  1. I just bought two tickets to Rome and a hotel in the middle of the city for a long weekend at the start of January. I told Vanessa that it is her Christmas present and she is begging me to tell her what I bought. She hates that kind of surprise...that's why I did it. Aren't I evil!!!
  2. Were the trees OK??? They don't call him BIG Mario for nothing. I'd hate to be in his way when he's out of control!
  3. Glad to hear you are OK Mario and no more brain damage than usual. See you at SES.
  4. You should see what they were doing with the technology to get them horny in the first place.....
  5. Sean, you know me and you should know that I don't think "CAN" I think "WILL"!!!
  6. Had similar problems in the past and taking the same option as you this time. Besides, if the conditions are so bad that the drive will be hell, chances are that you won't be able to land in Aspen anyway! Which means that you drive, but without the benefits of anything pre-organised.
  7. I have exactly the same issue, but I was planning on only fitting an intec to the rear boot and putting the standard bail on the front of both boards. That way, two boards, same setup.
  8. Looking forward to hooking some turns with you guys again. This time I am bringing my other half though. Last year you promised to ride with her a couple of runs if I would bring her along so you better keep your promises!!! :p
  9. www.podmx.com It's designed for motocross but works fantastically for carving. I also have a mate who raved about them when he used them for tele.
  10. I'm in, and this year I am actually bringing the other half. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.... BTW, I was a newbie 3 years ago and it was the best thing I have done in years. This year will be session #4!
  11. I can tell you that it's definately happening. Michelle is just trying to tie up some loose ends to finalise the pricing. I wouldn't wait too long to book your transport though (esp flights) because it is President's Day weekend so you won't get a flight at short notice.
  12. I can't wait either. Between that and the Moritz (not to mention the riding each day), I doubt there is a better week in the year. But back OT, I actually enjoy going to SES and checking out all the gear, seeing what is similar and what is different. And what I love is that Bruce and Sean and Frank and Alex and Chris (and sorry if I missed any mfr's) are all there and chat about what they are doing, which only makes the sport better. Who cares who came up with an idea and who copied it, changed it, improved it or f****d it up! If it works for you, ride it!!!
  13. HARDBOOTER....The first company to use (and abuse) Billy Bordy!
  14. Well I look like a fool at the best of times (just ask my friends), but the bigger issue with that suggestion is that I only have hard boots over here. My softies are stashed away in a very full shipping container on my parent's farm back home.
  15. I agree with your comments regarding Vail. Although the resort is huge, it takes so long to get to anywhere away from the crowds that you lose half your day doing just that. Beaver was great groomers when I was there, although I admit that was before I got into riding plates. I also really enjoyed Big White, but that was pre-plates too and I get the feeling that many of the runs could be too narrow for good carving. I would steer clear of Whister for the same reasons as for Vail. IMHO Aspen is the place. Can't comment on Europe yet, but I have a few days in Courmayer (Italy) in Jan/Feb, the week before SES, and planning some time in France or Austria probably in March. And if you want a riding buddy in France, drop me a line. Any excuse to escape a London winter.
  16. Break the record???? This thread IS the RECORD!!!
  17. Actually it is being run in Italy. I'm living and working in London at the moment. But they do occasionally set up some gates in Oz, but it's not a regular thing, because neither is the snow!!!
  18. You know I think it should be compulsory to have a "retro day" at every organised Session!
  19. Alex, the concept is a great idea. And the more people who get into carving, be it in hard or soft boots, the better. Are you coming to SES again this year? If so, I'd love to try one out.
  20. I have managed to get myself onto a work snowboard team for an industry race weekend (pretty cool when work gives us days off and cash to go riding for 5 days). I've never even run a set of gates before, let alone raced, and while I am likely to be the only guy riding plates (apparently it gets pretty competitive in the skiing races but the boarding is still mostly jibbers trying to go fast on their soft gear while scoring a weekend on the booze courtesy of their respective firms) I don't want to make a complete idiot out of myself. Indeed, if I am the only guy riding a hard set up, if I don't win, I'm really going to look like a fool to everyone else! So, my question is, if you could narrow it down, what is THE most important thing to do or concentrate on to be sure of getting down the course well?
  21. Actually the fries and vanilla coke are some things to stay away from if you want to keep things running smoothly, because too much of them and you will blow out and become less attractive than the woman he originally met.... ONLY JOKING (Please nobody flame me for that sarcastic and cynical suggestion.) The key is to be more tollerant than you might otherwise be as a single person. You don't have to "change" but you do have to adapt to considering the feelings and opinions of another person other than yourself. Just knowing that there will be speedbumps along the way is a great start, which means that you will be more prepared for when they do occur. Thinking it is going to be all roses is setting yourself up for disappointment and setting your relationship up for failure from the start. Three key words: Tollerant Considerate Realistic Did somebody say "Dr. Dan"????
  22. Yes, Happy Birthday Michelle. Consider my phone call on Wednesday to be your present, because I know how much you love the sound of my voice (or at least the accent).
  23. Bob, part of me is saying "no, don't ask it, just leave it be" while the other half is screaming.... "WTF!!! How? What were you doing? And most importantly, WHY???" The other half won.
  24. OK, one down. Anyone have any idea how many unanswered questions remain from this particular thread? Come on, we are on a roll here... Would you like fries with that???
  25. Hear hear In fact Aisling, you know what ??? You just answered your own original question!!!
