brutal high artic winds from the north that picked up any loose snow

and blasted it into the sky. i think most of you wtf'ers would have called

it after a few runs. thursday wasn't so bad compared to today. temps

near zero with super windy minus degree wind chills. groomers were

polished ice with some snow in the low spots. rode the jja 156bx and

had a hard time with it in the morning after four runs and felt like i

brought the wrong board. took a break and got back on it with no

problem, found were my body should be then had a blast. this board

was amazing on the icy conditions. cloudy in the morning then the sun

comes out and sometimes filter thru light clouds. forcast for tomorrow,

A slight chance of flurries. Partly sunny and cold, with a high near -7.

Wind chill values as low as -32. East northeast wind 14 to 16 mph,

with gusts as high as 24 mph. another great carving day!

stomach flu

felt ok in the morning yesterday, but just before lunch was feeling kinda

weird, had lunch and rode fine. in the evening all night had the runs and

even threw up in the morning so i did not go up to ride. just as well cause

chair one did not run cause of very cold temps and minus degree wind chills.

it was a beautiful bluebird day, but super cold. it was a good day to rest

anyways. tomorrow and thursday should be even colder. i was going to

check the skiwhitefish website, but the "Monkeys stole the database... ( )."

f#(%ing bastards!... anyways, gotta work the next three days and hope

saturday is good to go...

supposed to be warmer, but it was cold and windy in the morning then

by noontime it warmed up alittle. groomers was good and icy in the morning

then by lunchtime it was really good. left by 2pm to watch the winter carnival

here in town. it was mostly sunny and good vis. was going down toni matt

and on a toe side turn at the outer most carve, this skier about 10 inches away

whizzed by so i follow him down and give him a shove and get in his face and

tell him to slow down and a few choice words. anyways, great carving day

and pushed hard from the beginning.

Family Day weekend in AB this weekend, so the Calgary hordes will be descending like locusts. Town is completely sold out according to Expedia.

Our local hills (apart from Nakiska - of course) all have or are getting snow today, so I think I'll stay home. I'll see you guys in a few weeks though - I forgot that I'm heading back to NZ in mid-March, and by the time I get back, your season will be done, so guess I'd better get back down there and get some more turns in!

two to three inches of good thick creamy pow over groom that supported

you and hardly felt the bottom. there was more pow off groom and it was

good. rode the softies and had a blast, first few runs over groom was so

smooth. rode hard then had lunch then rode harder. good vis all day with

the sun coming out for a little while now and then. it was a good change

to be on the softboots and rode stronger as the day went on. forcast for

the next few days is a warm up with more snow/rain.

a little cloudy in the early morning then by 10am the sun filters thru

super high very thin haze and vis was very good and temps got warm

by noontime. very soft groomers from yesterdays pow with no overnight

new snow. not the best carving day as the soft snow was slow and the

high traffic bumped it up fast and the warm temps made it a little slushy.

stayed on chair 2 for a few hours cause chair 1 was packed, went to

the summit to take a break then did a few laps on chair 5 then back to

chair 2 and did some runs on heaven to avoid huge crowds. it was a

super busy day and i think it will be busy all week.

have been good for the hardboots, but there was some good pow off

piste so softies was fun. took wed. and thur. off so will ride with my

nephew tomorrow. forcast is more rain/snow.

took the day off to ride with my nephew and it was a great day. 4 inches

of new off groom and first few runs were great. the new snow from the pass

few days mixed with todays snow made for some good pow runs. mostly

cloudy in the morning then the sun goes in and out. temps was comfortable

all day. met up with johnasmo about 2pm and he gave us the tour of weird

runs that nobody in their right mind would do, totally fun! we had a really

great day.

big mtn reported no new snow, but as the day started it started to dump

hard and dumped all day. by the end of the day there was at least four

inches plus. rode with my nephew again and it was hard to believe it was

only his 8th day snowboarding, he rode like a champ. snow was alittle

firm in the morning, but got better as the day went on. was alittle wet

and cold early on then got drier and comfortable. another great powder day.

worked in the morning till 11am and looking at the big the sun was shining

on it. by the time i got on the lifts at 1pm it was like a blizzard with wind

blowing snow off the trees and going sideways and dumping hard. then the

sun comes out again then more snow. not much new and the snow was

getting a little hard packed which will be good tomorrow if it doesn't snow.

rode the softies all week and had so much fun riding with my nephew.

forcast is a huge dump sunday and monday and colder temps.

no new snow so it was a great soft groomer day. as for the weather we

had it all, sunshine, fog, snow, warm, cold, but no wind. it was cooler and

kept things dry. very busy with weekend warriors and kids. it was good to

be back on the hardboots, but looks like monday will be a powder day.

big mtn reported 2in overnight and 4in in 24hrs so rode the softies.

way south of us got a ton of snow so i was thinking we would get

plenty, but we only got maybe an inch over groom and a few inches

off groom. it would have been a good hardboot day. temps was cooler

and we had sunshine in the morning then super high haze that slowly

got thicker and got even colder. no crowds today and found some

good left over pow here and there. still, had fun on the softies and

beginning to enjoy it more.

rode the amp5 from 9 till 4...

beautiful bluebird day with epic groomers and it was good to the last chair.

lite crowds kept the groomers good all day. it was a little firm in the morning,

but very good for carving and the sun softened it up just a little cause the

temps was cooler. today was one of the better carving days. really cold by

the weekend.

snowed yesterday and last night and woke up to 3to4 inches here in town.

a few inches over groom and the first few runs was smooth butter then

off groom it was bottomless. very humid and fog on the top with very lite

snow. rode hard from the get go and was getting hungry and losing energy.

during lunch it started to dump hard and looked like wet icy rain at first then

snow and i didn't feel like going back out so called it at 2pm. good pow day!

I was going to try and make it down there this weekend, but I forgot that the roomie was heading to Vegas for a few days tomorrow, so I have no beast-sitter. So I'm going to hang out locally instead. Dunno if I'm going to make it again this season now ... bummer. I'll try and make it down for closing weekend, but not holding my breath.

another few more inches of good pow and very warm and humid. fog all

day and thicker on top. had the best snow down the face under chair 1

it was the smoothest pow ride all season and kinda going by feel as the

fog was a few chairs vis. every run the snow got a little heavier each

time. i was going to call it at 1pm, but just missed the snow bus so a few

more runs then just missed the 2pm snow bus so had a beer at the stube.

on my last run before 2pm the snow was very heavy on the lower mtn.

forcast for the next week here in town is in the mid to upper 40's.

might be the end of a good season and the beginning of the spring slush.

gone fishing

tuesday was getting warm and by 2pm the snow was getting wet-n-heavy,

that was the last time i rode and it has only gotten warmer. really haven't

heard too much from people. well, the fishing sucked too, my buddy and i

did not even get a nibble, but it was a nice sunny morning then super high

thin haze builds slowly. did not have time to update on saturday so i am

updating it today, it's sunday at 4pm and it's 54 degrees here in town.

i will try tomorrow, forcast is some rain.
