  1. lonboardin there is a point where extra wheelbase is more of a hinderence than a help...I believe the longest WB on a speedboard is about 34" with the bulk of the boards on the market being in the 31-33" area....freeride boards runs 28-32" so there is some overlap like everything it become more natural the more you do it. Before I broke my ankle I was un-nerved by highspeed turns but since relearning to skate and learning to slide for speed control my comfort level has climbed considerably but since I don't really care to skateboard in leathers my time spent above 40mph is limited
  2. kind of looks like a Demonseed to me....wheels are for certain ABEC11 Centrax. Mischo is a big guy but Dalua is a beast I've been up to 50mph/80kph but that's about my limit, I wasn't scared I'm just not interested in going faster
  3. and Dalua mostly likely beat it in Brazil...of course K-Rimes hasn't had his shot at the record.......yet <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hi6CMKmPHk?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hi6CMKmPHk?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x6b8ab6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Mind you both are going soooooo much faster than 99.9 percent of the skateboarders in the world will ever think of going

    I'm hooked!

Clutch Double Tap L: 40” (39 15/16”) or 101.5cm W: 10” rail-to-rail (25.2 cm) Drop: 5/8” (actual 21/32”) or 1.6cm, aggressive bends, zero wedging Wheel base: 30.5” or 77.5cm Concave: ultra comfortable design for sideways stance effectiveness, flat center to graduated radial. Deepest point just over ½” (1.5cm) Drops thru: Randal 50 & 42, Paris 6 hole, and others. (no Bears) Fully symmetrical Materials: standard = 9 ply Hard rock Maple, 10 ply by special order.(I have a hemp stringer added which provides a Damp Ride without making it feel dead) yes those are Core/Indy 215 hybrids 87a Venom Eliminator boardside 81a Venom SHR barrel roadside This is a LOW setup and unless you are comfortable with Indy's I would recommend 50º Randal 180's The wheels are Hesher Snowballs also a Soda Factory product and can be ordered at the same time as a board (they are only available from MHS or the Soda Factory) with the proper spacers (0.300" compared to the more common 0.400") Essentially they are closest thing to the old 76mm Blue Kryptos I am still in awe of what this board has let me do....I never though I would be doing the types of slides I was doing yesterday I figure I have at least 2 more months of skating before I can snowboard and this board is really gonna help my winter
  5. damn that's a beauty............

    I'm hooked!

The longer board (not the flower print mini) is a Double Tap....this setup (board and wheels) is the closest I have come on a skateboard to reaching the same feeling as a snowboard. I mean seriously this board is a freeride machine it slides like a snowboard. Turn and push and even an old fart like me can do 4 wheel drifts on a thought. I spent all day today riding it on a slide hill (wheelabrator) just giggling as I threw frontside and backside standup slides like I was 20 years younger....

    I'm hooked!

funny I went softwheel sliding last sunday with a bunch of people after some practice I started hitting a textbook toeside pendulum slides...getting huge cheers from everyone on the hill was a huge ego boost:eplus2:...I can't wait to pic up my double tap on friday....I will be a slide god
  8. I believe they use Tracker Superballs
  9. I believe the Killswitch is slotted for Aera's (Kevin Rimer's Precision Truck company)
  10. soft=loose, 80a bushing are loose for me...but I have also been known to run sloppy loose trucks which was the way those trucks were set up when they were on my Supercharger
  11. that was Orange 80a Eliminators on the boardside and Blue Khiro Barrels roadside very loose....sadly too loose wheelbite slams suck its rolling on Purple 87a eliminators boardside and Blue 85 SHR barrels roadside. Still loose but no wheelbite
  12. Me? Independent 215's soft and surfy.....Carvingchef has Revengers on his board.....they are carve crazy, deepest turns I have ever made. they take some practice to ride fast though
  13. not at all I bought that board because I bought that stick....none of my other boards felt the same way the board my brother bought felt....plus I just love the way it looks
  14. Ok I think it must be said sodafactory boards are addictive, I'm now up to 5....a bit of history on this board. A few months back I was at the Soda Factory to pick up a Hoodwalker and stare at the thread birthday boards and I saw this gorgous Sofaking which I thought my brother would enjoy for stand up paddling (bigstick) wouldn't you know it I was back the next week to pick it up....it sat in my living room for far to long and I developed a yearning to have one for my own....so I made what turned out to be a not so simple request from Rus "please make me a Sofaking like my brothers only Blond" of course I didn't think about how the Vlam aspen and mahogany would effect the ride but Rus does. What you see below is the result of Rus's artistry. Now before I go on I would like to try to explaining my fetish for blond boards. it's not because they are cheaper though that is a bonus, its because I really like the aesthetic of plain wood. Which isn't to say that I don't think the exotic finishes fabrics and woods that Rus uses aren't spectacular because they are (plus I did order a fabric topped mini) it's just that I would be so scared of destroying the art (though when I order a cruiser for my wife it will be one of rus's artworks) Anyway the first board of Rus's that I ever skated was a Biglazy on Revengers and Flashbacks and I know that for the last 3 years Rus has been trying to get to to embrace the slow carving life that these boards exemplify but it wasn't until I spent too much time looking at my brothers Sofa that it really took hold. Setup on this was more difficult that my brothers as Indy's aren't always easy to work with, of course my deep seated desire to run Gumballs also made for some difficulty (Flashbacks really would have been a easier choice) but with a 1/2" Riot sanded to 13/32" and a Khiro shock wedge everything worked out...this is a PLUSH ride. Pushing is oddly easy due to the rocker and the ride height isn't high at all. Paddling is awesome, my brother told me that moving around on this board is remarkably easy and after my first session I must agree. Carving is a dream and I can't wait to spend the day on the bike path at wheelabrator...
  15. OK that is cool looking.........
  16. I have longboard coming tomorrow but........I spent an hour in the park this morning only to return and find this on the porch......I hadn't planned on skating park tomorrow morning but I guess that has changed. 8.875x32.5 ....... 15ish WB
  17. I agree with Mud I have seen and loaded a lot of trailers over the last year working at Home Depot if you plan on pulling something that heavy make damn sure that the vehicle doing the pulling has load capacity to spare...heavy tongue weight can make the front end light seriously changing the steering
  18. in previous Carve magazines the how to's have been pretty good especially for someone who is only able to follow the pictures
  19. the thane on the nineballs isn't as good as the Krypto's you have....you might wanna think about ABEC 11 Gumballs very fun cruising wheels
  20. I agree that loadeds feel unstable at speed, like anything faster than walking the flex/sag detracts from the ride... they are also rather expensive (sorry I'm not a fan of Loaded boards). Earthwing's Supercharger and Supermodel are good boards both going fast and slow so is the very simple Gravity Hypercarve. I have a Sodafactory cruising/carving board on order something like this only without the vlam bottom
  21. stay local (Bristol RI)....try Sodafactory while I am a huge fan of Rus's speedboards his cruisers are also very fun....so much so that I just ordered one after trying my brothers spend some time looking through the thread there are a lot of options. I prefer Indepent trucks INO they feel surfy though Many feel Randal's (and other RKP trucks) have a more Carving feel Hard lip wheels grip/rail soft lip wheels drift slide....there are exceptions but that's the general idea
  22. I believe they are similar in PHRF umbers due to rigging and the increased waterline the Etchells has when it's healed over....that said the Etchells is a 44 year old wanna be olympic boat (better than the Soling or the Starr IMO) that shares more in common with the Shields than anything modern....narrow beam oldschool racer about 50 fleets worldwide "The International J/24 class has more than 50,000 people sailing 5,300 boats worldwide; is established in nearly 40 countries with well over 150 active fleets; and is still considered the "gold standard" for modern one-design keelboats around the world." the J24 is 200lbs lighter and has nearly twice the sail area but it's got about 2/3's-3/4's the length....it doesn't point anything like the Etchells but is much more fun off the wind Fore deck on an Etchells is cake in all but the most hairball conditions, on a 24 it can be trying in 15 knots...my first Keelboat racing was on a J24 and I still have a softspot for it I crewed on etchells for a season but I never really enjoy'd it
