beautiful bluebird day, good opening, but very chilly! only lower lifts open

then about 11am chair one opens and the west bowl too. my toes were

getting numb so i took a break then chair one opens and it wasn't so cold.

seems like the wind died down and the sun was out so it wasn't too bad.

kinda funky snow down low, a bit icy and dry, but carveable, topside very

good snow. i did not go down the backside, but i heard there was some

good pow stashes. frontside there was about four to five inches of pow

off groom. wasn't too crowded in the morning even later in the afternoon.

heard there was maybe 1600 people, i think the cold kept most people

home. pushed it really hard for the first day. had lunch in the village then

went down chair six to end my day and caught a cramp at the bottom

of the run. the mountain is in good mid winter condition and can only get

better. breaking out the metal on monday. it's minus 10 at 10:30pm...

grey overcast, flat light, slightly foggy halfway up, humid wet cold that

felt colder than the dry cold. started to lightly snow in the afternoon.

snow is getting better as more moisture is on its way. forcast is more

snow and warmer temps by the weekend. groomers are somewhat

bumppy, lots of little dips and rollers and uneven in the seams, but

snow is very good and grippy. had a hard time in the morning with

the bigger board and sore legs, but still got er done in the noontime.

got my 165amt ready to carve last night, but as i woke and took a look

outside i was surprised to see seven plus inches of light pow. so changed

gears and grabed the softboot stuff. so with the artic chill already here

and a pacific front pushing thru it dumped plenty. good lite puffy powder

over the firm stuff so there was some scraping early on then as it got

bumped up not so much. it was easy to plow thru the bumpy stuff so

stayed fun all day. busy with all the powder hounds in the morning then

quiet in the afternoon. oh yeah!, yesterday was a ghost town. today is

only the fourth day and it has been very good, epic pow day! forcast is

more snow and warmer temps by the weekend.

worked in the morning. not much new snow, very humid, classic big mtn

fog from chair 2 on up. got on snow about 1:30pm and it was bumped up

with the soft snow from yesterday. snow was wetter and should groom

down nicely tomorrow. fog was thick and i did not bother to head up high.

stayed on chair 2 with a used new to me donek 163mfc. was very tentative

the first hour with sore legs and new board, but after i got it, was pushing

really hard and tweaked my right ankle from the bumped up conditions.

super fun board that i think will work better on nicer groom. warmer temps

this week then maybe more cold next week.

worked in the morning till 10:30am. as i was on my way to the hill the fog

and cloud level was at the top of chair two. by the time i got on snow the

fog was down to the bottom of ed's run. the snow was bumped up and

kinda heavy and rattled me around and had a few butt outs. fog was very

thick at times and was about two chair vis. conditions was just like wenesday.

caught a front edge and went down hard on upper mully's then went down

hellroaring just pass slalom and my back binding popped open then went

down and fell under the ropes just under the chair 2 lifts. so it was time to

call it after only two hours.

mostly cloudy in the early morning as the mountain opens then slowly

clears by noontime. groomers was as good as it gets in the morning,

but with the sun shining the snow slowly softens into a chunky mess.

the wind too was kicking in the morning then dies by noontime. very

good carving on ed's with only a hand full people on it. toni matt was

groomed very good too till noontime then starts to get bumped up.

went to lunch about 1:30pm then went to the backside to cruise

around and the snow quality back there was amazing, buffed out

smooth, firm and grippy. pushed hard and had a blast, today was

awesome. felt like a warm spring day at lunchtime. should be firm

tomorrow...

i thought yesterday was really good, but today was a carvers dream day.

buffed out smooth firm and grippy. super thin high overcast that filtered

the sun and kept things cool and good vis. firm snow that gets lightly skied

off, but some areas got chunky marbles when skied off. i had to leave early

to a dental appointment on the best carving day, poopoo! anyways, pushed

hard and had a blast. forcast is cooler temps and more snow the next few

days then a little warm up again.

yesterday snowed all day here in town and into the night. cold temps kept

it lite and fluffy. big mtn reported 15in. in 24hrs. and 8in. overnight. snow

was lite and fluffy, but there was the hardpack underneath from a couple

days of warm temps. worked wed., thur. and fri. thur was a beautiful blue

bird day and i think it was a good groomer day. today was busy with the

beginning of the holiday season. thought it was going to be an epic pow

day, but it was alright. lite fog on the very top and overcast and cold.

forcast is more snow and a little warm up. holiday madness!!!...

kinda of a warmer morning, yesterday was getting slushy here in town.

woke up to a couple inches of wetter snow and on the mountain there

was about three to four inches of good creamy pow over groom and a

little more off groom. was about six chair on chair 2 then bombed ed's

to chair 1 and got first chair then waited for 20 minutes and it was

worth it. first run down toni matt was so smooth. wasn't too busy in

the morning, but later in the afternoon there seemed to be more tourist.

lightly snowing all day and light fog down low, very humid. had some

really good untracked runs, really enjoyed today.

after yesterdays creamy pow today was some nice soft groomers. had to

be careful not to go close to the edges. heard from a big mtn ambassador

that they requested to leave some ungroomed areas along some runs for

people to go in and out of pow and groomers. groomers was soft and dug

in deep then gets bumped up fast with the high traffic. dark clouds on the

north side and some clouds on the south side with some sun peaking thru

and shinning on ed's in the early morning. temps was very comfortable and

visibility was good. groomers wasn't the greatest, there's still lots of weird

dips and rollers cause there has been so much new snow. should be colder

tonight and tomorrow with no new snow so groomers should be very good.

merry christmas! santa came thru with the best groomers so far this season.

after mondays dump and second day grooming, todays cooler temps was the

perfect set up for an awesome carving day. just a little cloud on the very top

early in the morning then the sun was out most of the day. everybody was

saying how great, awesome, beautiful today was, the views were awesome

everywhere you looked. i was pooped by lunch, but stayed a little longer just

to enjoy the day. it was quiet in the early morning then got busy by lunchtime

and conditions got bumpy. if it doesn't snow tonight tomorrow should be good.

super high clouds and super high crowds, good vis with very little room.

hasn't snowed since monday and with the high traffic groomers are

getting buffed out smooth. so much people that it gets a little bumpy.

on monday's pow day i tweaked my right foot and rode hard tue. and wed.

and i should have stayed home today, but my niece and nephews are here

so i did an hour on chair 2 then down to chair 6. it was the busiest i have

seen here. well my foot is swollen and sore and is hard to walk on it.

groomers are really good and is good as it gets, but the crowds are crazy.

my foot still feels buggy, but i will work the next three days and will see how it goes

on saturday. really bummed i did not get to ride with my nieces and nephews.

today was on the warm side.

to get to the new runs you need to take the t-bar2. i did big creek on a powder day

and really couldn't tell what the terrain looked like. not very steep and narrow. you

be better off on softboots. as for dr.d i would label him retired and as for johnasmo

i dunno cause he's here racking verts. can't wait to see you and mr. banned.

happy new year!!!

last night between 4 and 6pm it dumped about 5 inches of good pow

here in town. yesterday wmr reported 7 inches, today there was an

inch plus over groom on chair 2 and dumping snow all morning. there

was so much people on chair 1 that i did not bother to go up, so

stayed on chair 2 and it too got busy so called it early. first run on

ed's was awesome as the groom underneath felt nice and firm. the

snow kept falling and with the high traffic it got really bumpy. temp

felt cooler and there was a good wind from the north. would have

been a good day on the softies, but still concerned about my right

foot. i think the hardboots helped caused my foot feels fine. kids

go back to school on monday and the tourist should be filtering out

and we should have our mountain back. happy new year...
