The Northwave Xanthus is the predecessor of the Point 950. It comes from the same mold and is very similar. Size C. Detkov just came 4th in Rogla in the Northwave Nexus (same shoe - a tad bit softer)! So performance is top notch. Boots are in very good condition. There are some old Palau liners in there, which are pretty beaten up. I also have a pair of Raichle liners here which fit pretty well. Size 27.0/27.5. Price: ---$ The Northwave Revenge (like the .350) is a bit softer and comes with three buckles. Excellent for freeriding in hardboots. And it can be used for spare parts for the Xanthus! Size C. Original liner is in very good condition (and fits the Xanthus perfectly!). Price: ---$ Shipping to US should be around 50$. Boots are located in Austria. Yes, I use mainly the Supernaut stuff, although the pants in the video are from the Resolution line (Dissident pants). I like their designs and their cuts a lot! But I did have some quality issues (losing colors, stiches coming loose) which shouldn't be happening in that price range. Still very nice stuff.

michael.a - yeah, the scenes where I have to red pants on, I´m completely in Norrona stuff ;) ... Mostly from the Lofoten line. The other outerwear is from Sweet Protection (also from Norway). land surfer - Thank you!!! In fact it is a rather small ski resort. A secret spot where sometimes even the Austrian team trains ...

Pius, I did indeed change my technique a bit ... it´s nice that you noticed! Pokkis, at the moment I ride my SL board without a plate and my GS board with an SG plate system (hard). Let´s see if it stays that way ;-) ... there was quite some wind when filming some of the scenes :-)

Pogokoenig and Hans, I was thinking the same thing! "Schneewurm" is everywhere! ;-) Very nice video!!! I think if you stop taking yourself as the center of focus and realize how many different mountains and slope conditions are out there and how many different people with different preferences and individual needs are out there, then you will find out that there are so many possibilities. We tend to take our preferences and think that they should also work for other people. Sometimes they do, but most of the time they don´t ... In theory the better edge pressure distribution of modern (race)shapes should be a perfect match for the smooth EC style (see Ben´s and other videos for prove ;-) ...)

I find this discussion highly interesting and I can´t wait for your own thread on the topic, Nils! That said I wonder how much influence the equipment really has here. It sounds as if there are major differences here and if the racers need completely different equipment than the EC riders. I know that this video doesn´t proof much, but still it got me thinking ... The guy is using an SG FullRace Pro Team and UPZ boots - real race equipment, right? And riders like e.g. everts72 are even using plates on their Kesslers for EC. Back in the days we used to joke that the equipment makes only about 5% of the performance. The rest is made up by the rider. I always kept to this formula. That said 5% can still make a difference ;-).

purpletiesto, the Kesslers deserve all the hype they get ;-). The boards are built nicely - I especially like the Ptex top sheet - it looks good, protects the titanal layers nicely and it is supposed to add some more dampening to the board. The new version also has all kinds of inserts which is nice if you want to add a plate. The boards have a pretty fast turn initiation (tighter radius in the nose) and they are not as stiff as certain other race boards. That makes for a really fun ride where you can easily manipulate the board into different turning shapes. Especially the SL version was very satisfying in this area.

Peti, normally I prefer the Pro Team models, but the red FullRace is sooo nice. It reminds me a bit of the 1998 Burton Factory Primes - Ferrari red - those were the times ;-)

Here are the new models for next season. I haven´t heard of any major changes so far, but let´s see ;-). The first sample boards are on their way to Japan ;-) ...

ILyUKhA, I have been riding both models. And I have also been riding lots of other SG models over the last 3 years. I never had any quality issues. I also owned production Kessler boards. The performance of the SGs is incredible - very high standard. A lot of professional riders chose exactly these boards. The SGs are not softer than the production Kesslers. It is the other way round. This is rather a matter of taste. FullCarve vs. FullRace - the FullCarve is an extremely nice board, but if you are interested in racing and budget is not an issue, I would definitely go for a FullRace - vibration dampening and ice grip is superior (exactly the things you need in a mashed up race course!). And also think about a suitable plate!

In 1994/95 some brands (Burton, SnowPro, Nitro) offered the first stepin plate bindings. But those systems were not Intec like. So there was also no need for a special heel on the boots. The Intec system was introduced by F2 in the 1995/96 season. So that year the heels got the shape they still have. The stepin sytems by SnowPro (F.A.S.T.) and Burton (Physics) came later and the heels had the same shape as the Intec system, so they were always Intec compatible.
