C5 Golfer

Corey-- the tires may be a wash-- I got quite a few miles out of mine which are the Factory Run Flats by Goodyear..43,000 miles - but the new ones cost around $350 each last year when I replaced them. Other Vette owners have gotten only 15,000 miles..Same guys also replace brake discs after 15,000 miles or so too. Mine are still ok after 46,000. They may have speeding tickets too -- I do not :)

My old C5 still gets the nod when the sun is out. what is your ride this summer?

Look around for a used Volkl 178 - at your size which is very similar to me .. the 178 is a fun loving ride at less $$ than a new metal. ride a bunch of them and then decide to invest in Big Bucks.

Just heard the City Council and or the Mayor is tring to ban bicycles downtown when the streets are icy or it is snowing.

This thread is amazing. It gets me excited to go ride today but then I read on and I am afraid to get out of bed for fear of injury. I gotta go find a coin and flip it.. let it make a decision for me. Thanks for all the info here.

My GF used to wear her Boeri helmet when I drove my car-- with the top down... We'd sure get some odd looks.

My GF and I will be there -- usually Blackcomb..:)

Jack -- I understand decambering the nose -- but how about the tail? Should that be decambered also? Looks like it needs it.

My 3 cents. I personally would not opt for a Volkl SL -- go with the GS models.. 168 , 173 or 178. All good stuff. Bob Dea - have not talked with you for a while but I am curious as to what is so weak about a Volkl in your ever so lovely opiinion..:rolleyes:

Just returned from Whistler -- thought I'd share what the new gondola looks like. 3 cables - two @ 56 mm Dia and one at 46 mm Dia is all that holding you away from being one gigantic bungy cord. Notice no towers except at the top of each mountain.

I just got a report form a couple of skiers there today.. lots of rock and bare ground... I may rethink going.. It sucks right now.

More Photos Photo is taken from the top of Seventh Heaven -- You can see the Whistler Runs -- well half of them since the other half is down the other side of the mountain. Peak to Creek Run if you go to Whistler one of the days... is a must. I bet you can't do it with out stopping to rest the legs. it is 5280 Ft of vertical drop with about a 2 1/2 mile long non stop run. The other photo shows the Solar Coaster Chair lift on BlackComb.

I also vote for you stop into Prior's factory in whistler -- demo one of his 4X4 or a WCR -- I also vote for something longer.. the shortest I ride at Blackcomb/ and or Whistler is a 178 Volkl. This is a big ass mountain with long thigh tiring terrain. One of the best runs is Start at the top of Blackcomb 7th Heaven, head down into the glacier and head right to Ridge Runner - ride Ridge Runner as fast as you can. you will be tired at the bottom - it will now take you 3 chair lifts to get back up top.

My son has survived two layoffs in the last 6 months, but another is in the near future. My daughter was laid off a week before Christmas. I would hate to be looking for a job right now -- can you imagine - a 62 yr old guy asking for work in engineering right now? Not chance in hell I would have - companies do not like older than 50 in tough times. These are tough times - and getting worse. I hate see what summer will bring for some of our Americans.

I agree -- I did the same it made a great difference.. I ride the 178 that has the Orange Tiger. great board!~!! Between that and my Prior 179 4X4 -- I am a happy red wine and red Corvette Lover.

Whistler site shows the 7th Heaven and the bowls not open -- anyvody know why all these great areas are not open yet? Will be going there the 23rd of Jan and hoping the whole mountain will be open. Any reports or info from recent Whistler/Blackcomb vistors would be appreciated.

I went to Crystal yesterday -- got very wet. Too bad such terrific snow was wasted away today. I do not think I will be there Monday -- it may take a few good snow falls to fix Crystal. It will be pure ice all next week
