Bora20
I got a "Sweet board dude" from a 19 year old liftie. Lots of "that is one of those speed boards isn't it". I am the only local alpine rider on the mountain.
Corey
"Is that one of them Olympic boards?" I got a lot of interesting comments/looks with a plate and a GoPro camera on the side of my helmet.
bjvircks
A week ago, shuffling along in the lift line I see out of the corner of my eye a youngster nudge his buddy frantically. He points at my board and I hear him say, in a voice like a kid opening up his 1st centerfold... "Whoa! Look at THIS!!!"
xxguitarist
Heard at the other end of the lift line (ie, unloading zone) A father, speaking to his son in my direction, loud enough for me to hear: Hey, it's the king of carve! ..this put quite a smile on my face, regardless of if it was from me running the liftline, or he just saw the style of board I ride & associated me with some of the better riders who frequent Sunapee. wingnuts514
I was just starting my run when a guy pointed and yelled from a chair ( about 25 yds away), "Monoboarder!!!!!" @ bluewood mountain. I just laughed and gave him a thumbs up. a lifty at Shweitzer, "sick prior man, are those TD2s?" he was the first person I have encountered that knew what he was talking about. bombing down a cat track, another guy was riding goofy on a freestyle board so we were facing eachother, "dude, I want one of those boards, where did you get that." of course I told him about BOL! And several people have asked, why is that board so skinny, is it fast? my brother likes to cut me off before I can say anything and say, "he's still stuck in the 1980's!!!" then I laugh and tell him he is stuck in first gear and procede to smoke him down the mountain at will. scrapster
From three, young ski racers (about 10 years old) in a program at my local hill: Them: Is that a carving board? Me: Yeah. Them: Cool. You're the only respectable snowboarder on the mountain. You don't just slide all over the place. And you go really fast down the hill. Obviously, these kids had never seen me ride. ;) So I let them proceed down the hill first, with their wildly out-sized notions about my skills intact. Steve Prokopiw
than you do riding ." The other day at Silver from a couple of local ski race parents(really).I thanked them and then assured them that I'm the one having more fun. Yard Sale
First day out of the season: taking a break on the hill in my hardboots, TD2s, with 4807, a skier skids to a stop. Skier: "I know what kind of snowboard that is." Me: "Oh yeah." Skier: "It's a racing board." Same day, same gear, lift line. Kids: "That board is badass!" Me: "Hell yeah it is. You should try one." --- Today, Prior WCR-M. Lift line ticket/pass checker chick: "Is that hard?"
Wolf
When my legs get tired and/or the hill crowds up, I switch to doing little cross-under turns with my upper body facing straight down the fall line, and the board just making "s" curves under me covering maybe 70 or 80 degrees of arc. I rode the lift with a guy who said the instructor from his just-completed ski lesson was telling the students to ski the way I was boarding. tufty
... replacing on a drag the other day, two american park rats arrive, chatting loudly (lift services not only a very mild blue slope, but also the small boardercross and the airbag) APR #1 : Man, I hate pomas, I fall off every time. APR #2 : Me too, I'm walking up. Makes me laugh every time, that one. All of our lifts, with the exception of the 2 little über-beginner ropes and one chair by Skirail, are made by POMA, and marked as such on every pylon and chair in big blue letters. After grinning broadly, I showed them the basics of "taking drags without falling on your ass before pylon 1".
arneburner
I am on my 186 F2 Speedster, the park rat and his friend are on 150 twin tips. One friend says to the other, I bet I can keep up with him. I laugh. The other friend says "dude, that guy just laughed at you". Fortunately, we ride off in different directions so we don't have to find out.

Guest
I get the "isn't that board for going really fast?" a lot. Not that anyone has tried to "race" me, but don't we all fall at the same speed? I'm talking about two people not going through gates, wax and board length/surface area theorycraft aside. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I typically respond, "It's made for going fast through turns." Or something along those lines that involves a discussion of boot angles, too. mattj
Late last year I was sitting next to the stairs up to the food area at Loveland tweaking my new set of TD3 SI's and I noticed a guy in a Loveland uniform explaining what my board and bindings were to a girl. She was asking questions about the width of the board, stance angles etc and he was doing a great job answering her. She asked me what I was doing and I explained that the bindings were new and I was still tweaking them. Then the guy said "I probably made those. I also work for Fin, running one of his CNC machines." All I could say was "Thanks, you did a great job!" Matt
michael.a
"Pssshh, look, his board is only round at one end, is there something wrong with it?" The couple (actually the girlfriend) then asked me what kind of snowboard I had followed by a million more questions. Evidently all the attention I was getting kinda ticked off the boyfriend and as soon as we got off the lift he yelled at her "we're going this way" and pulled her off of me :)

Futahaguro
I got two comments last night; Liftie: "I haven't seen one of those for a while." -This was of my Burton Alp 169 with TD-2s so I'm not sure if he knew what he was talking about and actually knew my board is a little old or if he meant that he hasn't seen an alpine board for a while. Other comment; Teenager behind me: "Is that board hard to ride?" Me: "Not really, it feels really weird at first but you get used to it." Teenager: "That board's legit." :) It actually makes the day more fun to get these comments.
Corey
As somewhere between 8 and 12 carvers are all getting in the lift line at NES (Nakiska Exp. Session), one skier says to his buddy: "All the snowboarders here ride such crazy boards!"

Bora20
I got a "Glad to see there are still a few of you hardbooters left" from a skier in his 50's today. And another guy sharing the chair with me asked if they were step-ins. We have a long conversation as he had Burton soft step-ins from about 10 years ago. On the other side of things, the my friend I sold me soft boot setup to said that she wanted to go as fast as me today after riding with me. She has the same size feet, so there may be a demo ride in her near future.
