Well I got married last March and we basically moved straight overseas. Just working over here, doing valuations of international property - fun, and a good opportunity to travel, but hard work and long hours - and a bit of travel while we are still young enough and kid free. And yes, I admit that I was a skeptic but I'm not a fully fledged convert. I do still have the soft gear but I haven't used it for nearly 2 years now. I have 4 hard boot boards instead and have also moanaged to convince Vanessa that it's fun too.

I used to do a bit of these...but now I am in London, I just seem to work:confused:, get fed up with the tube:smashfrea and drink beer:biggthump!

Hey Mozz, Hope things are on the up with your wife. I've managed to do the last 4 sessions and haven't looked back since starting carving in '05. John, thank you. Great post (certainly not "noise"). I haven't carved for very many years, but the two times I have met Bordy, he has been nothing but encouraging and helpful. He's not the only one (99% of carvers I have met have been the same) but since he is the topic of this debate, I'll focus my appreciation of him as someone who certainly knows more than me, but is happy to stop and chat and give some advice - which always seemed to be spot on. Vanessa and I are just arguing whether the top one is a couple of our mates. I am pretty certain that the voices in the background belong to a couple of our good friends, the location looks very familiar and so does the t-shirt the rider is wearing. Who would have thought...

I know it has been a hot political issue in the US in the past, but has anyone actually been to Libya since all the sanctions were lifted? I'm going tomorrow for work but just wonder what other people's reactions were - or opinions are, if you have not been.

I read the book a while ago and always thought it would make a good movie. Amazing tale, all the more because it's true.

Well, yes I am hoping that the British government is going to contribute to my overall financial position by not taxing me to the fullest extent, but that will just pay off some of my home loan (esp since Aust interest rates bumped up over 9% this month). And I can't even rely on work to send me there since the only trips on the agenda at the moment are Russia and Libya (certainly no snow there).

Yep, still in Europe for the forseeable future. I think we are going to be in Amsterdam that weekend, but will check and if it is possible we might try to come out for the session.

I'm sorry you didn't get to really break out the Prior. I think that, unfortunately, my riding is done for the year. I don't think I will be able to get over to the continent with all my work commitments, but then again, with no snow, it's not quite so bad. So it's a matter of saving for a trip to Austria between Christmas and NY, then to SES again (it was so much fun that my wife is even hooked!) Make sure you do it!

That was SO amazingly awesome. Great tunes to go with the footage too. This one will keep me stoked for next year.

Hey Alan, Glad to hear you are OK. It was actually two random people hiking up the face who got to you first. I was the guy who took the board off your feet and Bob took it down the hill for you. There were also quite a few others who stopped to make sure you were going to be alright, but I can't recall exactly who they were. Hope it all heals well and that we will see you at the session next year. Cheers Dan P.S. Carvers being carvers, they tend to look out for each other, but don't offer to buy anyone a beer for it, otherwise you will have the entire session attendee list claiming to have stopped!

There is a great laugh of a book out there called "The Game" by Neil Strauss. It's all about the secret society of pick up artists. My brother bought it when he was visiting and we caught him actually taking notes...but I read it and it's pretty funny. Still, some of the lines and concepts actually work, and they would probably work just as well for girls as for guys.
