  1. I'll be riding Sun Valley Sunday 1/14/07 thru Wednesday 1/17/07! After that I'll be heading down to Utah thru the 27th to hit up a few areas there! Seeing that our winter on the east coast hasn't quite arrived yet, I'm totally looking forward to going out west! I'm going to be in rough shape though as I've only got one day under my belt so far this year. See ya!
  2. Does anyone know if Sun Valley offers discount lift tickets? If so, where would I buy them? How are the conditions shaping up at Sun Valley? Thanks and I can't wait to check it out!
  3. I have a question. I am thinking about retiring my tuckered out K2 Eldo. Initially, I was leaning towards a Donek Incline, a Never Summer Premier or an Arbor A-Frame to be used with my soft boots. But I got the latest TWS magazine and they were talking about powder boards. Now I live and ride in New England mostly, with a trip out west once a year, if I'm lucky. So a full blown powder board like a 4807 I don't think would make sense for me. But TWS also talked about tapered powder boards. So it got me to thinking, how would a Burton Fish type board ride/handle on the deverse/varied snow conditions of the northeast and New England? Seeing that I spend most of my time, I'd say 75-90%, on an alpine board, my freeride deck comes out early/late season. Or when I happen to be lucky enough to encounter powder here on the east coast or when I go out west. Any thoughts?
  4. It's probably closed at this point. I believe they close it from about 11/15 thru 4/15.
  5. I hope I'm not thread jacking...but...I've been fighting with a shin-bang type situation for a while and have tried a few different things to no avail. I was just on www.tognar.com and, under the boot fitting area, they have these foamy type tongue things that I think a person would install on the inside of a boots tongue between the liners. Is this the type of foam or neoprene that might help me out too?
  6. Hey Jerry, Do you know of any ski clubs that might have a lodge near Sun Valley? Or maybe a Hostel or a nice but inexpensive place to stay? It looks like I might be coming out that way 1/21/01 thru 1/24/07! Looks like a sweet place to ride! Jeff
  7. ...but it sounds like the specs of an Oxygen Proton 168. I could be wrong though.
  8. You suck Ray!!! :) It's 60 degrees and raining here! I can feel it! Can't wait!
  9. ...what are your opinions on the Snowpro standard bail bindings? Are there going to be any durability issues for a somewhat aggressive, intermidiate 150 pound carver? I'm running TD2 step-ins and I was thinking about just trying something different. I see I would have to remove my Intec heels if I do go with the Snowpros, eh?
  10. Anyone ever freeride/carve at Sun Valley? Any kind of info would be cool! Best time to go. Where to stay. How crowded it might be. How far would Sun Valley be from Ogden, Utah? Thanks!
  11. ...I thought I'd update with my final decision. I was all set to go with the Dunlop Winter Sport M3 that Paulk had recommended...No longer made with limited availability. Bummer. So I went with the M3s' replacement: the Dunlop Winter Sport 3D. The rubber compound of the 3D feels softer than that of the M3, so we'll have to see how quickly they will wear down. Hopefully not as fast as some of the Blizzacks!
  12. Not sure where you are in the US, but I believe on the east coast The Starting Gate is an Intuition Liner dealer. www.startingate.net As far as the Thermoflex liner, I bought a pair last January from Bomber, andyes it does have the neoprene toe box area. I never got the chance to have them molded into any of my boots due to higher than normal injuries last year. So I don't have any insite as to any additional molding procedures with the neoprene toe box. Good luck!
  13. Hey gotta put a plug in for a Donek Sasquatch. They come in a length of 162/166/170 with a 28cm waist width. At $450.00 + $35.00 for shipping and promising specs for this person, it might be worth looking into. Plus, you might try looking for one of these boards used on ebay. I've never ridden a Donek freeride board, but many on this board do and they get rave reviews. I myself am on the opposite specrum and am thinking about getting a Donek Incline freeride board. Just my two cents!
  14. I've been carving for about 6 years now and I get to get out about 30-50 days a year. I ride with both AF600 & SB323 splitting my riding time between the two boots in half, about. Last year was the first year that I broke an instep ratchet strap on my rear boot of my AF600. Now keep in mind, that I am a light-weight at 150 pounds and I barely need to cinch my straps down. So I don't have any complaints about the ratchet straps. I have to agree with bobdea about the lame a$$, lousy cant adjusters on the SB series boots. They have needed replacement I think twice and move pretty much every day that I ride. Pain in the arse!
  15. Hey D-Sub, I know that my old 99 Outback Sport with the 2.2L motor w/142hp was rated at 1000 pound towing capacity...so I would imagine the 06 Outback with the 2.5L w/173hp should be the same if not more towing capacity. Hope this helps.
  16. I would suggest contacting Dan Yoja @ www.upzboots.com He is, like, THE UPZ boot dealer/distributor for North America. If anyone knows of a way to secure the toe/heel blocks more securely, he may. Excellent customer service from Dan. I've never bought anything from him, but I have e-mailed him about UPZ/UPS boots and he was more than helpful for me! Hope this helps!
  17. Yeah, These forum thingys can get a little touchy if someone mis-inturpits(sp) what another is saying(writing)! I probably came across a little defensive, didn't I? Both racks are quality products, no doubt! No harm, no foul!
  18. Gecko...Although you are correct in that Thule is based out of Sweden, alot of the Thule components/attachments/pieces are made here in America! So with the purchase of a Thule Rack System, I am supporting the American economy and the American people who help manufacture the Thule components here in the USA. But that's not the reason I started this post!
  19. I wasn't sure if this would be snow related or O/T since alot of us use racks for cycling, kayaking, etc, etc, etc. So in buying a new car this summer, I needed to get a new roof rack. In doing my research on a new rack, it got me to thinking about what kind of racks the Carving Community uses! I choose to go with a Thule again. I've had Thule racks since 1987...so I stuck with what I know! What about you?
  20. For those of you out there who ride the Thundercloud Snow Raider glove, I generally gravitate to the size small when I'm choosing gloves. And wouldn't you know that the Thundercloud starts at a size medium! Do they run on the small size or on the big size? At $40.00 bucks, I'd like to give them a try, but if they are going to be too big...bummer for me.
  21. yeah, I pretty much knew that I wouldn't be able to put on 15 inch steelies. The good news is that the tirerack will have 16 inch steelies soon, but for $11.00USD more the tirerack has some closeout alloys that I think that I'm going to go with. Thanks for the info people, and keep it coming!!!
  22. Hey Geoff, Are you thinkin' about getting the Pirelli Winter Carving tire just because it has carving in the name? :)
  23. Winter is coming and I need to get some fresh winters for my new ride! I just picked up a 2006.5 VW New GTI and the tires on the 17 inchers aren't goin' to cut it! What kind of winter tires do you guys run? What would be your recommendations? Should I get 17 inch winter tires and have them mounted to my VW stockers, or maybe go down to a 16 inch wheel package? I've been kinda lookin' at some Nokians, Continentals, Pirellis... And maybe some Winterforce because they are cheap, but will they be any good. Thanks and let the debate begin.
  24. I smell whacha steppin' in! Damn them trolls!
  25. Hey Willy, Gettin' a little possessive...aren't we? I thought this was a "public" forum?
