  1. Thanks SBS. Coming over a rise!
  2. 20". I'm 5'11" with a 32" inseam. If you use toe lift on the front foot and heel lift on the back foot, you can comfortably go a few inches wider than shoulder width for better balance and stability.
  3. So, Sugarloaf put this on their facebook page, and someone commented "Kinda make me want to go out and get a hard boot board." Then some jerkwad, a.k.a. Michael Olsak wrote "Nothing should ever make anyone want to get a hard boot board. Ski or ride make your choice and stick to it. :)" Unreal!
  4. Temps were pretty mild this weekend, but yeah, the Kincos don't work so well with wet snow. I need to re-apply the sno-seal.
  5. Finally made it onto Sugarloaf's webpage...
  6. Wild photo of that trailer! Hope everyone was ok. Sweet RC51. Here is my old girl, sold in fall 2010 because the Dad thing finally got to me. I'll get another bike after the kids' college is paid for.
  7. Isn't it obvious we don't moderate this thread AT ALL?? GFAG and like it! Now after you've fooled around long enough on Flume and Walking Boss, step up to the Maine mountain and help me cover the Banked Slalom podium with Deeluxe plastic!! NSFW: ;)
  8. Got a new one last weekend - "Are you guys skiers or snowboarders?" !
  9. Just curious, is that my old board?
  10. Welcome! There are some articles to help you get started in the links in my signature. Good luck!
  11. Agreed. I have to wonder if he was wearing his helmet in the stylish new-school fashion - too loose if buckled at all, perched atop a knit hat, and tilted back to allow for goggle placement on the forehead.
  12. Do these boots defy gravity? If so I may be interested.

  14. 26-32" since Sunday... So rare in December in the east, so when we got it, we gotta flaunt it!! (pics from Sugarloaf website and fb page)
  15. This will probably lead to bending over or leaning in too much. Think about touching your hip to the snow, and keeping your shoulder away from the snow. If you're talking about the Russian EC tutorial video, I could not disagree more with that video. I think it's bad advice all around - whether your style is EC or not.
  16. Oh yeah, forget about it. I tried this many years ago and had the same results. Four years to get decent at it sounds about right. The funny thing is I (right foot forward) can ride fakie ok, and I can actually have fun on softies with a neutral stance switching back and forth. But if I try an actual forward facing left-foot-forward stance (even just 36/24) it all goes to hell. In hardboots it's even worse.
  17. The eyes lead the way. Nothing helps a heelside more than looking over your shoulder into the turn before you make the turn. Pulling your rear hand forward is a good quick fix to get a novice or intermediate carver out of the habit of "sitting on the toilet" on heelside, but once a certain level of mastery is achieved, the hands can relax, and you don't have to twist towards the nose. Just face your binding angles. The problem is most novices/intermediates think they are facing their binding angles but really they are facing the toeside edge.
  18. I don't have the same issues as you, but these are good: http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/Thermo-Flex-Liners-DCL-131_p_90.html
  19. Here's some reading on this: http://www.bomberonline.com/resources/Techarticles/cant_lift.html
  20. I started using them halfway through last season, and I'm still on my first pair. Add some sno-seal and you're good to go except maybe in rain or really wet snow. At $12 a pair you're still ahead if you go through 5 or 6 in a season.
  21. Nothing could be better for Bomber, Donek, Prior, Coiler than Burton re-entering the market. It would help get more people into the sport, and then once they get good enough they will start looking for the boutique products. I'd be surprised if Burton did get back in though. Burton fought for alpine from day one and continued fighting pretty long after it was uncool. They kicked alpine to the curb and pretended to hate on it when they figured it was actually hurting their image. They could have been nicer about it, but I guess I don't blame them. I'm a big fan of Burton for the fact that a snowboarder started a snowboard company and made it the biggest, most successful snowboard company in the world. The 2nd and 3rd biggest snowboard companies are ski companies. It just wouldn't be right if a ski company was #1. When you're not wearing or holding your snowboard, nothing says "I am a snowboarder" to the world better than wearing a piece of Burton clothing.
