Welcome to the group! Glad you got the boots! Can't believed they still had it! I am hoping to go up again next week. Depends on the weather. I have other pair of TD 1 "non-spring" bindings, in case I don't get the bail replacements in time. z

Hey Don, while it may sound crazy, at one time I was counting my G turns. I just wanted to see how many turns I could do in single day. Then I took it further to see how many G's I do in a single season. When you go the MT by yourself it is easy to keep track of the numbers. I am not always accurate with the numbers all the time, especially the G's count. I can forget or didnt do the G count. But the amount of runs and days are easier to remember. I stop doing the G count about 2 season ago. I still do keep track on how many runs and days I do in a season. 50,000 G's in last 4 seasons? Well I think I did more than that. I wont bored you to death with my history of carving. But I will say this. I do know for a Fact I do about an average of 15 to 30 G's per run. Anybody can do this, not that hard to do. It depends on the conditions and the length of the trail. During the 2001, 02 and 03 season I have very accurate numbers on my events. After that I lost track here and there. Here is just an example. At Okemo the most runs I did in a single day from 9:15 to 3 pm is 28 runs. So Let say I did 20 G's per run. 28 runs x 20 g turns = 560 G's in a single day. Now suppose I was able to maintain this count for the next 20 days of riding in a season. 560 G's x 20 days = 11,200 G's in a single season. And this is doing a low count. I have done a lot more than 560 G in a single day. I am only counting the "L" G's to super low G's only. Other carving such as stand-up riding or fish tailing as well as the quick "weeble-wobbles" don't count. This is who I am. No big deal, whatever and who cares. LOL. :rolleyes: However it is amazing how the numbers add up. I always enjoyed the numbers. :D

I use a simple commercial soft grade aluminum and carefully shape the brace to fit heel section. Even as I clamp down the boot to the binding, the heel and the brace did not move. The boot was not loose or too tight in the binding. It was a good snug fit. I agree with the others about the fatigue and the stress on the bails. I have been using the TDs for the past 4 seasons the bails probably had to withstand 50,000 G's I did in that time. Perhaps even more, I lost count. I just thought maybe because of the larger diameter of the bails, I would of gotten a little more lifetime. Oh well. It is true what the people above said. The metals don't last forever. Thanks guys for the concern words. ;)

LOLOL Thanks for the comments old man. :rolleyes: Yes I will replace the other bails as well. There is an old saying when it comes to bindings, When one bail fails they all will fail. I also replace my dying Raichle 325 this season as well. This embarrassing to show, but the picture below should make you laugh. You can't see it, but the right corner of the heel is crack. I made an aluminum brace to hold the section together. Please note: The repair survive 89 days of riding during the past 3 seasons. But as I look back I just should of brought a new pair of boots. Paying a few $$ for new boots is a lot cheaper than the Hospital bill.

Actually it wasn't scary, only because I was slowly down going into the next turn, then pop. I really thought it was my boot. It was a very smooth relaxing turn. The snow was perfect. I weight about 186 lbs as I really should be 172. I am aggressive rider, but since this was my first day of the season I was carving with medium speed, I was trying not to go so fast. For the record this is my sixth busted bail since I got involved riding plates back in 96. I really had only one scary incident during the 01-02 season. I was at Killington and discovered a very "rare mid-week" freshly groomed Outer limits. I was doing my low G's back and forth like an animal then on the toe side, A big POP and I roll over about 3 times to a stop. That was the last time I use the Burton Race plates that season. I will call fin today. Thank you for the info guys. :o I see a few other riders had busted their bails in the past too.

..well went out to Okemo today for my first day of the season. Beautiful sunny blue bird day. After my 12th run I notice something strange on the toe side going into my heel side. It was a pop and a crack. At first I thought it was my new boots on got 2 week ago. Well it was the TD 1 rear bail. I couldn't believed it. I busted 5 Burton race bails, which are known to happen, but never expected to bust the TD. I only use them for 4 seasons. It was a good thing I was riding very low to the snow. I was able to stop in time before getting real close to the woods. Just wondering if anyone else ever busted Bomber bails before. Any chance bomber can replace them? Will call them later. :(

I often wonder that myself. All I know is, the first time I saw an amazing low g turn was during the days of Peter Bauer. I have an old burton video, I think dated back in 88 or 89, not sure. I do remember seeing other carvers doing the g turn during the early days at Stratton, but nothing like Peter. That video shows the euro boyz ripping it up. My jaw dropped. At first I was anti-euro/hardboots. Not sure why , I guess I was just a kid that didn't understand back then. Ever since I saw that video, that is all I ever wanted to do. So, I have Peter and Burton to thank for.

Yeah it is amazing how smokers don't realize how bad they smell after smoking. My sister-in law is a smoker with 3 kids. She would say, by smoking in the basement bathroom she is protecting them. Yeah Right! When I leave the house and go to my car, I am like "HOLY SH**!! I smell like an F***ING animal! When I get home, my mom is like, "Oh were you at your brother's house?" All I got to say about smoking is -->

No problem. I am from the LI area of NY. I have a mid-week pass for Stratton/Okemo/Sunapee. However Killington is my Mountain of choice that is close to me. Mt Snow is a good Mt far south of VT. Stratton is okay. Sugar Loaf is a big wide mother and love it, but a little too far for me. I am hoping to be there this season. Sunday River isn't bad either. I gave up on the NY MTS a few years ago. As far as NJ MTS--> Right now I have a Burton Factory prime 68 with the old TD 1 bindings. I am due for a new board myself. I do have 2 other "backup" boards for changing conditions. I just recently brought the Suzuka boots last week. So I am just about ready to roll. Just waiting on mother nature now.

Yeah that sucks. I was in a situation like that. There are 3 people that smoke where I work. They know I hate it and could care less about it. After all, they don't care about that fact they are wasting their money and killing themselves. So what should they care about the non-smokers. Boo HOO, right? I would often say, "Aren't you worry about your lungs and getting sick?" They would bring up other disaster related stories. All smokers are alike. Some old S***! This is what I do, when they are finish with their break and return, I go on my break. See ya! It is amazing how the cigarette smokers will do any thing to smoke. I would look at them smoking their cigarettes outside in the freezing cold! Stupid! That's life.

There is no doubt that alpine snowboarding has a different ride and feel. It takes time to master the carve. So take your time. As far as the equipment goes, there are many boards to choose from. I would recommend an All-mountain or a free carve board to start with. Boots and bindings are obvious, not too much of a large selection to choose from. You can check out the store here to get more information on the boots and bindings. When I first started, I had no idea what was involved with plates, what boots would be comfortable and what type of board to buy. I just brought what I could afford and hope for the best. It took me over the years to finally understand and master this new sport. It is so different from soft boots riding. Especially then. I started riding plates back in 96, but because of my limited amount of time in going to the resort. I was able to carve well in 98 and then mastered the low G's in 99. I got hook and never look back to soft boots! Good luck!

I just got my 27 last week. They should be fine for you too. Even without baking the liners I was able to fit inside the boots fine. Be sure to do the 2 fingers rule before baking the liners when you do the shell test. ;) Cheers AZ

First Mt to ride with Board: Magic Hardboots since March 12th 96, Killington final softboot ride April 23rd 97, Killington Gear History: 8 boards/ 3 were defective and replace. 3 pairs of boots God knows how many clothes I replace over the years since I rode plates??? Damn, this sport is very expensive! But it's worth it!

Yeah I do agree with u. However talking about over paid players, I think Baseball palyers are way over paid. Their skills don't compare to Hockey players. I do understand that the game play is very different and the baseball league have bigger contracts with the media and huge income to the sport. But are the ball players worth what there are getting, I don't think so. It's a joke when they ask for more money. Well that's business. I am glad hockey is back! Love the game!
