Jeff Bokum Certified pedorthist Jeff helped me with my Deeluxe moldable liners (mail order from bomber) and made me custom foot beds - best fit EVER! - and I am a chronic foot pain complainer on the slopes and have been to several pedorthists in the past so I have some experience to say he is terrific I was actually able to go out for 4 hours second day out in the new liners and they are tighhhtttt and the pain was tolerable until just before I stopped - pretty good for new liners ! I had my 23month old ipod mini at Loveland this year and it died 4th day out - just circled through the songs never stopping and playing them - returning to sea level and charging did not help - then it cleared all the songs out The awesome news is my husband bought the 24 month replacement warranty when he got it for me so I now have a brand new nicer, better battery etc IPOD nano Don't know if it was the altitude or not

Yes - I've been out despite a tough start to the season for various reasons (not just the WEATHER!!!) Season so far has run the gamit of an entire year - freshies at Loveland mid Oct, Spring slush at Killington last week (and ya'all know how much I like the slush) and bitter mid winter cold at Killington today - conditions decent but TOOO crowded (quite a comback from total closure last Fri and Sat)- 0 degrees and howling wind - brrrrrrrr 15 days not including a brief (not the driving part) trip to Jay Tuesday Orrr - you bomber types might not count a single day as they have ALL been on my softies - NEW carving board coming out next week ?Monday - depending on the weather - wore my DEELUXES with their new liners around the house tonight arghh - may have to use the old liners first day out KB

ak rider ..nice turns - that was a sweet video from 9-23 ... I was green with envy ...the snow looked better than Killington's last day May 1st Can you give me the inside scoop on Loveland? Has all that beautiful snow melted? It looks like they are intermittently making snow from their website but that they are geting alot of melting too. :( Any word on opening day? I got cheap tickets ($190!!! from NH) to come out Oct 16th to 20th hoping to be there for opening day but I think I can change the tickets if it isn't looking good. Thanks for the info Kathy

Its not to say the the bails are better than the step ins as each have their pros and cons. I would encourage the use of both setups, on varied terrain over a period of time. The step ins do offer an ease of entry and will produce a feel that is much more rigid and stiffer than that of the bails. This has its advantage for a more efficient ride in the sense that any amount of energy from the rider is directly transmitted. However, I have seen a good portion of riders fail to reach their potential because of its stiffness. Combine that with a stiff boot and performance, from what I have seen, is somewhat plateaued. Many riders are under the notion that stiff is best or the way to go..in some cases it is. Stronger heavier riders will benefit from the extra stiffness as well as the disclipline being done will dictate the need for a stiffer more efficient setup or not. Plates with the standard bails are not as rigid as the step in versions. The flex characteristics of the bails will undergo change the more they get used. When new, the bail plates are at their highest efficiency. As wear ensues, slight play will develop and one would notice this. For my style of riding, I like that. More often than not, less efficiency or more play, will introduce a larger margin for error on the riders behalf. Same sense between riding powder verses hard surfaces. The powder creates a larger margin for error, where mistakes can be done and not noticed as the surface is not efficient. Take that same rider and put 'em on a firm surface and mistakes will instantly surface. That there in itself is why you here that people dont like ice. Not because it s bad but because their true skills come to the surface and after riding powder thinking they are great are quickly humbled. This play/less efficency can be very beneficial to improving or speeding up a particular learning curve wether novice, intermediate or advanced. The play of the bails will allow me to really tweak on heel side turns allowing a little more lateral flex at the ankles without having the board over compensating its angle to the snow. My only regret from not using the step ins is having to replace a pair of boots every season from busting off the heel shelfs. The only comment that I have on mixing step ins and bails is to try it. The whole process of gaining experience comes from trial and error to see what will work best for your skill level and style. Just remember one thing, When one trys something new for the first time that is different from what they normally use, the body and mind's first reaction will usually be to reject it. Ignore that and give the new change some time. Then make the decision. Once the body and mind acclimates to the new change, you may realize the benefits of it and the ways it may be beneficial or not. CMC

agree with all of the above skiing/ windsurfing most like carving biggest rush skiing for me --> accelerating out of the turn i'm not good enough to get my shoulders in the water :rolleyes: wakeboarding (haven't done much) like being in the park big wake still okay for skiing unless your boat is huge - generally you run the boat faster than with the wakeboarders by 8+ mph Yes I rode my motorcycle up to Sunapee yesterday to look at the mountain - pretty cold on the way - somewhat encouraging but so so green still... UNLIKE Colorado where it appears that WHITE is the predominant color!- I took a gamble after finding $190 RT tickets to Denver and booked myself for Oct 16-20th Loveland has made it open by the 16th last 5/6 years and been #1 in the nation for 6 - If Abasin says they're opening the 20th - Loveland will have to go sooner to keep the title - I have my fingers crossed hard enough to cut off my circulation

went for last day at Killington today - actually super fun day I think this is the earliest they have closed in many years top to bottom skiing but I walked top 1/2 of Superstar headwall after 11am due to boulder field with few scraps of snow mixed in I even managed to avoid doing much more damage to my Ride Entered my first race on a snowboard - "Fun day" race at Killington This was my kind of race - sign up day of race - free if pass holder Complete the race and you get a free ticket for next year (I completed the race) AND I came in second and won a pair of sweet goggles NOW though I am really bummed cause I do not want to wait till ?November to go again - hmmmmmm

closed killington today I think that's it for the east coast - conditions for a couple of weeks have not been good enough for new gear Where can I go? I think Mammoth still has a decent base right? Mt Hood? anything closer to me (NH)? And is Mammoth freezing overnight? THANKS!

Thanks for the offer - But I think I'll get a bike up here cause I'll want to use that shop for maintance etc. I got my last bike in Hooksett and they seemed to be pretty good I have a question for all though - Should I get an extended two year warranty? I usually say "NO" to extended warranty's - the 250 comes with a one year warranty - and two more years is $280 - it is transferable and covers everything except tuneups, oil change and normal wear and tear. I never had anything to warranty on my two previous bikes......... Bob, Have fun on your ride in VT this weekend

I'm gonna start looking at bikes this week - I think I'll start with a smaller bike and day trips for now and see how it goes - I can always upgrade and maybe you guys can all tell me what adjustments are appropriate if and when I get something bigger Overnight trips do sound fun though - last time I went on an overnight on my bike (the 250) I lived in NYC and met some pals in upstate NY to go camping - the thing I remember best -since I was riding at night to meet them - was having to stop multiple times to clean the dead bugs off of my face shield so I could see - ick
