  1. Angie - i am so glad ! Jack - I signed up for the banquet too - did not sign on to ECES website to say so cause my computer keeps crashing and all I needed was banquet tix - I got two tickets - I'm going to bring a pal - she skis but maybe we can bring her over to the dark side - and anyway she is single, cute and an eye doc
  2. Angie, sign up for the banquet I'll save a spot for you and a pal on our futon then you can come last minute and if you don't make it you'll just be out the banquet $ I sent you an email Kathy
  3. I am going to try to come on the 10th. Unfortunately it is going to depend on several different things coming together to make it happen. How about Bob J ? Is he coming? How is he - does anyone know? KB
  4. Hi Tonja, I sent you an email Kathy
  5. Maybe there is an early arrival?
  6. Today at Sunapee will be day 99....although only about 1/4 of those involve any time on hard boots What are you going to do with your free ticket? Use it for toilet paper?
  7. Gleb check your avalanche reports before Tuckerman trip - this is not your usual April - I think recomendations currently are to stay off???? I think avalanche danger currently considered HIGH! May might be better KB
  8. You'll have a great time at either place Weather should be great and conditions might be close to the best of the season There is great snow cover - edge to edge all trails, woods all open and currently DUMPING!!! I was at Stowe Tue Killington Mon, wed-Fri There will be less people at Stowe - but more lifts running at Killington Stowe Gondi closed for the season - Killingtons still running and they are reopening Bear mountain tomorrow for the w/e HAVE FUN
  9. And aren't you glad you did with all that fresh snow?? And those ripping sick laid out runs down Big Dipper Monday probably made the whole trip!! Kathy P.S. Amy , Craig and Dan that you rode with over the weekend are not bomberonline regulars - I don't think Craig has even seen the site......
  10. Working on it - I'll keep you posted :D
  11. Going elsewhere for Wed How about Friday? KB
  12. Angie - The season is NOT over !!! Nice taking a few runs with you but especially great to see you out there first thing in the moring and then later in the afternoon working the carving gear - I was so impressed you kept the hardboots on in the afternoon slop! Like the avatar!!! Robert - fun riding with you too - day 91 today since you asked!!!! I did not realize I was meeting (or re-meeting) the infamous Willy Whit (or was I?)
  13. sorry - just saw this now Hope your day was as great as mine - they were dropping ropes all morning on stuff that had been closed for a week - I was getting 20 plus inches of freshies all day!!!! :D I thought I was done with carving gear for the year but with the way things are gong I think I'll take it out Monday and or Tue if there is any visibility KB
  14. Angie Very fun running into you and your pal Jeff (?) and riding with you! :D I went over to Snowdon to look for you after I hit a few of my favorite trails before they softened up...hope things went well over there I'm going to try to make it back for early am tomorrow and /or Sun - right now my body seems to be caving in (I plan on being at the KBL gondi at7:50am????) - I actually left not long after 1pm today - due to Right toe pain, R hamstring pain and back pain - I hope I can hold up for the rest of the season - it 's taking it's toll................ Hope you have a great weekend!!! Kathy
  15. Here is link to me at Killington on needles eye today http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventorder?photo=Y87F0KQC000031&start=0&album=0&adjust=-1 Cold nights, high of 31-32 degrees last couple of days, bright sunny skies The season is not over yet....
  16. For the record Killington midweek is generally much less crowded than Sunapee was today In the interests of general research I am going to go carve at Killington this Sunday am then I will report back on crowds (And I am the perfect reporter cause I never go on Sunday so my expectations are high!) This week has seen a real drop off in people at Killington - Monday there was a little surge in the am - I think alot of people called in sick and stayed past the weekend given the storm over the weekend - otherwise now there is great snow and few people..... KB
  17. yes tomorrow should be great I will look for you at 9am
  18. Eric any weekday yet?? Thursday crew - are you done? KB
  19. Well...since you asked.... First I want to say thanks for Jack for organizing ECES again. As far as I am concerned if he wants to organize it I will do my best to come even if it is at Blue Hillls (well ahh maybe not). Also lets not bring other hills into the discussion since he asked nicely for us not to .... 4 of the hills on the list (all except Mt Snow) I know very well - I have worked at Killington, Loon and Waterville and have had passes at all of the mountains on the list in recent years. I would rank them Killington / Stowe both way ahead Loon then Waterville Bottom line is the snow is better at Killington and Stowe - as per example this weekend they got 3 times as much snow (33-36inches!!!) and NH got some rain mixed in ugh I voted for Killington cause it is my home mountain and I agree with Przemek/Brooklyn that Killington is awesome for carving. However I think he must have balls of steel cause I cannot imagine carving at Killingon on a weekend (except maybe 8-10am, 2-4pm Sun). I get scared there on a busy weekday. (But to be fair to Killington there is really no mountain I will ride a carving board on the weekend - I'm a chicken really) I ride solo generally and go in the singles line and generally NEVER wait even for a minute in the lift line. Even if you go with others the gondi's generally have the only lines weekdays and they are less than 5 minutes. THe exception to this is Feb vaca week (Washingtons bday) If Killington is picked the thing to be careful of is the week picked - some weeks are great - some are busier Week before Washingtons Bday ok Week of-->busy Week after Washington Bday NH vaca week but not too bad Following week is Quebec/ Montreal vaca week a little more busy Week after that is Ontario vaca week -- busier again Week after that is this coming week and I think it gets slower - I'll let you know This may apply to Stowe as well?? they are closer to Canada TO Counter Pauls list here are reasons to pick Killington 1) Wide variety of terrain to please all levels (WAYYY more than 4 at each level) 2) Wide variety of conditions in different areas so not as weather dependent as some places (ie bear 10-15 degrees warmer, canyon colder, firmer) 3) Challening terrain 4) I think Killington is actually a great place to show boat...... 5) Large numbers of former sick carvers that will hopefully come out of the woodwork to join us (Now working as plumbers, resort managers, retail managers and owners - prev. ski bums) 6) Wide variety of lodging from bunk houses, condos to lux hotels 7) Same goes for nightlife, dining 8) Not as snooty as Stowe 9) Not as many grumpy old retirees as Stowe 10) Killington is the master of repair - in the event of bad weather they always see to come through and get things usable again - quicker I think than anywhere else All that being said I still think Stowe would be great. THANKS JACK!!!
  20. as you probably have figured out by now - YOU SCORED - good choice of days! Everywhere will be great. Killington Thursday was exhibiting some bare spots on Bear mountain but I am sure those are gone after 18 plus and more coming - it was otherwise in pretty good shape considering the shocking loss of base between Monday and Thursday As of Friday Sunapee had knocked down some snow whales and covered all bare spots but the conditions where somewhat variable - I am sure they are terrific as of NOW! Wednesday probably best day for visibility HAVE FUN!!

Whatever you told him and ?fixing his bindings made a big difference - he looked much better the last run I saw you guys do...... BTW... I just noticed ....The 1-12 post not deletable because one of the moderators locked it for some reason.........
  22. Yes - I thought that was you.....You were very early..... Sorry to have not answered emails etc - I've been busy chasing the elusive NE powder beast - I have had a few small encounters lately Thursday I had previous plans to meet folks at Kmart Glad you guys had fun - sounds like it was a good time TT great that Ellen is getting into carving - what happened to season in the west? wasn't that in the works?
  23. Snow should be great by then given that winter is finally here! Are you guys going at all on the weekends or is Jan 25th gonna be day #2? (not trying to rub it in just thinking about where to go for my weekends off - - I may go to Killington Sunday 8am-10am but looking for other less crowded options) Eric how did things go today?
  24. http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventorder?photo=Y87F0HYT000028&start=0&album=0&adjust=-1&d=0&pphoto=Y87F0HYT000027 Above is link to me riding at Killington last Thursday Rode an even softer board today in the rain at Sunapee - snow was awesome although disappearing rapidly - had to quit when I got soaked Softies work best for me when the snow is slushy and lumpy - although I agree not the same G's you can pull on a firm cord day in hard boots
  25. I rode at Killington on Wednesday - ticket was free - I would not have paid That being said conditions at the top ok from 8am to 9:30pm or so - surprisingly first hour not really much more crowed than usual weekday Some death cookies mixed in throughout the mountain Killington as usual has done a remarkable job with what they have been given weather wise - plus they had received about 4inches of wet (good base) snow at the top - at the bottom it had clearly rained and there was yellow frozen stuff for a base with loose rocks and a dusting of man made over it Conditions would have been enough for me to stay for most of the day except for the crowds - by 9:30pm it was a complete zoo - all parking lots at base lodges full and cars were not even being allowed to drive up to KBL lodge Keeping in mind that 3 trails in trail count at most mountains equals one way down -->most mountains in NE currently have at least one lift running for every trail - not a good sign (Jay peak was for a bit open with 6-7 lifts and 9-12 trails eeekkk) Will likely be worse for the weekend although if it snows on Sat (which is forecasted 1-3inches) that may help as alot of people won't ski for long when it is snowing Bottom line is if you can go any other time - wait - should be getting better very soon - if this is your only time to go then get there very early - 7:30am at the gondi for Killington as they often open early - ride til 10am take a break until 2pm then restart Personally I am going to hike Mt Major today and wait til next week - Good Luck KB
