  1. Uhhhhhh yup. i'm just missing the middle piece to be a goatee greg
  2. I got into the chutes on a 176 AMF Prior. I survived but it was better suited to a MUCHHHHH shorter board. We had to do jump turns and would drop about 8-10 feet on each turn. This just came in on the Silverstar/Big White newsletter; Silver Star Lift & Lodging From $89 You can ski-in, ski-out from the village with your lift ticket and room at Silver Star's Bulldog Hotel for just $89 pp, starting January 3, 2011. The Bulldog usually has a decent winter ale from Vancouver. greg
  3. At SILVERSTAR: I usually stay at the Lord Aberdeen. Could be cheaper places but it is sooooo convenient. Hot tub, bbq, decent size ski lockers, parking beside the hotel and Longjohns(pub) downstairs. The Ahi tuna burger is AWESOME!! For groomers the front side of the Mountain. Look for a fella by the name of Gustav riding Coilers in the morning. He can usually be found on Far Out, Sundance, Whiskey Jack or Over the Hill. At the snowboard school ask for Mellen. Shes the head of Snowboarding and a hardbooter who may point you into the best runs. If you like steep and deep head for Putnam Creek. Its on the backside of the mountain and has lots of chutes and winch groomed steeps. Unfortunately, its colder by a significant amount but because of that it does not get the jibbers, park monkeys, new skiers/boarders etc etc etc. You get the serious skiers and boarders back there because of the snow. Hope that helps. http://www.skisilverstar.com/images/trailmaps/silverstartrailmap09.pdf greg

  8. Ive always traveled with a dehumidifier and a portable clothes rack that folds up nice and flat. I haven't had any complaints with the cleaning staff as I usually buy them drinks at the local watering hole. As we usually have 5 to the room it can get pretty humid but with the dehumidifier it isn't. (yes there are 5 beds) i travel with a full size truck so extra luggage isn't a problem
  9. As i sit here and look at my new NSR 182 Coiler with the new sidewinders, I think about how much I paid for it and you are right. I didn't care what it cost. I have bought from the best and I know that I have bought R&D, I have helped pay for the electricity in those shops and I have helped pay for some marketing. I know that I have bought quality and that I'm helping to support the niche industry. And this post marks my emergence from groomer grommet into a real web carver. cheers
  10. I use Highback Switch bindings for all my softboot boards. The beauty of them as BlueB says is that they have a very stable foot platform due to the 4 point lock in. The real beauty of them is that they can be found for 29-59$ on line. The downfall of them is finding boots that are not worn out.
  11. Or how's about the notice that says your package from Coiler composites was delivered to an address 525 kms(300 miles) away in a different town. Fortunately, its was found and delivered properly. That one even had Bruce thinking he'd have to make me a new board as a worst case scenario.
  12. I have a Louis Garneau helmet with the speakers in the ear pieces. Worked fantastic for about 1 week and then 1 speaker died. I went to the local ski shop and they had ear muffs from Skull Candy that fit as replacements. Riveted them in place and the tunes are back. And yes i listen to them very low and can carry on conversations and can hear the snow. I only listen to them loud enough to distract me from my tinnitus.
  13. Bora 20 Heres an option for you. I know that Mellen is a level 3 who justs rocks in carving softies or hardboots. She ran the snow board school last year. She did say she was coming back this year. Feb 7 - Feb 10 Over The Hill Downhill Speed Camps Come learn from our superb coaching staff how to race and stay in control. 14. Apocalypse Snow??? mono boards, carving boards, kites, parachutes, double skiers, rafts, sailboats........
  15. Energyrail, Sounds good. I'm still waiting for my holy-days to be approved for the time requested. I'll have lots of room for gear and I can always leave it in Prince George at a predetermined spot for you to pick it up at. greg
  16. sounds to me like Boris sent some chocolate. BORIS. I DID NOT GET ANY WITH THE LAST BOARD I BOUGHT OFF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! However, i will let this slight go by if you buy me all the beer that i require when we board together. heheheheheheehe greg
  17. Unfortunately for me, my closest "large" town is Prince George. I keep asking for a change in the beers on tap but nothing ever changes. 4 of our pubs are owned by the same person(group) which makes for a homogeneity amongst the pubs. I agree there are good IPA's out there from Alberta and BC but our liquor control board being what it is........ controlling and archaic. Although it has come a long way from when i first got to BC in 1995. At that point, "Sports Bars" were allowed 1 20" TV to watch sports on. So that being said, I really appreciate going to Vancouver for some much better beer on tap. I even asked for some winter ales or some Oatmeal stouts but its all about the bottom line.
  18. Oddly enough no one has mentioned IPA's yet. The canadian version on tap is bland and has no real hoppy character. eg. Alexander Keiths IPA. I cant really taste the difference between the various drafts on tap. canadian, bud, coors etc. I was in Moab last summer and first tried Cuttthroat and an IPA put out by the state brewer. I didnt like them at first but then i started trying others. Within a space of a week i was hooked on IPA's. The Moab brewing company puts out a limited edition IPA that is Otherwordly. I think it was about 9.5 ABV. It was freekin awesome. Unfortunately I only bought 2 bottles. They also put out a very tasty IPA in which i found out about Growlers. A Growler a night keeps the dr away. or was that an apple? In Coos Bay OR, i stopped in at a downtown pub and they had approximately 20 taps all lined up in the wall. I had the bar tender set me up with a pint of what he thought would tickle my fancy. I also told him no coors, miller, PBR or anything "normal". after about 6-7 pints he hits me with the big beer. Its an IPA thats at 13.5 % . I savored it very slowly. he asks me how it was. I tell him its probably THE best beer ive had and he asks me if i want another. I say not a chance and I asked him for the lightest beer he had going as that pint just about floored me. i traveled through 8 states and every where i stopped they had decent little pubs and bars with great beer on tap. So much for the saying that american beer is like drinking.......... Icant say it as it is SO wrong now. Maybe someday Canada will catch up eh?
  19. mmmmmmmmhhhhhhhh............ chocolate stout...........
  20. Yeah sorry xy9ine. their micro brew beer trumps our chocolate anyway you look at it.
  21. Big Canuck, I received the board today. Looks good. Thanks again. greg
  22. i've been walking 2 miles on the beach with the dogs and carrying 40 lbs in a pack sack. it seems to be working as the belt was tightened a notch today. i think i'll up the weight to 50 lbs and leave it at that weight for awhile. i'm not a gym person so this is the easiest way to get strength for me
  23. i'll take the prior if its still available
  24. AH yes. the 181 Nitro SABER i bought off Big Canuck last year. great DIRECTIONAL board in the pow. takes a little more effort in the tight trees but wasn't too bad. however on the wide open spaces it rocks!!!!! I put it up against my 176 prior mfr and it has exactly the same specs scr. just a bit softer. it does not like being on groomers. period the powder at powder king mountain was lacking last year as we only got a couple dumps of 1.5 feet. ive picked up a 2010 prior 170 khyber that has the hybrid rocker on it. looking forward to seeing how it performs in comparison to the s/t. i may even try h/bs on it this year if i get enough time on the hill. think snow!!!!!! ULLR is supposed to be happy with us up here and is promising big dumps and cold weather
