BobD
The, "Hate summers, gimme winter or a beer club" Just went back to work last week after 8 months. The construction industry has totally collapsed in MN. Anyway starting back with a week of dew points in the seventies was a hard slog. I'd much sooner be wearing Carharts and thermals, working a zero temps than this crap. Drank 4 litres of water in eight hours and was still dehydrated. Actually I've rediscovered a taste for cider (real cider) not the supermarket kid's stuff. Very refreshing for a first drink getting home. queequeg
After the hellacious ****-storm of a week I've been having, I'm looking forward to getting a little crazy tomorrow night at my friends rooftop party. In celebration of the inevitable, I'm drinking a few beers before I go to bed.

Allee
What a bunch of pisstanks. Says she, who discovered the hard way at SES that tequila and altitude don't mix, and had to be carried home at 6.30pm...
b0ardski
I havent seen the Strongbow yet, but mrs b0ardski says it was a mainstay in England when she was stationed there (before we met). the 1st hard cider I ever tried was Seven Sisters (a Mt.group in southern Selkirks)brewed right here in North Idaho with local (BC, ID, WA) apples in the '80s-'90s. Cool Crisp & Refreshing. Was bummed when they went out of buisiness. The closest thing Ive found since then is HardCore, ask for it. Hornsby's is wannabe wine cooler garbage, & most others I've tried are too sweet. If all cider was as good as Hardcore it would be popular enough to find anywhere. I'm drinking one now. p.s cider was more common than ale when this country was new
dingbat
CI-DAHHH! There's a Joint right up the hill from me that turns out some decent stuff. The web site comes off a little snooty, but when it's poured by the pint off the tap...... West County Cider
b0ardski
thanks for the link Dingbat. The Pippins sounds like the one that I'd like the most. Sure wish we had a local cideary around here.
Jack M
Found a good inexpensive vodka recently. Tried a bottle of Pinnacle on recommendation from a friend. Did a side-by-side with some Kettle One I had on hand and I actually like it better. $16 for a liter here. Distilled in France with French spring water. So it's not Stoli Elit, but well worth checking out.
LeeW
Ah, vodka. got a preference for kafir lime hangar-one vodka, as well as their extremely-rare chipotole vodka.

The web site comes off a little snooty, but when it's poured by the pint off the tap...... West County Cider Cider Houses are popular in the UK. The main Cider producing counties are Somerset and Devon (the west country as it is known). In those areas the cider is produced locally and can be extremely strong. Known as "scrumpy", it often comes in plastic jugs straight from the farm ala moonshine. BobD

Fleaman
when our crew works through lunch we get off at 1:30. Sometimes we go to the pub and drink untill 7 or 8 pm No food since breakfast lots of beer makes for a disaster. Now instead of buying rounds of shots, we buy chicken wings or food, its actually cheaper and better for ya.
