  5. Sugarloaf is going to blow your mind! Definately hook up with Erik Beckman. Since you're staying on mountain, you'll get an "Activity Card" that entitles you to a free "Perfect Turns" group lesson each day - which usally ends up as a one-on-one with Erik :) If you're staying in the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel, there's a full size tuning bench in the ski locker area complete with power for irons and such. I've only stayed at the hotel, so I don't know the layout at the Sugarloaf Inn. If you're at the hotel (and not the Sugarloaf Inn), then the ski lockers are on the ground floor to the extreme right while facing the front door. There are lockers both outside (called the Fridge) and inside where the tuning bench is located. As Geoff noted, there are lockers in the main lodge, but you can just stash your stuff in a cubby, on top of the lockers, on under a table... Oh, and make sure you hit "The Bag" for a Bag Burger and a brew!
  6. As they say in small sailboat racing: if you don't turn over, you're not really trying!

    Snow Days

So, here in the Washington, DC area the local schools are closed after about 1/2 inch of snow - with the threat of another whole 4 inches tonight. No milk, bread, or toilet paper to be found! The end of the world!! We're going to die!!! Contrast that with Université de Sherbrooke in Quebec where my offspring is in her first year: "This is to notify you that even in the most severe cases of snow, hail and winds, the doors will always open to welcome students so that there is no interruption of their learning. Take note that THE UNIVERSITY WILL NEVER, BUT NEVER CLOSE. Thank you."
  8. +1 on custom footbeds and boot fitting from Erik
  9. FWIW - a couple of years ago I inquired about replacement liners via Head's website and a rep from Baltimore emailed saying they didn't have replacement parts BUT they would replace the entire pair for me?!?!? Which, in fact, they did even though I was the one that fubar'd the liners. Send me an email if you want me to dig up the reps contact info.
  10. Here's hoping for more than just a few!
  11. Great video and tunes! Thanks much for the grins!!! 55 and still craving the carve - now if my legs would just last longer
  12. FYI: There a low-volume mailing list for riders in the mid-Atlantic here. Also, see if you can make it to MAC Tracks later this month on the 21st...
  13. So cool that MAC Tracks is back!!! Thanks to Phil and the hardbooting "events coordinator"... Sweet - a discount on the lift tickets! Yep, the hotel on the mountain is quite nice. I little bit pricey, but it's nice to be pampered once in a while :)
  14. Most excellent idea - I'll be sure to bring my pattes next session!
  15. Who be that on Stratton's website? Shaggy? http://www.stratton.com/index.htm
  16. I started with "No Gomers" which provide the best protection IMHO - they strap on outside your glove and protect both your wrist and thumb. The downside is that they act like snowplows and snow/ice can really build up under your palm. I now ride with "Flexmeter" guards and really like them. They fit under your gloves, so like the wrist/slash guards, you'll need a size larger glove... BTW - gomer is doctor speak for Get Out of My Emergency Room
  17. That be sweet, eh! Them thar Canadians - always up to something!!!
  18. Cool idea... nice "value engineering"! Or use a easy alternative: Stuff your liners with crumpled up newspaper overnight. Newspaper is very hygroscopic and will suck the moisture out of your liners. Next morning, pull out the newspaper, toss in the recycle bin, and head out the door... GeoffV turned me on this trick - no noise or chance of fubar'ing your liners!
  19. Posting in the Carving Community forum to get maximum eyeballs... East Coast Expression Session 2010 is just 6 weeks away!!! We've got over 50 folks signed up, but Geoff tells me less than 30 have signed up for the banquet??? Get those cards and letters, no, wait -- Please to be signing up for the banquet so that we can be having a banquet... If you don't know about the ECES, go here to find out more. Then, when your stoked about attending, add your self to the "Who's Coming?" list and sign up for the banquet here. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program...
  20. Yep, I pass out those cards any chance I get saying "come over to the dark side, we have cookies" - can't remember who had that as their signature, but I always loved it!
