  1. Bora20, got the bindings today. thanks again for a seamless transaction. deleted your email address when cleaning my inbox and out box. greg
  2. da#nit!!!!! i just ordered my coiler last week. i will not give. in. must. have. willpower.
  3. NICE!! the mudflap guy is only missing a silhouette of a beer in hand
  4. good post AK Rover. sincere and from the heart. keep it toned down. unless you want to keep me, and others, entertained with your verbosity.
  5. That i will. i just checked and its not posted on the web yet that i found. our group holds a dh race along with gs using the same course and b netting the week before. so i'll be in SS most likely for 2-3 weeks. when it gets to start of next season i'll let you know with lots of planning time.
  6. Bora, i'm happy to see you followed through. although i hope you wore more than your new m/c boots. over the hill downhill is scheduled for february 6th 2011 at Silverstar Mtn in Vernon. are you interested in showing up?
  7. i suggest silverstar mtn, Vernon BC in late jan, early feb. i do a race week there every year and the groomers are wide open and never crowded. i was going to do an extra week or 2 there on top of my week racing. i know 2 carvers that call SS their home. If you're into gates they hold the "Over the Hill" race every year around the first week in feb. the 2010 OTH was canceled due to the olympics but should be back for 2011.
  8. 350 kms north of mackenzie at the confluence of the finlay river and williston reservoir. ive boarded w energy rail at powder king a couple of times. i started h/b'n and sking to change it up from s/boots last feb.
  9. we're almost at the point where we can hold our own expression session in the bc hills.
  10. the best way to clean your chain is to buy a chain w a removable link. i prefer sram chains as their powerlink is easy to remove. soak the chain in degreaser, varsol or diesel. scrub to get clean. then add some chain lube and wipe chain down so that no external oils/grease is left on the chain. the excess doesn't do anything except attract dust. re-install and enjoy the ride. buy a chain checking tool and replace at about 80% to 90% wear. chains are cheap compared to drivetrains. as for sweetest moment??? buying the ex g/f a bicycle and later buying my current g/f a better bicycle. getting them to ride together??? priceless
  11. FLIPPIN HILARIOUS!!!!!!! it combines my 2 loves. childish low brow humour and cycling
  12. THAT IS HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Sudbury is my home town and i knew an awful lot of people who hunted like that. I just thought it was the people i knew. didn't know it was "normal". maybe its why i don't hunt very much anymore or with people who like to "alter" their senses in the bush.
  13. Sorry about your loss. A piece of advice from me. Go to your local hardware store, buy an engraver and engrave all your boards with your provincial drivers license number e.g. BCDL#1234567, or your state drivers license number e.g. akdl#123456. All my skis and boards have my BCDL number engraved in the same spot, which is the centre of the board and on the left side of the edge of the board/ski, in the area between the topsheet and the edge. this gives the police the ability to trace the number back to the owner, as most everybody has a drivers license that is kept up to date with their address. Police CANNOT trace a social security number back to the owner. Serial numbers are nice to have but a picture and personalized serial numbers are the best. digital pics are cheap and worth a thousand words.
  14. i have a 160 gb ipod classic which has about 500 albums on it. mostly classic rock, some punk, some alt, some classical and i put it through some skullcandy headphones that are in a helmet speaker kit. don't listen too loud on the groomers but in the trees its a bit louder. i'm still able to hear and talk to people without straining. i listen to albums as playlists take too much effort. anything by rob zombie or judas priest when i want to push it. my newest fave has to be Hollywood Undead.
  15. *yawn* it can go either way for me. i personally don't care. as a soft boot boarder first, i took up carving on soft boots as it really sharpened my interest and riding skills. i took up hard booting to further my interest and skills in carving. but i also took up carving on skis to increase my fun factor. i just go with the conditions on the hill at any given time. i find it interesting to see how *cough* passionate people are with their given choice of sport. i joined BOL as i enjoy reading about how to clean my technique up. the amount of knowledge here is incredible. as for flame wars?? yeah this forum has nothing on tgr which i read for the sheer comedic value of it. i guess i must be getting old as i don't like trashing people any more.(or less) flame away for me not being as passionate about the sport as i feel that hard booting has its place and time on the hill but not 100% for me. my $0.02 cdn which is worth $0.0193894 usd at todays exchange
  16. its called staying warm insulation. and i'm sticking to my story.
  17. Silver Star mountain in Vernon BC has a recreational race that uses 4 members to a team format. its called "Over the Hill Downhill". This race has run for 28 yrs. skis and snowboards can be used. The tour de COPS has held a D/H race the week before OTHDH. skis and snowboards can be used. This race has run for approximately the same length of time. both races have been cancelled for the 2009/2010 season due to the olympics. the race itself starts off on green and ends on blue runs. individual speeds on the cop race have reached 101kph/63 mph for skiers and 75kph/47mph for soft boots. This known as the runs were timed with a laser radar gun. i don't believe that anyone has ridden the Tour de COPS race w hardboots and i would hazzard a guess that it has been run in hardboots on the civilian race. however i don't know. soft boots/boards CANNOT hold the corners on a carve at these speeds. it will be interesting to see how fast hard boots can go in the 2010/2011 year.
  18. well somebody has to sink to the lowest level and say it so it may as well be me. how come so many guys dislike pussy........cat?
  19. i'd watch what kind of soap you use. the last detergent i used, got the smell out, but destroyed the glue that held the cloth liner to the foam. i'm thinking that next liners i wash, i'll be using tech wash and i'll be hand washing them. i have 2 cats at 2 different houses that absolutely despise my gear bag. they have peed on it a total of 4 times. yes its now locked up. its been brought to a sports gear cleaner each time to use an enzyme to get rid of the smell. the cleaner said that cats dislike the smell of sweaty gear bags as i'm not the only one who has problems with the cats.
  20. one can occasionally find NOS O2 krypton boots for $40 cdn on the blow out table of the local ski shop. thats what got me into h/b boarding.
  21. i'm assisting a couple of american friends of mine who have tickets for the mens combined DH on sunday. tickets are $120 a ticket which includes the bus pass for the ride from Vancouver to Whistler. they are not making any profit on this. Their plane leaves Saturday and they'd like their money back. their numbers are; John/Val (604) 940 1914, Gary (435) 655 5354. and yes Fin has given approval for this post. greg
  22. fair enough, but when too mushy turn them into cider. and as for worms???? a little bit of protein never really hurt. hence the tequila worm. hehehehehe
