  1. @wenne - plate looks nice, but a little more details would be interesting . Could you at least post the weight of your construction, as lowrider already asked you to? Apex Flex Plate Wing - the new version is fixed in the middle and the rest floats ... I have only spent one day on it, but the board/plate combination really rocked!!!
  2. ... you are absolutely right! In my mails I started to refer to the Canadian company as Apex Composites and the other company I call Apex Austria ... And there is also a ski boot company called Apex ... maybe even more will come up  ...
  3. Plate specific boards - I always wondered whether a board shouldn´t be designed differently if you know that a plate is put on it. It would only be logical as the plate influences the board characteristics (at least the current generation ;)). Of course at the moment boards work with as well as without the plate (I tried it on my Kesslers), but if you want the "perfect" setup then it should be taken into consideration while building a board. I know that my Apex (which can only be used with their plate system) is specifically designed for plate use. A non-plate version (with which they are playing around at the moment) also needs modifications to the board ...
  4. The boards sound really interesting ... don´t care too much about laying down :D ... Could you measure the width of the nose and tail of both boards? How far back are the noses decambered? Can you remember that I told you to stay local ... often it pays ... ;)
  5. Hey Zanci, I´m glad to see that you followed my advice ... The boards look great!!! And I see some Hangl inserts in one of them ;) ... Could you give some more specs on the two boards? Are they a metal construction? Details?
  6. @Michael Pukas - I already answered your first question ;) ... there is not much more to it Question 2 is rather broad ... and question 3 has already been answered by the likes of philfell, etc. Basically this boards rock in and outside of the racecourse. No matter whether you "finish" your turns or not @mc-alex - directly back from the mountain . Did you put your SGs to the test again? Wait for next year ... Nice picture!!!
  7. The season is over ... Anderson ends with another victory ... Morison got second ... http://www.fis-ski.com/uk/604/610.html?sector=SB&raceid=8636 But overall Karl was unbeatable ... pure consistency ...
  8. Originally this canting was from Burton! There is a different center piece (the aluminium part) which features the 3d pattern. This is not included in the package of the Ibex binding! But it shouldn´t be too hard to get it second hand.
  9. I am very interested in plate systems and from what the public knows so far the Apex Composites plate seems to be the most advanced system at the moment. Of course I would need more details (like how it exactly works, weight, how the plate is fixed to the board, how the plate can be tuned, etc.) to make a decision, but as I am not into racing the price tag would be too steep for me. There are some other systems floating around - none of which costs even half of it ... Of course I know that the project has cost a lot of money and the market is not that big, but as I said, I would only buy if the price would come down considerably.
  10. I should have written "we" ... sorry
  11. Of course it is 0,3mm - just a typo ... Thank you very much Sigi! And should I say now that I told you so ... ;-)
  12. Sorry Jack, my layout is not the best in the last post ... The 168 is 20,2cm and has 10,8m. The 171 is 19,5cm and has 14,3m.
  13. Let´s not make the same mistake as in the SG 2010/11 thread and mix production and customs/prototypes, etc. For Europe (and I guess also America) there will be no white production Kesslers from the Alpine and the Cross series ... only the Japanese websites show some white models with specs. Kessler production 2011: The Alpine - 1,50m; 1,56m; 1,62m - SL : 1,68m - Allround (20,2cm waist!) : 1,71m; 1,80m; 1,85m - GS No more 1,74m!!! The Cross - 1,58m; 1,63m; 1,68m The Ride - 1,68m; 1,76m - this is the white model from the picture of Hans! The Style - no info - in development - Freestyle model K.Plate - no info - in development @svr - The Ride 1,76m - nose 320mm, waist 266mm, tail 300mm; radius - 12,6m Any more specs questions?
  14. I didn´t mean that the board in the picture is the freestyle model. It looks more like the Cross, but who knows ... The K.Plate doesn´t look that revolutionary, but I´m still waiting for details ...
  15. There seems to be a special edition for the Japanese market ... not sure about the specs, but there are some slight variations ... a bit confusing ... and there seems to be a new Freestyle model ...
  16. This thread was supposed to give some info on the new 2011 line up from SG. It somehow got in the wrong direction. To clear things up - - there are some insiders who have direct access to the SG factory (Elan) and those people are able to ride prototypes (see pic). - those people can also choose between slight variations in the boards ... e.g. you can say whether you like a softer or a stiffer board, but the differences are not huge! - it seems that bola also gets a patch of stiffer Pro Teams, but officially (according to Sigi) there is no such distinction. - ordinary customers (so almost all riders ...) will not get a different board, when they choose between a Pro Team and a Titan. So the above discussion is (almost ;)) irrelevant for the ordinary customer and the facts I stated are all true (because they are directly from Sigi :D).
  17. No, I haven´t seen it so far ... I will ask around a bit ... looks like an asymmetric design ... the Canadian plate still looks more interesting ...
  18. Thanks Hans! Nice pictures!!! Link? About the Kessler line - the Cross line stays basically the same (just one new 154); Sl line stays the same as well, but what about the GS line? Why is the 174 gone? Wasn´t that the women´s GS size? A 171 and a 180 reminds me of the new SG line ;) and I heard that the width on the 168 also changed ... any more specs, Hans? What about the white model?
  19. He did about half of his first run ... there was a double gate ... he hit the second gate and crashed into the net at the side ... this impact cracked his board (in front of the front binding) ... but the board didn´t break during riding ... He said that he felt very good that day and his ankle didn´t hurt, but he is not sure whether he will compete in the next races, because his ankle hasn´t fully healed yet.
  20. This is a very informative article. Shows a lot of insight and intimate knowledge of the subject! Loads of interesting information! Thanks a lot, Jack! Very impressive work! You were talking about the sizes of the raceboards, which naturally focus on the SL and GS sizes for men and women. For many years I have been complaining about this fact. Have you noticed that SG will have a 170 and a 180 for next season? They will have a 199mm and a 203mm waist and a 15,2m and a 19,2m radius. These should be excellent boards for freecarving!!!
  21. Hans, she used a plate ;) Congrats to her!!! Kreiner third ... very good, but could have been better ...
  22. Forward lean adjuster was also metal this year (works fine!). I roughly know about the costs of new molds, but I thought that there are new computer aided methods where you would not need a classic mold (I know - the development of the software would be very expensive ). And as I said - maybe some day someone will DARE it, because otherwise our boots would stay the same forever, right?
  23. Hopefully some day someone will dare to make new molds and use different plastics in different areas, etc. like so many new ski boots ... I had no problem this season with the screws, but you are right. That would be another area for improvement ... I heard from the ISPO that there would be some (important?) improvements ... so far the boot doesn´t look that different ... but let´s see ...
  24. Thank you very much, Hans! But weren´t there supposed to be some major improvements I can´t see too much ... it says there are new buckles and some changes to the liner ... but other than that ...
  25. TrenchKnife, if you do not understand the need for internet arguments, then why are you here? I find it good ... we can learn from each other. But three questions - First - you talked about the big differences, but never explained them (as some people in this thread have asked you to) - why? Second - bola talked about different versions of the pro team (of which I have also heard some time ago), but you keep talking about the difference between the pro team and the titan (and there should be no difference) - so are you correct or bola? Three - why does SG give wrong specs for their boards? Did you ask the rep?
