Jack M
help me out with a debate here... I kind of expect "No." to win, but I'm curious by how much. Or maybe it won't. I thought it was hilarious.

Sinecure
Like many intellectually funny movies (I can't believe I just said that about Spinal Tap), so many of the jokes get better with the re-telling and revisiting. But it was funny. Anyone for a 6" long snowboard?!?
willywhit
are you kidding me ? NOT funny ? ask him if Billy Madison was funny. Rob Reiner is a comedic genius. ya gotta see the bootleg version This Is Spın̈al Tap (officially spelled with a non-functional umlaut over the letter 'n' and dotless 'i') http://www.spinaltapfan.com/articles/video.html steven tyler said he thought they were poking fun directly at Areosmith:rolleyes: not funny ????? c'mon ! you know I can't resist <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T27oOfoZPg0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T27oOfoZPg0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Jack M
If I were single or at least childless, I'd have a board made with custom graphics of what they originally wanted on the cover of Smell The Glove... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8IrZ4sKLQw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8IrZ4sKLQw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
carvedog
Anyone who doesn't think Spinal Tap is funny, wouldn't know funny if it bit them on their assumptions.
Galen
I thought it was funny back then, and when I saw it with the kids(17-22) recently, we all thought it was hilarious. But then, I like all the movies they have done recently, too. Best in Show, Mighty Wind, etc...

"It's not sexy its sex-ist" "You see if had tied all you up then it wouldn't be a problem" "Such a fine line between stupid and clever" That does it I gotta go rent this and watch it again, because that is comedy gold. ncermak
proud to say I own both the DVD and the Black album. Some of the finest comedy of our times. With songs like big bottoms - "Talk about mudflaps my girl's got 'em" - and Stonehenge (played in college whenever our 5'4" buddy entered the party at Pierce House) how could you miss? Nigel for President!
Mike T
Every line in the movie is funny if you watch it enough times. Anyone who thinks otherwise can lick my love pump :p
willywhit
some people just can't see comedy when it's sitting right next to 'em on the bus, or train, or airplane. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__8fQh04tjo&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__8fQh04tjo&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> can't even describe why this is funny <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iILu-IL_xI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iILu-IL_xI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

skatha
True story.... My husband hadn't seen Spinal Tap when it first came out and had never heard of the movie at all, in fact. I promptly went and got the DVD. I told him my favorite part was Stonehenge....He laughed so hard he nearly p*ssed his pants when he saw Stonehenge being lowered onto the stage Sirius Radio plays Spinal Tap on their Buzzsaw channel alot.... willywhit
I'm not making this stuff up...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Is_Spinal_Tap According to a 1997 interview in Spin magazine with Aerosmith rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford, "The first time Steven [Tyler] saw it he didn't see any humor in it. That's how close to home it was. He was pissed! He was like, 'That's not funny!'" <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlf5ucFanpY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xlf5ucFanpY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
AccidentalChef
Where's the option for "Oh, Hell Yes!"? Seriously, Spinal Tap is about as good as it gets. Never seen anyone not laugh at it.

Steve Prokopiw
probably don't think Monty Python flicks are funny either(Every sperm is sacred, after all).I vote yes.
Rob Stevens
When the band is having a hard time getting gigs, they do one at a carnival, where the puppet show gets top billing. A pretty low-key scene, but you're all laughing right now thinking about it.
Derf
Sorry, but I didn't find it funny. Maybe I was not in the right mood when I watched it? Maybe I don't laugh at the same stuff everyone laughs at.
Jack M
I'm a little surprised "yes" is winning so handily. I voted yes of course, but I thought perhaps the movie was too slow and subtle to have mass appeal.

I thought it was funnier the second time around when I got some of the more subtle jokes.
Kimo
Maybe the poll results indicate more about hardbooters than was planned. What are the odds that we, who enjoy a "fringe" offshoot of snowboarding, would also enjoy a non-mainstream movie like Spinal Tap?
