  1. I don't know how many of you are motorcycle riders- but I think it's wise to use the same applied anticipatory-type thinking on the hill as we do on bikes. If i'm above and someone is skiing/boarding erratically, you can never assume what they're gonna do so must always anticipate your own moves and/or "exit" plan. Target-fixation (as someone mentioned above) is a real thing, and I think many collisions occur because of it as well.
  2. I'll be in Aspen 2/9 - 2/13 for a quick trip...only riding Sat (10th) thru Monday if anything is happening then?

  4. I ride snowboards goofy, but bike with my left foot forward. In hockey- I "slide" with my right foot forward...but when I used to race jet-skis (standup type) I rode with my left foot forward. You'd be surprised how much the jetski riding mimics carving in body positioning! Clearly i'm all over the board on this one...so i'd have to say that the "sport" plays a very small factor in positioning...more in how you happened to learn & how comfortable you are.
  5. I got lucky and found a used Palmer Crown BX board... it's hands down the best i've ever ridden for me- this includes Burton T6's, Method's, Nideck's ,ect.
  6. Thanks for the heads-up Ian! If i do this- looks like driving up would probably make the most sense...i like to stay self-sufficient for the most part- and i like having to deal with airports & gear to a minimum..unless it involves thousands of miles of travel! I'll be looking forward to seeing what people on here are able to find out for all of us & seeing how this develops. I know that this is not and not meant to compete with the ECES in any way (i've been to one a few years ago, and it was great)- but it's nice to have something to go with some carvers to learn from relatively close without having to wait every OTHER year for it to come around at Stratton. There's still an outside chance for me to make Aspen work...or i may try Utah- but i have a lot of business stuff happening now that might require my attention during those time frames.
  7. Most def will! Although i'm originally from Maine- i've never been to any of those mountains. When are the dates you're thinking? feel free to reach out to me @ drummr25@aol.com -billy
  8. Hi all... i just logged on for the 1st time this year & found this thread! I have 2 complete setups for both hardboots & soft... but am always looking to do more hard since none of my friends do. Last year, i picked up a new (to me) Prior with some sweet TD-3's...can't wait to put them to use! I normally go out to Colorado every year in the beginning of Feb- but that trip might not happen due to circumsances beyond my control. I won't be sure for another month or so- so i'm hesitant to commit to anything else right now. I realize that your spots are filling up fast & probably won't be available by the time i make a decision... so here are my questions for people familiar with this resort. Living in the Washington DC area- i'm on the fence about flying close and renting a car, or just driving my Jeep from here. Closest airport? Will i NEED a vehicle there? Lastly, if i straggle by myself..do you think i can find reasonable accomodations? I'm guessing there is nothing set up with the resort for this little party you're having...but i know that in the past at Stratton, we all got a great lodging/ticket deal at the Stratton Inn. Just thought i'd check. Also- if there's anyone else out there who's on the fence like me (i should know in a month or so) and are interested in sharing a room or whatever (depending on cost)- i'll probably be down.
  9. Might be interested in these for my BX setup if the first guy falls through. If i make it up to Vt- it would be most likely Thurs + Friday. You gonna be there then?
  10. Sorry for the late response- the board is sold.
  11. Wow- our trip was amazing...thanks everyone here for your help/guidance! Dave- sorry we never had the chance to hook up & ride...my service was "spotty" at best in Steamboat where we stayed. As icy as it was last week, i felt more comfortable in my softie setup with my BX board. Being sucha newb in hardboots...i'm sure i would have only slowed you down. I did get out all day (last Tues i think) on the new Prior- and it felt great! But my friends wanted to tear it up in the woods, ect...so the soft set-up had to come back out. We made the drive from Steamboat to Aspen in about 4hrs- maybe a bit less. Angie- thanks for the info about St. Moritz...that's where we stayed. Very nice little room with a kitchen, and the place was staffed with super-nice people that even offered complimentary rum & cider in the lobby! We walked everywhere we needed to get to at night, and the mountains were a short free shuttle-ride away. Couldn't ask for more. Already recieved an email offering 10% off on my next visit- i think i'll have to do that! I was plesently surprised to find a "Bomber" tent at the bottom of one of the lifts at Buttermilk on Saterday! It was late in the day, and i chatted with some nice people (including Fin). I've decided to work even harder this year to make it to the ECES at Stratton at the end of the month. Unfortunately, i was only on my soft setup that day- but i enjoyed watching you guys lay down some trenches! Thanks again for everyone's input...looking forward to Colorado again already next year!
  12. MacSkiddin...sent you an email..
  13. Your guess is as good as mine...they were like that when i got them (along with the Volkl 163) a few yrs ago here on BOL. I know they came from Ca...but i forgot the gentleman's name.
  14. MacSkiddin- got your PM. I'll check for you tonight- and will take more pics too. You're first in line if you want 'em.
