  1. Regarding a release extension: the Burton stepons have a similar issue but their lever is a pull. It’s pretty straightforward to extend it.
  2. I’ve been getting marketing emails from them lately. Any progress on your order?
  3. That pic is from 2 years ago, I don't think they had the Storm Wolf in production yet. I thought it was pretty widely known that Jones is an ex racer. Semi-related side track - I follow Juliette Pelchat on Instagram as she's an up and coming Canadian rider and it wasn't until she wished her dad a happy birthday that I made the connection - he's JF Pelchat, he of the clanking brass balls and founder of Now bindings. No wonder she rips.
  4. I think in Jones the women's Hovercraft would be an even better choice, it's supposedly a better carver than the Flagship.
  5. He's on a Storm Wolf there, they don't come that small. 154, 158, 162. The Storm Chaser comes in a 147 but I'm not sure that one could hold up to the lines he's drawing in that video, it's a pure powder deck.
  6. Yeah, but to be fair Jones could probably set up his stance pigeon-toed and still spank us all, so there's that.
  7. I had the same opinion on hoods and ended up buying a hooded jacket simply because at the time I could not find any jackets without hoods or with removable ones. But I haven't found the hood on my Arc'teryx shell to be much in the way, much to my surprise. It has however come in very handy on cold chairlift rides as it is big enough to fit nicely over my helmet. When the wind is howling and it is -20C or worse, that hood makes the difference between riding the chair one more time or saying "f it, time to hit the lodge".
  8. I couldn’t compare it to Driver X as I’ve never ridden those. I switched to hard boots in 1989. My first softie setup in 30 years was Ion/Genesis X. Then I switched to Ion/Step On X. The step ons are definitely a more direct and positive connection than the Genesis X were. They work well for me for all conditions. I like them better than my hard boots in bumps or choppy snow conditions, especially if the light is bad. The extra flex and feel in the system makes it easier to adjust and stay right side up. Of course they don’t carve as well but part of that is me still getting used to softies and low angles.
  9. So kind of the guy to knock an entire 17% off for used bindings...
  10. All the old usenet groups are unusable now. They were getting pretty bad even when they were popular. It's a shock anyone is still trying to use them.
  11. Here’s a thread with both me and Jack in it. I used to moderate rec.martial-arts.moderated.
  12. When I bought mine it in 1984 it was 5 but informally 20. Later they made it official.
  13. Well, there's "far from perfect" which describes pretty much everybody, and then there's setting the bar so low that it requires digging to get under it.
  14. Still here (since 2003), still riding (since 1989) although not this year due to upcoming surgery.
  15. When I was younger, lift time always exceeded riding time.
  16. Just reread it for the 3rd time. Don’t do that with too many books.
  17. Eh. The guy was a giant dick, I’m not shedding too many tears
  18. Missed that earlier, very cool Corey. I take it you didn't want the rear tires to break loose there near the end. The video makes it seem like you're going pretty quick, how fast do you get going on a course like that?
  19. Here's a very cool band that some of you old punks might like. They're called Dry Cleaning.
  20. My favourite bluegrass player, Sierra Hull, has been touring with the Wongnotes lately. Who knew I needed funk mandolin in my life?
  21. Pretty much the same, just as vague. If it’s backed up as we read the intent, great. If it’s not as a consumer you don’t have much to stand on. Brings to mind Bryston amps which used to have a 5 year warranty, but they would warranty anything under 20 years old if it was the product’s fault. That’s what I’d prefer to see: guaranteed warranty under X years, and after that the vague language applies.
  22. If an actual lifetime warranty is not possible, then put some time limits on it. But a vague, hand-wavy, "we'll warranty it if we say so" deal doesn't appeal. I ordered one of the FA shells a long time ago. The fit wasn't for me, plus the hood wasn't big enough to fit over a helmet, so I sent it back to Freddy. I expect he's got that sort of stuff ironed out by now but in the meanwhile I bought an Arc'teryx shell that I am super happy with.
  23. Quick glance at their website shows they are still selling MEC branded school bags and the like, can't be arsed to look further. I have a small backpack from them that must be at least 20 years old, still going strong.
  24. How on earth do you call our winters "short", Corey? Around these parts snow settles in for the winter as early as Hallowe'en and usually by mid-November and we don't get the real thaw until late March, sometimes into April.
