  1. So you bought the two SGs just to find out which one is better? That´s dedication :D ... I´m planning to do the same kind of test this season (my board and the board of a friend). I hope it will work out. Should be interesting!
  2. I have about the same setup as MUD (check my profile). Maybe a bit wider stance, but otherwise the same. It works great for me.
  3. Hey, philw! Very nice board ... (and lots of books ;)). I bet you will love it!
  4. Miltie, thanks for sharing! Maybe some more scans ... e.g. of Sigi´s How to ... with a bit of translation ... I know I am asking a lot :o ...
  5. Thank you very much for this link! A M A Z I N G!
  6. nils wrote - ... movies were displayed in a yearly touring festival that hit every state, reaching the whole country pretty fast ... Do you mean the "Nuit de la Glisse" (http://www.nuitdelaglisse.com/assets/philosophy.html) tour? As far as I know the tour was started in France in 1979. Later it was also shown in Germany, Austria, etc. These movie presentations were pretty important at that time and presented these "funsports" to a wider public. "Apocalypse Snow" was part of the tour in 1983 if memory serves me right. And I think it was Thierry Donard, also a camera man for the "Nuit de la Glisse", who asked Henri Nidecker, who owned a wood processing company, to build 3 boards for their movie project.
  7. masa, these plates remind me of Benjamin Karl´s construction. Very nice! And I guess they work pretty well ;) ! The race physics were some cool bindings :D ...
  8. masa, nice SG :D ! I like your binding/plate constructions ... with physics step-in mechanism ... nice!
  9. I just came across this trailer - Kagayaking 3 Freeride DVD. I love these sequences ...
  10. Hans, two black beauties :D ... very nice! Just one binding ... I could imagine riding the Oxess in this setup, but the Coiler would be the ultimate challenge with only the back binding mounted ...
  11. Hi Tom! Thanks for the info! Very nice trailer. Here is the youtube link - Have you seen the videos?
  12. Hey, very nice ! You have to report back how it rides!
  13. I can´t think of any WC riders at the moment which do not use a plate in SL races. For non racers the question is what your focus is. When I ride shorter SL boards I tend to play around more and do more drills because of the easy handling of these boards ( ). In such situations a plate would not be very helpful (weight, edge grip faster and more aggressive, ...). On the other hand you can also feel the advantages of a plate (better pressure distribution, increased leverage, more dampening, ...) on SL boards, especially when the going gets tough (hard icy slopes, moguls, ...).It´s interesting that some racers who use the plates in races would not recommend them for everyday use, especially when the slopes are not icy. I just mounted a vist plate to my SG Full Race Pro Team 163 ... this setup really turns the board into a battleship ;) ... weight - 7,3kg and this is with the "light" Ibex bindings. Let´s see how long it will stay on this board ... The longer the boards the more I use plates on them. Although I still use my boards a lot without plates. It will be interesting to find out how the new plates change the ride.
  14. This was an amazing board - held an edge well at speed, but you could also force it into extremely tight turns ... memories ... Not sure about the performance 16 years later ... Specs: Burton PJ 7.0 from 1994 (the last of its kind!) length: 168,8cm running length: 145cm nose width: 272mm waist width: 220mm tail width: 272mm radius:9.75/10.5m weight: 3.9kg (wow!) rider weight: +70kg Any more questions?
  15. First off, I have not been on the latest F2 shapes. I have been on metal boards from F2, Apex, Kessler and SG. None of these boards were too damp or lifeless. I´m not sure where this general notion comes from ... but I have never ridden the same shape with and without metal in the same conditions. Maybe this would bring out some new aspects ... For me the metal boards provide excellent edgehold and better vibration absorption. Therefore I use them. If money is no issue, I would take the WC edition (especially for an aggressive and experienced rider!), but I am sure that the Equipes are also nice boards.
  16. I would say that you could stay with the same length. Although you could go down a few centimeters, if you want, because the newer boards have a slightly bigger radius and the effective edge is also a bit longer. But it is not that much ... The specs on the F2 site are a bit confusing. The shapes are the same! For the Equipe series they give you an average of the different radii, while the specs of the WC series focuses more on the tail radius. I guess that guys who buy the WC edition are not afraid of big radii ;) ...
  17. @pogokoenig - which screws do you exactly mean and what was the problem? Remo told me that they use special (rather expensive) screws on their bindings ... @jacopodotti - what exactly do you refer to? The plastic lever itself? Because for me it is one of the best shapes out there!
  18. The specs on the Equipe series stayed the same for the whole range. They might have tweaked the flex and camber/decamber curve a bit (as is said about the World Cup Edition on their site), but there won´t be much difference. For the WC Edition there is a new 187 length. Otherwise the specs also stayed the same (despite the refinded flex pattern which I just mentioned).
  19. The 2011 RC 10 uses completely new screws almost everywhere! The heel blocks are t-nutted right out of the box. No need to upgrade anything . The second buckle from the top is slightly higher than last year´s model, but it still touches the next buckle on my back foot ... :(
  20. I have never broken a race plate either. No customer is happy when prices are raised (me included), but the normal version is not 249 Euros. It´s 199 Euros ($278), which includes all taxes. A TD3 is 350 Euros ($487) in Europe.
  21. A new company has taken over the distribution of the classic race plate, lately known as the Ibex Speed TC. http://www.carvecompany.com/ The bails are now heat treated (for 2 hours at 500°) and we get some funky colors!
  22. Bryan, the photo is from a Russian snowboard shop. Unfortunately, there are no other pictures at the moment. But it seems that Bola has got more info on the plate ;) .
  23. Yes, please do!!! Is the blue a new custom option? Are there any other colors? You ordered 2 162 SLs? Any differences?
  24. I hope you have chosen a nice color :D ... New Kessler Custom -
  25. Why only for "longer GS style boards" ?
