looking into the turn to let the board follow then flick that board under you for then next one. Hell, don't even transition to the next turn for a few. Just practice feeding the board fully through the turn. Scrub all your speed off as a practice run a few times. Fast transitions help. I suck my knees into my chest for the next turn. I force the transition to happen as fast as possible.
  15. Fact: every avalanche in history has been triggered by someone calling last run. It may not affect you directly at that instant but you may harm others. And then karma will catch up to you in some form and kill you off. Save humanity - don't call last run.
  16. I don' think that's true. I bought a box of youth from eBay and it did nothing for me. Perhaps it expired.
  17. Creek was great this week, lots open. But today...jeebus. Over 17 hours of rain and 60 deg temps. Back to single digit temps tomorrow. Sharpen those edges.
  18. LOL, still boinginging. But I'll take these blue pills you speak of anyway. I like to ride the whole mountain but I am unwilling to sacrifice ANY carving performance as it's just so damn fun.
  19. I don't have a source for springs but maybe this will help short term. From the carvers almanac For older model years of the TD1, the heel bail on regular bindings and toe bail on step-ins would tend to flop away from the binding, making binding engagement a bit frustrating. Newer TDs have a spring on the bails to keep them from flopping away. To add springs to the old models, you can buy a conversion kit from Bomber. You need to order a TD2 spring, a TD1 spring-enabled sole block, a TD2 spring-enabled lug nut, and a TD2 long shoulder bolt. You might also need to file down the side of the TD1 base plate a bit, since the new arrangement will need more clearance. Other methods that people have used the keep the bails from flopping down: Attach your leash to the bail, then pull on it to get the bail to stay up while you engage your boot. Wrap a rubber band around the bail and tie it off to keep the bail up. Add an o-ring or a piece of vinyl between the shoulder bolt and the binding to add friction. Remove the bail, bend it inward or outward, and then put it back on. The tension will keep it up.
  20. I voted 3, but... There's nothing but groomers nearby so that is my main focus. If I'm at another mountain I don't seek out groomers. I like to ride everything in harboots on a dedicated carving board.
  21. By the end of the season, I am pushing myself to enjoy conditions that are becoming way less than ideal. I go out just to go out. It's still fun but... Then I'm ready for warm weather stuff. Backpacking, bonfires, ocean, mountain biking, swimming holes etc. Around Sept or so I get a sense of something in the air on those first chilly nights. It seeps into my brain and I begin to steadily fiend for snow more and more. That's the beauty of having the seasons change around me. You may or may not get the same sense as summer ends. I hope you do.
  22. I watch Apocalypse Now Redux before I go riding. Every time. With a running length of 4 hours 49 minutes. How's that for inspiration
