  1. Welcome to BOL! You may want to join the low volume mailing list for us folks around here: Mid-Atlantic Carvers (MAC). There's a race team at Round Top and you can usually find a hardbooter or two first thing in the morning on weekends at Whitetail... Bummer you can't make ECES this year - it's gonna be a blast!
  2. No, not specifically. He molded my liners, punched out the toes to solve a toe bruise issue, and tweaked the shells - can't remember exactly what he did (the mind is a terrible thing to waste, if you ever had one...)
  3. Two different guys: Brian Eardley at the Ski Center in DC - did a great job of molding my liners on two different sets of boots along with some tweaks to solve some toe bruising; and Brian Deely of Pro-Fit Ski & Boot (used to be Pro-Fit Ski & Skate) in Leesburg, VA - I've heard good reports of Brian Deely's work, but have no direct experience with him...
  4. Never been impressed with the Ski Chalet folks - good prices at the summer warehouse sale, but that's about it. Brian probably won't remember me, but he might remember my boots - just tell him a hardbooter sent you ;)
  5. Mica, I see you're local to DC: I highly recommend going to see Brian Eardley at the Ski Center (202) 966-4474 http://www.skicenter.com/ Brian is a really good boot fitter (almost as good as Erik). Make sure you call ahead and make an appointment with Brian - and when you get there, don't let them slough you off on someone else...
  6. Correct for 50 points! That's Kimi Räikkönen - Formula One driver...
  7. (+1) for the Ski Center... Brian Eardley is an excellent bootfitter, just make sure to call and make an appointment with him ahead of time as he's quite popular.

  9. That's the problem, I haven't bought her any pearls lately... add in the offspring starting university next year (probably Dalhousie, but maybe Sherbrooke or Guelph) and that equates to not a good idea
  10. Loaf! Loaf! Loaf! Fabulous mountain, no crowds, and don't forget the Bag Burgers! 12.5 hour drive for me and worth every boring minute... Thank goodness for Books On Tape (well CD actually)!
  11. I said "no/don't care" 'cause if I even think of buying another board, my wife will remove portions of my anatomy which I'd rather not do without...
  12. Geesh, is it time for the ECES yet? Can you say jonesing for some turns? Sorry, too much time between turns...
  13. Hi Lisa, Great post - thanks for setting the Wayback Machine for me! +2 -- yep, great time and super for taking your riding up a notch or 12 or something! And, yes this is one deranged crew Just too much freaking fun!!!
  14. Watch out, he'll be showing up his old man in no time! Then you'll blink and he'll be asking for the car keys:lol: Says the guy who's daughter came up to his knees seems like last week and now looks him in the eye... Congrats! BTW - start saving for university NOW!
  15. Kewel photo of new jet in the Vancouver Sun
  16. Can't wait to hear what Captain Morgan has to say about that wench! Carve on!
  17. Thanks Jack for dragging that one out of the ECES rubbish bin... Let's see: a couple of Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPAs, a Stella, and a couple o' Sam Addams -- it WAS a good day! Not sure why I was noshing on the Special-K
  18. Nope, not me -- I was prepping for my trip to Maine last Friday... Most excellent visit so far! Don't know about tomorrow as it's going below zero with like 20-30 MPH winds. Then for my last day on Thursday, it's not supposed to get above like -10. Right now it's howling like a banshee outside and I'm sure we'll have wind delays on the lifts tomorrow (sigh) BTW, my new Coiler is SWEET!!!
  19. Yep, OT: Won't happen. The American consumer is wedded to the what I call the "Triple C Ranch" - Cheap Chinese Crap. People just LOVE Walmart, cause of the "low, low, prices" -- why low? It's all made in PRC. You just can't compete with the labor differential...
  20. Sorry I can't help there, I'm still catching my breath after hurting myself laughing!!! Plus, I'm in complete agreement with the accolades for Dr. Varsava. And to totally date myself: Little old lady says to Burton and company, "Where's the Bruce????" Sorry, couldn't resist an inane attempt at humour....
  21. I am most impressed with the designs of these beauties. The steel pins used to replace the plastic tabs on the original Intecs is fabulous - you want the load on the tabs-now-pins rather than the pins that lock into the heel receiver, so this is just super. The heel pad actually slides into the heal assembly and then is held down with no less that 4 screws. Beefy aluminum, super slick slide action on the engagement pins -- just fabulous!
  22. All Mountain 172 with 10.5 sidecut and 25/20/25 for nose/waist/tail...
  23. I always lock my board with fairly beefy cable lock. Someone with some bolt cutters could clip it, but they'd be there for a while with wire cutters. As others have pointed out, it's just a deterrent - if someone really wants it, the lock won't stop them. I usually don't use the ski/board check with their gorilla attendants (cue the Samsonite commercial)...
  24. Gleb, you changed your avatar? I loved the Fluff!
