1. I've copied this thread to the Racing/Coaching forum here: http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31747 I thought it might be good to get answers in both places.
2. These grand theories are great and of course correct, but it sounds to me like they would require an extended period of time spent coaching a student in order to accomplish changes in technique and proficiency, i.e., a week-long vacation or a season-long program. What are you supposed to do during a 1 or 2 hour lesson where you and/or the student does not know if there will be further opportunities for instruction?

7. Sweet graphics on that board! Paging Mr. Karol, Mr. Chris Karol...
8. No doubt, you've got the url wrong. But nevermind them, use Donek. Sean did my last topsheet, it's perfect.
9. If you're an expert carver in search of a trip down memory lane, this will be a pretty fun board. Heck I'd like to try it just to remind myself of what asyms were like. However if you are a novice or progressing carver, there is no point in learning on such drastically niche equipment. You'd learn to carve on it a certain way, and then when you decided it was time to upgrade, you'd have to unlearn a good deal of technique and learn how to ride a normal board, unless you got another asym. The only way to get new asyms these days are to get a full custom, or import one from the scant few manufacturers in Europe that still make them over there.
10. "not that there's anything wrong with that!"

12. Well, I meant "the thing that your feet are attached to no longer bends".
13. It's going to be hard to adhere to EC doctrine when your board no longer bends.
14. I can't believe you are not considering the possibility of your potential slope torpedo taking out someone else... or someone else's kid.
15. And you could take a ride on my Bomber ------ Plate. (name to be revealed soon!) :D
16. Good luck DIY'ers, and I mean that sincerely. Bruce Varsava was telling me at the ECES that a bunch of his fellow provincial racers were home-brewing Apex knock-off plates by cutting up old snowboards, and that most of them were having a lot of trouble. I guess many were too flexible, and had improper axle placement. The action of the plate and the board would actually combine to a detrimental result, worse than having no plate at all. I look forward to hearing from you guys this winter!
17. what Jim said, and, you only live once and you can't take it with you!
18. Are you sure that's correct? I'd have to draw some diagrams, but I'm not sure it is. Edit - nevermind. Back foot example... maybe with the axle under your arch you can push down with your toes and pull up with your heel, and when the axle is under your heel you can only push down with your toes and that isn't as effective at bending the plate due to boot flex or whatever.
19. The shape of the sidecut will have no bearing on its handling in soft snow. The depth of the sidecut will. Shallower sidecut depths are easier to skid and push around. And waist width is a big factor. My 21cm waist Stubby does surprisingly well as an all-mtn board. It only seems to be limited in untracked powder, where it will submarine if you're not careful. I rode it after an 18" storm and it was a blast.
