  1. not to mention stupid...it will be interesting to see when discretion overrules the almighty dollar and big names decide that a course isn't safe enough to race on

    SBX Setup

As some of you know I broke my ankle about 2 years ago and really haven't been able to snowboard much since then. Mostly its the cold but the 50º angles may also plan a part. I plan on trying a few days again this year but I've been thinking it may be time to look at a soft setup again. Which leads me to my present question. Boards I understand and can find plenty of information on but....... What are the racers using for boots and bindings? Thanks
  3. I replaced the ankle buckles, which were the only ones that really gave me any issues I like my boots a lot more now
  4. I caught this on Yahoo of all places...at first I couldn't believe it but the more I think about it the more I think this is really the wrong direction for big wave surfing
  5. Thanks for the info...I'm hoping that the nerves in my ankle settle down enough for me to start snowboarding again.
  6. I think I would like to try an Oxxes BX board, because the idea of railing a softboot board is appealing.
  7. It was good, I really like the look of racing in normal looking clothing.....
  8. I know Nevada is a Freestate but most states its still a legal requirement to inform a LEO that you are carrying a firearm concealed or open if you are stopped for any reason. Last I heard its illegal to record audio of a police officer. Video is fine but audio requires consent. carrying a pistol on your person without a round chambered is like flying a Cessna without a propeller. A Glock is a safe enough pistol to carry in Condition 1 and is certainly more useful than Condition 3 When I was living in Guam the law was I could carry openly on my person while driving or I had to have the ammo in the front and the pistol in a lockbox in the trunk........now that was weird. Since I shot about 2000 rounds a month I carried it was just easier....I don't own a gun now but that's a whole different subject. Sorry but what I heard sounded like you were looking for trouble and it sounds like you got what you were looking for. I would say you are lucky you didn't end up dead

  10. the fastest most manly way down the hill is to point it straight:smashfrea
  11. Silk longjohns help. Make sure that nothing it too tight, no exposed skin, mittens
  12. wow.... failure to invest in infrastructure
  13. mostly because I know I haven't exceeded the capabilities of the board I have:1luvu:
  14. Boots....comfort and control are your key goals
  15. out of curiosity what are the specs on those 155's???
  16. the first round of DH wheels influenced by Manx have been and gone, they were......slow (I think they were called shockers). the Venom slide wheels are called Sidewinders and they are centerset and not much like any Krypto I have ever seen the Cannibals have been out for a few months (see pic below) I haven't skated them but a friend who works for Zak is supposed to be in town this weekend so hopefully I'll get to try them. I've heard they stick better than Nersh not as well as Centrax and slide/drift smoother than either. Another really good choice would be Classic thane Zig Zags or Big Zigs traction shape semi drifty thane I would recommend 78a Flashbacks are another choice
  17. pro mod trials bikes are pretty easy to find for under a grand of course they aren't cool now that everyone is styling on a 24" but they are just as fun to ride and probably more durable ON Fleabay I found this
  18. I rode Urban trials on a Modded ProClass sized cruiser it worked and was fun. another choice would be to spend some time cruising the observed trials classifieds....lots of good things come up there. on a semi related note I pulled my old Mongoose 24" out of the garage attic this afternoon and started putting it back together....mostly for a bit of DJ and local cruising but it's kinda cool to see how much I can assemble without spending a dime. I think all I need to buy is some nuts and bolts a rear brake, a chainring and a chain. Everything else I have in junk boxes
  19. word of warning....if he says they are too slippery then they are something that should be used on a slide only deck...he generally likes a very sticky wheel
  20. My initial goal this year was to find a wheel that gave me chatter free sliding....I twice got bucked when my reflex thane wheels hooked up violently at the end of a slideafter trying a bunch of wheels I settled on the 70mm/78a Blue Divine Touch wheels and I was laughing hysterically the first fast run I had that allowed me to drift predictably in every corner. But they might not have enough traction for you, I have heard that Zak Maytum's new Venom Cannibal wheels are smooth sliding and full of traction. The Nersh Money Hax are just full of traction though I haven't heard what the slide is like and of course there's Centrax but I doubt many can slide those at all
  21. yeah I would love to take one apart to see exactly how it works. I noticed the multiple sales as well....divorce was my first thought
  22. If I were in the Market I would be looking at VSR boards in the low 170 range...that would probably give me a bit more edge than my current RC does now plus all the advantages of Metal
  23. of the 7 boards pictured 5 are SodaFactory, 4 CandySpanks and a Clutch. Rus makes a very nice board. That Clutch Double Tap is the closest to snowboarding I have ever been on a skateboard....this is me throwing my first backside standup slides on my first day on the board...that board made me a better skater day one.
  24. This is probably it for a while....the house Quiver, everything here is a regular (at least once a week) rider and as such lives on the board rack in the living room there are however 5 more boards in the Garage
