Carp
Sounds fun. I'm going to try and make it. I've got 1 maybe two others that would be interested in going. If I don't have any company it sounds like a long drive for just me. One guy (beginner carver) is a pilot so he's either off flying or he's available. The other two guys I just have to talk them into a day of vacation.

BobD
The pvc pipe shouldn't droop too much if it is cold. Then again if it's cold, the pvc could shatter if hit. Plumbing wholesalers sell 20' lengths (we would need more than a 10'length. It might be a good idea to wrap the pipe in foam insulation to make it a bit more user friendly. Scuff
BobD: I've caught a couple of the "Minnesota Bound" shows. They are pretty well produced. Hope they can make it. Trent: How long is that limbo bar? I can just imagine wraping myself around one of those uprights, turning a friendly "Boarder limbo" into "human horseshoes." (Sometimes it just sucks being tall.) ~Karl
Diggin in MN
Don't ya have any other boards? I can bring an extra board for you if you want. Yea, I do...but I made a promise to myself that the Donek be the first I ride this year. Don't worry....I'll have it in time.
trent
the actual limbo bar is not made of pvc. only the side supports are pvc. the actual bar is made of wood, or bamboo. and it's quite long. lots of space between the posts. you're not THAT tall! you should be more concerned with the bar jumping away from you, so that it doesn't have to touch the zubaz jacket. :p if you look at the picture, the pegs the bar sits on are open. one little bump, and the bar falls off / bounces off. no real reason to worry about getting hurt by the bar. -trent
Speedzilla
I hope Welch is able to make some snow before the 10th, it looks like there are a couple nights this week that might get cold enough. I'll probably be bring a couple boards that I'm willing to sell. So if someone is interested, they can "try before they buy".
powell1.8
I will definately make it out. I'm looking forward to meeting more carvers, and seeing some I know.
trent
quick update on cheaper lift tickets.... if you check the welch website, they list some local area shops that sell discounted tickets. i was at summit ski yesterday (in woodbury), they sell the tickets for $34 (vs $42 at welch). all you locals should make it to an erik's bike shop or other retailer that sells these discounted tickets. out of town people - send me a pm if you want me to pick one of these up for you. -trent
trent
got some more info on the tickets. they range from $29 - $32 dollars, depending on the retailer. sports authority also should have them. so call around a little for the best deal. bob and i were out at welch today. conditions are slushy, but plenty of coverage. the trenches were nice and deep when we left. -trent
Diggin in MN
It looks like they may be able to make snow Mon and Tues night pending the weather report being correct. I just got my email confirmation from Sean at Donek, and I get the Blade on tuesday night. I just got the TD2's and suspension kit yesterday...I'm pumped...but worried that there won't be enough coverage and I'll ruin the base of my new baby. Should I bring my old Prime just incase, or should conditions be good enough not to worry? I can't believe I'm worried about snow conditions in mid January! trent
hey diggin! bring the old board in case, but i wouldn't worry about it. as long as you stay away from any brown, you'll be fine. the snow base is actually deeper than you'd think given our winter so far. i've been on my brand new board the past 2 days, and the base is fine. and after my last "first day" on a new board, i'm very cautious! (i'll tell you about it wed). -trent

johnstewart
So myself and 1-2 other guys were hoping to make it up there on Wednesday from the Madison area. I wanted to get a hotel room at the casino up the road (and maybe get a little gamble on) for Tuesday night. http://www.treasureislandcasino.com/accommodations/hotel.asp However, I just called and the only rooms they have left are multi-room jacuzzi suites for $160 As much as I'd like to get romantic with the hairy sons of bitches I'd be riding with, I'd prefer to have cheaper room costs. Are there any other out of towners that would be interested in sharing some floor space to knock down the per-person price on Tuesday night? Are there any other cheaper accomodations nearby I should check out (yet still close enough to the casino to get some table-time in on Tuesday night)? thanks! Guest Shawn
I think I am going to try to join you guys tomorrow, as long as something major does not come up at work... I've lurked here a bit and was trying to figure out if I knew any of the Buck hill guys, I'm pretty sure I know Dave "Speedzilla" I worked out at buck several years as a Instructor and also in the Rental shop. My name is Shawn Anderson.... Do you think they will be making snow in the morning?? one thing I cannot find is my goggles and not sure if I want to buy a pair for possibly the only time I really need them.. Scuff
Congrats on the new gear! I saw that most if not all of the snow guns were in full force last night at Hyland. Hope Welch is doing the same. Should make for some nice turns. *cough*, *sniff*, *wink*
