  1. Blue B - What! you don't understand the new Obtuse "adjective" Math? 90/80 is 21/9 Sorry, must have a case of Mathlexia - was good at Statistic, not Geometry! Really...always thought straight across the board was 90 degrees and zero was the nose!
  2. Hey No Schooler Sigi making riding on Not perfect groom look easy ......but don't forget he's riding on a Vist or Allflex plate which dampens that chop!.....and the fact he's a P. Giant Slalom Olympic medalist probably! doesn't hurt either!
  3. Welcome Wessel, The groom is where you can refine your game, but I agree with Lowrider that the chop, ie: less than ideal conditions will make you use all you've learned. I love slicing through the chop with my Swoard Extreme Carver (instead of getting pitched all around trying to ride over it) but I would want to feel pretty confident in my technique to attack the chop on your carving setups. A lot of guys bring two boards to the Mtn., myself included.... for me it's to lengthen the fun factor when it gets too crowded for hard charging carving or my legs are done and screaming for mercy! Switching to a more forgiving setup is always a blast, weather your softboot setup or a more flexy fun hardboot set up which your Track 225's would be perfect for!!......I run A Moss Performance Quad 60 http://www.mosssnowstick.com/product-2017-2018/performance-quad-60 with TD3's and Track 325's and it's great for the groom or the pow or moderate carving.....even when my legs are shot! You have acquired an impressive arsenal for an "aspiring hardbooter" I don't know F2 boards but the 171 Kessler will demand every ounce of muscle and attention you can muster and unless your around 100lbs./45 kilos I don't think the Track 225's are up to the task! I would suggest a stiffer boot to get the most out of those boards and make sure your boots are SNUG and you are not getting Any heel lift. When purchasing hardboots a lot of riders go down a whole size or more from their street shoe size to hardboot size. ie: i'm a street shoe size 12 US/Mondo 30...but my Tracks are 28.5's Keep at it and deep trenches will come! Again, welcome!
  4. ........or that Whistler could possibly suck?
  5. Eric...............that;s a good point with the lack of heelside leverage with high angles with highbacks. But that's part of my rationale of purchasing the "Step On" setup..... My 55/50 angles and the rigidity of the Burton Step On binding and boot combo should be stiff enough to not need to depend on the Highback anyway......... we will see.
  6. Hey JT I'm was ridding 60/55 but have backed down to 55/50 on my carving boards......(which I still get grief about considering I ride wide 22.5-23.5 carving boards) but like you, that's what works for me! I'm going to try 55/50 angles on my softboot setup with the Bomber Power Plates and Burton Step On's on my Moss PQ60 I would think 60/57 is getting up there for softbooting...........I would expect you'd get even better carving with adding a plate like Bombers Power Plates or Apex Gecko's Look at living legend Mark Fawcett's softboot setup with Geckos .....he is ripping and he looks like (at 1:23) he's running crazy conservative angles like 90/80 ??
  7. How about some stats......... Also year produced and weight it was made for??
  8. I'm a fan of Gilmour Bias with my TD3 SW SI's setups on my carving boards.................but has anybody done it with Power Plates for a softboot setup?? I'm sure it's feasible but any benefits??
  9. Hmm Glad to see somebody else running a (so called old school) narrow stance! How'd you come to decide to run (atypical) more lift in the front than the back??
  10. Hmm? If the Donek MK is Sean's pinnacle Bad Ass hard charger.... .......where does the Proteus fit? ........the miss guided step child?......a wild, but predictable spirit?? It sounds like the MK is more like my experience on my Virus UFC 163....loved the board and a hell of a ride! ......but you better have Thunder Thighs!!
  11. Best wishes for a fast recovery Charlie! ......and next time try not to do so much pruning in the Glades!!
  12. WS7... get well soon! Where were you riding in NH when you cratered??
  13. Congrats there Sculler! When you hit the sweet carve spot by accident or on purpose that first few times it's an OMG! moment.... that's so addicting you'll want to replicate it again an again !! Remind us what your boot/binding setup is on the two boards....................
  14. True That DT! Jones Hovercraft is out of the same thinking of Moss Snowsticks for Surf shapes that can do it all....and supposedly Jones got his Hovercraft inspiration from wanting to emulate those pumpy old school surf turns......and you gotta expect Jones got some R&D from dissecting a few Moss snowsticks!! ...and I totally concur with DT!............On my Moss PQ60 I can be laying down the carves on the groom and then dive straight into the, over knee deep pow stashes then bust back out of the pow onto the groom straight into a knee dragging carve......all on the same run.....(even in it's current setup with TD3 SW SI's and Track 425's!) !! Jeremy Jones Said It! - It's All About The Turn! and Worth a Replay In This Thread!!
  15. Ripturns......showing some "Gilmour Bias" are you..............no pun intended! ...but that is one hell of a 13 seconds of a clip!! Thanks for posting it!!!
  16. Wow........my brain hurts trying to keep up with all this fodder! Guys let it rest and let's get back to our regular scheduled programming!!
  17. Jack..............well there's your problem! Burton!! They still running the same ol, same ol!...and the only innovative product they have put out this decade are the Burton "Step On's" They are behind again as usual!.....don't have any product in the "surf style" shape
  18. Dang! Man!...that's fast on the draw there Dr. !!!
  19. Hey ScottySurfer With my Bomber Power Plates I am going to try a 55/50 setup with the Burton Step On's............ we will see as to it's feasibility and to what end results
  20. Hey Jack I'm old enough to say I also owned and rode a Burton Elite 150 back in the day...........functional for 1988, but you are correct, were horrible in general and especially "horrible, horrible" compared to today's tech..........and that's where the popularity of "surf shapes" that the majority of major board manufactures like Jones, K2, Rossi have been putting out the last couple of years trying to catch up with Moss and their designs and sales!.....and Moss has been at it since 1971 so they might know a thing or two about what there designing and it's capabilities. Really.............don't beat on it until you tried one................it's nimbleness, track ability, carve ability, pow ability, groomer ability will blow your mind! Moss snowsticks are truly a renaissance board design that are easy to ride and a hell of a good time!
  21. Hey Rob........mean no disrespect to your Home Boys ......just saying their doing great.... considering duck foot! ...but duckfooted Ryan Knapton looks and rides better imo and I hope/expect my hardboot experience will translate to taking me to a higher level Here's video of Moss PQ60 and Burton Step On's Jump to 6:30 Seems to me heels sides seem to hook up imo with this setup......
  22. A for effort, glad to see it. But I think any advanced/expert hardboot carver here could jump on a softboot setup and carve better than that. Assuming no boot-out. I'd have to agree with Jack for once.............I really hope/expect I will be able to carve better than these guys on my softboot setup - Moss PQ60 + Burton "Step On" soft bindings + Bomber Power Plates. I applaud their effort and there boards seem to track really well with little chatter but their bodies are ineffectively trying to keep up with their boards. They are not driving the board (like a hardboot carver would know and really try to replicate even in softboots) their riding their boards, imho Still, great to see..................
  23. Hey Zone, If it works for ya sockless I'd say ride it until either your toes fall off from the Ontario cold or the eventual liner smell knocks ya out! My feet are like Thermo nuclear devices and usually never get cold!...but it's currently a deep freeze out here In northern NH where I'm at for the holidays (.....the high tomorrow is supposed to be a balmy negative -3 - ugh!) and in this cold my toes would shrivel up pop off like raisins without some type of sock!! fwiw- My Track 425's are such a perfect fit I have found that wearing even just a little thicker sock than usual causes me more performance problems from cramping than it's worth!!
  24. Hmm...............On my 6 degree cant ring my rear binding angle is 55 degrees......and I lined up the base plate "dot" to 90 degrees...towards inward cant. When riding at this new rear lift and now inward cant I didn't notice much difference. rear knee seemed vaguely easier to keep/stay in alignment to the turn .......but definitely not any negative results either. I think I will add another 20 degrees towards inward cant to see if I feel a difference..................
