  1. I broke my Lateral Malleolus 18 months ago....do your PT....get on a bike when the weather gets good and do a lot of miles because after surgery your muscle endurance will be gone. After a complete failure at making a comeback last season I chose to sit this season out and continue rehab the thing I have noticed since the weather got to too bad for me to ride is how much more pain I have in my ankle, especially when the weather is wet
  2. if anyone in southern New England is interested the first Wheeelabrator event of the year is being held on the first full day of spring, Sunday March 21st. what might you ask is a "wheelabrator event"????? Well a Wheelabrator event is a gathering of like minded souls for the purpose of skateboarding and having fun. There are 3 distinct hills the main hill which is a 30-35mph (max) 2 lane fairly straight forward hill, it's a good place to practice your tuck, it's 8/10th of a mile long and rewards a good tuck, it's also fun to draftrain. The Bikepath is just that 1/3rd of a mile winding through the trees you can make 30mph on it though the last 2 turns can be scary at that speed. Then there is the slide hill which has a right and a left turn. Wide enough to slide softwheel or tech. Some really good sessions have happened at wheelabrator and as a location it deals with crowds very well which isn't always true of skate spots. I'm really looking forward to spending the day on the bike path just carving the day away.

    Question

    someone LOCK this thread please
  4. I usually put about 5lbs on over the winter I gained nearly 50lbs when I broke my ankle in September of 08.....it took me about 16 months to take it all off. I still haven't recovered enough to feel comfortable on snow
  5. New School Race though you are right with all of the boards Bruce is building these days not being in his catalog it would be smart of anyone selling a newer Coiler to list all the specs
  6. I seem to remember that Super G went away because it was a race dominated by americans and the FIS didn't like that....Kinda sad....it would be cool to see guys (and gals) hurling themselves down a mountain +200cm boards
  7. As I understand it the ever famous "downhill rider has the right of way" applies but the important thing to remember is, it's called "Boarder CROSS...like motocross block passes, riding defensively and all manner of aggressive riding is part and parcel of the game hence the reason so many of the good riders are big dudes. On the Plus side most people know that if you can't make a clean pass you might go down and not finish so looking for the hole is still an art
  8. sigh....I guess I have to wait until after I graduate from college
  9. nice looking boards very functional looking
  10. nice to know that you are still building glass boards....you certainly make it hard to keep a stable bank balance
  11. skateboarding in the early 70's, surfing and snowboarding in the early 80's
  12. I think its a testament to the weakness in how the Democrats have been doing business in Massachusetts. It's not so much that Brown won, though he did put on an amazing campaign but Coakley just tried to phone it in and failed. Brown has what 2 years? and then he'll face another Kennedy
  13. I got a HS buddy to buy a used razor and he swears buy it...
  14. GoPro HD.....I have seen them take a beating with no ill effects....the only problem I have heard about them is that the format is more friendly to Imovie and FinalCut than it is to Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere and Premiere Elements
  15. I think it depends on your job, for instance Rodney Mullen spent the last 2 years training himself to have no "stance" removing all favoritism from how he skates. as if he needed something else to show the world he is a god among men. I'm a regular footed skater/surfer/snowboarder but I started life as a lefty and ride a bicycle and roller blade/skate as a goofy (right foot forward).
  16. Watching Jasey Jay over the years he is certainly one of the most dedicated and consistent riders. It would be nice to see him go out on top
  17. wow after reading Gilmour's post (informative)I had to make sure my watch was above the compost line.....
  18. well I have had numerous bicycle, skateboard. snowboard and motorcycle get offs....shattered 2 motorcycle helmets, destroyed a few bike helmets and been through countless skate helmets been to the ER a number of times for other bail related issues, 0 concussions. The thing that helmet research never tells you are the number of helmets that have died the good fight so that your head isn't a shattered pumpkin. I mean seriously are you going to go someplace and report that you didn't get an injury? no you buy a new helmet and move on with your life. One thing for certain a concussion would have been one of a number of "problems" I would have had had I not been wearing a helmet edit: most hockey helmets are similar to 2 stage skateboard helmets, hard shell lined with soft easily compressed foam....made for repeated impacts of a minor nature....compared to motorcycle, snowboard and bicycle helmets which are designed to protect against a big impact.
  19. none, but then I have worn a helmet for +30 years
