  1. I have a 168 Dynastar 4807. I road this years ago with soft boots on a trip to Big Mtn, MT. I remember it being awesome. But, what powder day isn't? I think I will throw some plates on that board and workout my setup. I just acquired UPZ RC8. I'll plan on keeping the step-in's too.....I'm too old to be bending over! So, the boots and bindings should be set. The new boards a sooooo tempting and soooo many options.... I'm trying to resist!
  2. Thanks.... Is it possible to use hardboots with the Burton channel boards? They are using Burton powder boards now but may have something different next year. I will find out in the fall. My tentative plan for now is to take my ski boots as a carry-on, then I'm sure to have equipment that works. I will mail or pack my board setup too.
  3. I have a really good/fun problem.... I just dropped a load of cash to reserve a spot at Great Canadian Heliski for next Feb!! I am very blessed to live on a ski hill here in the midwest, Granite Peak, WI. I'm out solo or with the family several times a week - walkin/out from our back yard. When I moved here about 12 years ago I switched to entirely hardboot and carving I became obsessed and never really spent much time on skis since. I didn't even bring skis on my regular trips west, never enough powder days to be worth having another board. Since booking this trip, I dusted off the soft setup and bought skis. Several people have suggested that I ski on this helitrip. Here is the problem------ I don't really feel good in soft boots anymore and skiing isn't really tripping it for me either. So....???? For those of you with experience, do I buy a new powder board that will work well with plates and hard boots? Any suggestions?? Do I get better on my skis and use the equipment they will provide? I've been pleased with how well I'm skiing after being away for so long; I'd be ready by next season. Or, bring my soft boots and use the boards they have?? I've been told that a snowboard of any variety (except a split) can be a challenge if you get stuck in a traverse or flat!

I will make it......finally! Have to represent Wisconsin.
  5. I am VERY interested! If you'd tolerate some flat-landers joining you?
  6. Hello I live on Granite Peak. We met last year. UPZ's are my choice too. Tight as hell to begin with, then they fit like very tight slippers - this will be a process in the beginning. I have a couple boards you may be interested in. (I have too many......I think there is a 12-step program I should consider; but, hey this is this first step): - Coiler 188 custom Monster - wide. THis is a EC machine; wide enough for the low angles. In my experience, much more damp and easier to ride than the traditional EC offerings. Don't let the length scare you, I ride in on Granite Peaks most narrow runs - no problem. - I maybe willing to sell my well used Coiler Stubby. 161 length. Does almost everything very well. But, too narrow for the low angle binding settings the EC crowd touts. You could still pull off full tilt lay-out carves with this, though it may not be a pure EC turn. - I have more options too. But, I am a HUGE Coiler fan. I've ridden many others and always come back to Bruce's creations. He's making me a soft boot carver for this season. I hope I jumped inn line soon enough! Get in touch with me, you can try before you buy. My wife will be much happier if I sell a board or two before I buy another!

    200 hazelwood

If that deal falls thru......I want it. I just have to figure out how to sneak it in the house!
  8. Jasey Jay is SOLD! Waiting payment for Swoard
  9. Love these boots! Bought the "Special Edition" UPZ's with new buckle system and stiffer cuffs on preseason sale. I will take the heels off my new boots if you need them. My feet have narrow heels and normal to wide forefoot. The UPZ boots are the ticket for me. It takes awhile to allow the Flo liners to "mold," then super comfortable and no heel slip or shin bang - issues I struggled with for years with other brands. I didn't heat the liners to formally mold them, that may have accelerated the process. I wear a US size 9 or 10 street shoe, thats what's comfortable for my feet. The 26.5 mondo seemed very small, but that's how my foot measured. The boots are very tight and my toes touch at the front, especially until the middle buckles are tight. Once buckled up, I can just wiggle my toes. At the end of a long day my feet feel great. I do unbuckle on occassion to give them a rest, the fit is TIGHT.
  10. BUMP Not sure if these are sold.........flurry of inquiries and commitments, I thought, now fizzled. I will entertain offers. Not willing to separate the J J board from the plate and sell separately.
  11. Good condition - only minor scuffs All Upz accessories as sold new - Flo fit pads and boot wrenches Fintec heels! $300 plus shipping *Sorry for the goofy pics; I can't seem to edit. If you click on them to expand they have the correct orientation. I don't get it.....*
  12. They are gone! Bucky should have them in hand Monday.
  13. You're welcome to join us at Granite. We are out most weekends. I haven't sampled much else in my decade in Wisconsin; if I'm going to travel, I head west for the mountains. Granite Peak has few fans on this forum. I find it adequate and great fun for my family, will have my wife and daughter on a carve setup this year. Please contact me if you plan to travel here and I will do my best to make you welcome!
  14. Jasey Jay Cypress 175 and JJ Plate - Like New $700 plus shipping I bought this board on the forum. I tried but the plate isn't for me.... no feel/ too disconnected. But, a great board for someone else! Top sheet near perfect. Base and edge are great; could be tuned to your desire. Older Swoard 168 with Hard flex. Very good condition. $300 plus shipping Bought from Bomber about 2007. Not sure why I hung onto it for so long, too stiff for me. Top sheet only shows binding mounting and very fine scratches. Base and edge never touched except wax and in near new condition.
  15. Several years old but in good condition. BTS with red and blue springs. Fin Tec heels. Booster straps. Mondo 27 molded once. I have added molds and spacers to liners in an attempt to make these boots fit - all easily removed and remolded. $200 plus shipping
  16. This is the board I've been lusting for........ My Stubby has been my go-to ride. Do you have any interest in a Jasey-Jay Cypress in similar condition? I haven't been able to make the plate work for me. I'm not far from you. I may be able to meet for a test ride
  17. I'll take it, if still available. Send payment info or email me : wjholm at me dot com
  18. Softer flex for a new rider.
  19. My legs stopped hurting when I finally figured out how to carve. I workout all year and have for most of my life. When I started to carve I found my legs burned worse than anything I've ever done. I've followed many posts with suggestions for supplements and workouts that help - nothing mattered. Then at SES several years ago I noticed how many would go all day with little fatigue while I was smoked halfway down the first run. Where all these folks in that much better condition than I? I could carve well, but it took everything I had to pull it off. Over the last couple seasons things have fallen into place, both setup and technique. I can ride all day now with nothing but general fatigue - NO LEG BURN! When your body becomes efficient, your legs will stop hurting. One caveat - with my advancing age, I've really stepped up my core conditioning. This seems to help all activities and sports.
  20. If you are anywhere near Wausau, I'd be happy to help you at Granite Peak. I'm teaching one now. I may even have equipment you can try. $trider - I really have to venture south and ride with the folks at Tyrol!! Almost ten years here in Wausua and I haven't strayed from the local haunt, except pilgrimages west.
