I'll be at Copper tomorrow and Sunday.  Sean was kind enough to loan me a Pulse.  I'm traveling on business so I was not able to bring a board of my own.  Hope to see you guys out there!

I know that I won’t be there but  @b.freeand @Colozeuswill be there at Copper. Hit them up, they are both awesome to ride with! There is a thread about Copper that ktv made.

    @big mario @inkaholic

Any specific place to meet up? I plan on arriving Sunday at 7:30am, putting on my boots indoors and stowing my boot bag somewhere to have extra layers/lenses.

I looked at the webcams, and some of the mountain is shaded most of the day? On a sunny day, is a lighter lens advisable?

Per OpenSnow app, it is going to be gorgeous day for carving. I would plan for dark shade and sun screen. Morning may be shaded on some runs but I bet it will be blue bird day … 🤤

Deeply discounted 4 pak of lift tickets that you can only get before the season really cranks up, good at any time, no black out days

Awesome price/deal but 4-pak must be used before season ends.

I just went through this debacle..

Never mind... I ended up going with therm-ic foot bed unit.  Just used them today and it's the best thing I have ever done for my feet... The unit is very compact unlike hotronic..

Can't justify the cost of a smelly sock you have to wash all the time.. Especially on a trip.. Plus the good Lenz brand is over 300.wtf!!  Yea I'll get a couple of pairs...

But heated toes maybe worth the weight of gold..

Do you have custom footbeds? If so, did you just place the Cambrella insole that comes with on top of the custom insole?

    Hey Mario,

I'll take you up on that. I'd love to ride with the Loveland crew on Sunday, 1/23.

    Hey Yamifumi,

If I ride at Loveland on Sunday, let's ride Tuesday!

@ktv, I got 4 pak so you can use one of my 4 pak if you want…

    Thanks Yamifumi.

Sounds like maybe I'll try A-Basin once during the week, but stick to Copper.

Yes, I'd love to ride with you and other locals before the AFC in Aspen 😀

Awesome 😎 I should be back by 1/23 and ride there (Copper) on Tuesday 1/25.

I'll be staying in Frisco and will be going to Copper and A-Basin on an Ikon pass the week of January 23. I've never been to either.

Is one better on weekends? It looks like from the trail map it'd be Copper, because it looks like the layout spreads people out more?

Which is better for carving trails?

For both, is there an area to put on boots then stow the bootbag free?

Copper is the best out of all IKON resorts for carving. Personally, it is the best of all the resorts in summit (some may beg to differ but IMHO it is.). There are so many runs that is suited.@b.freecan chime in here.

Abasin grooming hasn’t been the best last year. I only been there 2x early season as I always go to Copper. Abasin is limited on the good carving runs.

i go there on Tuesday and Sunday, it would nice to ride with you. There are other like @b.freewho rides at Copper as well.

Ok, Mr Zylon. Wish I could say the same! Just giving you some friendly ribbing, you know I have nothing but respect for you.  Hopefully we can take some turns.  If you got an epic pass hit me up for some Beav

Haha, maybe I am just eating all the instant ramen noodle jk.

same to you as well man, you are one heck of a rider! I do have epic local this yr and I gotta hit beaver soon!

  8. Is SG bindings gives better riding experience than F2? Does it justify the cost difference? All matter of personal opinion.

To me, the cost difference is negligible. I am not paying for >$1k plate system. I like that all are 4mm hex and can carry the L-shape in the binding just in case if binding needs to be adjusted.

To OP, If you are in CO or visiting to CO, I am more than happy to lend you my SG bindings for test ride 😊 I recommend to try as many different binding as possible to see what you like the best.

  9. Hello all,

I have for sale Virus Phantom Zylon that is 180cm in length and 20cm at minimal width. This board is only 1 in a world as it was custom made and has designation “Proto”. The top sheet and base has cosmetic scratches and scrapes (mounting bindings, etc), base and edge has never been tuned. The board was built in Feb 2021.

**Comes with the plate under the bindings

Zylon and Carbon mixture is one of the best board I have ridden and unmatched. Virus does not specify SCR so I do not know exactly but it turns like a board between GS and SL. However, it can turn tighter with pressing on the nose and the tail. Or if you want to have relaxed turns, you can. The board can  do what you want it to do. It cuts through ice, eat up soft bumps, and stick like glue on groomers. Whatever you put into it, it gives back with awesome turns!!

There is no particular reason for sale but I do have 2 more Phantom Zylon that I ride every weekend so I thought to put it up for sale to see if anybody was interested. If you always wanted to try newer Virus, this is your chance.

Here is link to some videos of me riding the board (some days were very icy that you can hear and struggled but the board held up and carves!!):

Looking at Kessler for example, their stock alpine shapes haven't changed for several years because race courses haven't changed.  I do wish they would add a 180-ish freecarver to their stock lineup like my latest custom 180/21/15m.  My favorite board ever.

The three custom Kesslers I've had have been the finest snowboards I've ever tried.  They are even better than their stock boards which are already incredible.  Hansjuerg has some magic going on over there.  I've never tried an Oxess or Virus but I'd say Kessler has perfected the state of the art as far as I can tell.  SG, Oxess, F2 are obviously right there too as evidenced in World Cup.  I think to go beyond what they're doing would require some novel invention not yet conceived.  Maybe the exotic materials in high end Viruses create a better board, I don't know, but they're dearly expensive and not seen much if at all on the World Cup.

That’s a great point. I was all about the race boards (Oxess, Kessler, SG, JJA) as they are proven boards but I felt that their shape lacked interest for me over time. I too wish they had more free carve fun board shape. @b.freeintroduced me to Virus and it has been fun and loving that exotic material, Zylon, Carbon and some magic dust 😆

I am thinking about selling my 180/20cm board and I can be reached through message 🙂
