  1. The Mammoth website was reporting 12" as of yesterday. Local sources saying more... Considering going up this comming weekend. Anyone else going to be there?
  2. Chirs, I was trying to compare it to the Renntiger 183 race stock. If I recall right, you have had experiece with this board. I think we had conversation about the RT race stock sometime back. Was that you? Anyway, I currently own both the 178 and 183 RTs. I like the 183 race stock much more as a GS boards go and would like to try something even more stiff.
  3. What? No takers yet? Things are slowing down here on BOL, I guess. Any idea how much siffer than a 183 Renn Tiger race stock? Maybe the 265lbs mentioned is a little too stiff:confused: Regardless, it is getting increasinly more difficult to find stiffer boards---I may be interested. Would like to see some pics when possible. Thanks. GJC
  4. No boarding for the past three weeks:( I'm starting to feel the edge to get back on the hill (possibly Monday and Tuesday of next week. Has anyone recently been, if so how was it?
  5. What a drag! I can speak from experience, because the same thing recently happen to me. I purchased a used board described to be in “good condition”, and by the pictures it looked fine. However, when I opened up the package, the board was well used with thin edges and one of the inserts was cross threaded and partially striped out. The thin edges, scratches, nicks and bruises I could live with, so I took to board to a local machine shop where they were able to re-tap the insert. After several days of hard ridding and checking the threads after each session, it looks like the problem is solved.:) Sounds like bschurman knows what he's talking about, he may even be a nuts and bolts guy--- check out his avatar. Hope your able to get it fixed. Happy carves. GJC
  6. Just got one this season. They are great boards and if there is one that does it all, it's the 4x4. When I was talking with the Dean at Prior he used 4WD (four wheel dirve) and 4x4 (four by four) interchagably--- it's the same; however, I think the name "four wheel drive" is a little corny. ;)
  7. Call in sick for the Indo trip. The snow goes away; you can surf Indo anytime. Like the sessions a MM were any better? Come on Erwin, do I really have to anwser that? I had several hours of untracked Lincoln Mtn on Wed AM with blue bird conditions. Anyway maybe next time I'll have to twist your arm a little more. Lower half of the mountian on Monday would have been just fine--- I know where all the caches are when its really blowing. Were you at Vans last night? My boy was ridding the combi-bowl and asked about you. BTW email me that video of you riding the bowl. My son wants to size up the competition ;) See ya! GJC
  8. James, I just missed you. Left MM Sunday PM after five days of boarding. Was comtemplating staying over two more days, but couldn't convince Erwin or any other riding buddies to come up, so decided to go home with the family. Any more trips planned? Will have at least two more months of decent riding:D before things get too soupy. Happy carves. GJC
  9. Dave hope you enjoy the new ride in Colorado. Also check out the long season at Mammoth and keep in touch if you come further west. GC
  10. Dave, surely you've heard about demoing from Donek. Not sure on the price, but you can demo their boards through the mail, that is if the board you want is available. gdboytyler aka erwin just demoed a free carve 2 and I was suprised at how long he was able to keep the board. Pretty cool program. Check it out.
  11. Tim what happened in Aspen? Did you get laid out by some dude in baggy pants? I'm always up for late season mammoth. Will be going strong through June. The place really starts to come alive with fishing, mountain biking, hot springs and stuff--- I love that time of year. My only regret is that the carvability is only good for several hours a day. Will also be going up the 30th-4th. Let me know if any of you boys are there and I will try to meet up. See ya.
  12. The board is sold, or at leaste very commited. Just waiting for the $$. Thanks.
  13. Yes, if you find your not getting enough hours on the 178, put me 1st on the list as potential buyer. One of my budidies rides a 160-- something and raves about it. The 178s are more difficult to find. Have fun with it.
  14. Prior 4x4---the end all to all your carving woes.
  15. Kirk keep in touch on your Mammoth trip, might be up during that time, if so love to make some turns. Also going to try to make WTC next year, sounds like you guys had fun. And to Mr. gdboy... ada Erwin how could I almost t-bone you when you were behind me? Remember down hill rider has the right of way:D
  16. Absolutly carvable. Mammoth mowed it both days and the grooming was better on Scotty's---for whatever reason Saturday everyone was on Cornice early, so we went to Scotty's and had six runs before too many people were on it. Very fun. Sunday the conditions were the same just more people and I found myself waiting between the droves of people sliding by. Still fun. Not sure how often they goom Scotty's. I am up a Mammoth a fair amount and can't recall the last time I've seen it goomed. Maybe I just missed it.
  17. Gdboytyler your turns in the steeps on Scotty’s were inspiring! And you didn’t run anyone over;) Those 15 or so runs we made on that face rate top three best carving days I've had. Good riding with ya buddy.
  18. Just got one and rode it for the first time last weekend at Mammoth. The 183 is race stock and was not available for sale unless one was part of the Volkl race program, so they say. If you have ever ridden the Volkl 178 Renn Tiger, the 183 is more damp and much more stable at speed. It was easy to make tight radius turns and big old 14 meter arcs (not sure if this is the radius---it felt like it) at mach speeds. Lots of edge holding power= lots of confidence and lots of fun. I want to find another one as backup, since the one I bought has thin edges and is well used.
  19. Sorry guys I have been out of town and then lots to get caught up with at work :( Needless to say I have not been able to check email or get to bomber. I will sort all this out in the next day or so. Thanks GC
  20. Anyone going to be at Mammoth or June this weekend? Maybe if we can round up a few more carvers, I can convince gdboytyler to stay on his edges all day;)
  21. No problem on the board. Sorry say the bindings sold. Enjoy the Rossi.
  22. Come on Davekempguy... ;) Yes the board has the usual topsheet dings, but the base and edges are perfect to near perfect. ONLY $125.00 gets the board shipped to you. I think the 167 has your name on it too, that is if you can get it past Mrs. Dave. :D
  23. Serval takers, but when its time to really commit they either find something else or fade away:( STILL AVAILABLE
